This little hidden wine bar is a great place for a pre-dinner drink or after dinner drink. They have many American varietals and great prices. Def. recommend it!

Pros: friendly staff

.

After dinner in the LES I wanted to check out the new wine bar Sweet and Lowdown. The ambiance of the bar is very relaxed. There is an enormous wooden bar that dominates the majority of the main bar, as it should be. The wonderful thing about the bar is that the wood isn't totally finished and it gives the room a very rustic, down home, warm vibe that you dont see in many other places. There is a huge american wine menu to choose from and there is a medium beer menu that seems to be different than your standard beer list (i am not a beer person but didn't know any of the names on the list so not your usual) The real nice thing about this place is that they are not stingy on the pours which can be a common frustration for wine enthusiasts like myself. There is also another large back area for i guess parties or large groups that dont fit in the main area. We had a great time and ended up staying for several (and evenutally drunken) hours. I also met both owners who were on hand at all time to take a very active interest in their customers. This is a great new place!!
