We walk to Toast in Birmingham all the time, but our most recent trip there was our last. The waitress was rude, the manager insulted us, and then the waitress proceeded to talk with the host and point at our table throughout the evening. While the food is good, I will never return to this restaurant.

I want to share a bad experience that we had at Toast restaurant in Birmingham. The food is generally pretty good and the gourmet omelets have some unusual ingredients and are tasty. The problem is the service. Last Saturday morning, my wife and I waited for 20 minutes for a table, even though two tables were sitting empty. When we finally were seated, we gave a simple omelet order but then had to wait at least one hour for our food -- and watch another table that came in well after us get served while we waited. (Our experience was not unique. We saw a fellow diner ignored by her waiter when she tried to order a bowl of soup.) We finally gave-up and left hungry. We went down the street to The Maple Leaf Cafe, where the food is great (and organic) and the service is far better.
