We are extremely impressed with the level of care Creative minds gives our children and the teachers. The energy is upbeat, healthy meals, lots of art and activities and so much fun that my children want to go all the time- day and night! The peace of mind is priceless! They are opening a new school in Clackamas that also looks incredible.

We are so happy we found Creative Minds! We had our 2 year old daughter in at another place and we were not happy there. At Creative Minds, I love the healthy vegetarian menu, I love the fact that she socializes with her friends at the school with teachers who really care and seem to have fun! What a refreshing change! All the art projects and activities are fantastic. We did have to wait for about 6 months to get in but I can say it was well worth the wait!

This school has such a great layout and some fantastic teachers. The managers truly care and update everyone on fun happenings and events. The meals are healthy and the program is the best in Portland!

My family truly loves Creative MInds schools. I went to a focus group for families and got to meet other families. This was cool because the sense of community and shared values was apparent. These schools keep improving based on our input and enjoyment of our children. The program is truly the best!

Pros: amazing menu & excellent program

Cons: wish they were open a little later

we had a hard time with this place in the beginning. Our first few times the teachers didn't greet us or our son and we we left on our own to figure out how to introduce him to the class. they have such control over the schedule that it was nearly impossible for them to welcome us. I felt it was a little obsessive, still do, but if that's your cup of tea... I think sensitive children get lost here, my son did at first. the teachers were more strict and in control than they were in tuned with the children's needs. our neighbors felt the same way and almost removed their son. On the upside, the physical environment is fabulous! And the programs are great; they learn. They are eco friendly here, which I love, but they takw it too far by
not giving the children paper towels (or cotton handtowels) to dry up after washing in the bathroom, nor will they give them napkins or such while they are eating forcing the kids to wipe off on their clothing or lick their fingers! They believe the kids will go to the sink if they need to! Ha! They don't help facillitate good manners for home, so I have to constantly battle that one. My son also refuses to go number two at school because there are no doors on the bathrooms. he's five and is old enough for privacy. The doors wouldn't need to lock, maybe curtains? I have seen doors at other places, so it's not mandatory. also I am unsure about the state policies, but they are required to nap. My son will sleep but he can't sleep when it's time for bed and then is tired when he wakes. I think this will put undue stress on his body. for the kindergartners in the SAME class have quiet activities but won't allow it for mine even though he turned five in sept; he is just not technically in Kinder, though they are mingled with all the pre-k kids during the day. it can be frustrating, but they generally try to work with you on other issues, though it feels that it's only issues that are convenient for them to agree with. there were PLENTY of minor irritablities i had with this place and have either been worked out or were single occurances that have been forgotten but this place took some getting used to. my husband loves it because it's so structured. If it had been up to me alone, I would have found another place with more similiar philosophies. my son has also adapted and no longer cries when we drop him off, so he has learned something. my only suggestion is to be aware that sensitive children who need more loving attention may have a hard time in this uber structured and strict world.
