Way OVERPRICED!!!!! They could make more money by lowering the price and selling MORE. Volume! then everyone is happy.

but they are incrediable! My fave?:, Choc/choc,

The staff at Uptown is always rushed due to crowds so they are stressed! The Kirby location is more laid back, and the staff is happier! The coffee is wonderful too.

Way too much hype around cupcakes here. There were great cakies, but come on! I didn't see the big difference between these and celebrity cupcakes. Sugar babies is a little better, but still not work all of this ridiculous hype.

I was not that impressed. For expensive cupcakes they had an artificial taste to them. Guess I kept thinking that I could make better myself.

Perfect. I really don't like to give five star reviews but I had to in this case. There was a deciding factor that pushed me to give it that extra star. First of all the cupcakes: awesome. I'm not really a cake person. I love pies and will eat a whole pie over a cake any day. Today though I thought I would take something special to my mom in the hospital. I swung by Crave, which wasn't as easy to find as I thought it would be, and headed in as I admired the design of the outside and inside of the shop. Very upscale and compliments the designs of the sleek cupcakes nicely. There were quite a few people inside but I was attended to promptly by a friendly employee. I chose the Red Velvet cupcake for my mom, and I decided I'd try one too and got the Crave Chocolate and Creme. The cupcakes are the best cupcakes I've had. The cake portion was a tad bit moist, not too much, but was mostly light and fluffy and flavorful. The cake was topped with chocolate and a dab of creme in the center. I could eat a dozen of just the tops by themselves. Mom really enjoyed hers as well, but she had been eating hospital food so she may have been biased. So the entire experience up to the cupcakes give it four stars but here's what put it over the top for me. The coffee. I drink a ton of coffee and I can honestly say Crave's coffee is some of the best I've ever had. The cup was ground and brewed after I ordered it so it was fresh. I chose the Dark Roast. It was smooth, strong (but not acidic), and had a nice subtle cocoa-y taste to it. I finished it all too quickly and plan to go back for more. Great stuff.
I noticed some of the other reviewers complaining about the price, but honestly you get what you pay for. If you want cheap cupcakes then stop at the grocery store and get a pack of cupcakes for a buck. If you want really good cupcakes and/or coffee stop at crave and spend a little bit extra to get a whole lot more.

Pros: Cupcakes. Coffee.

I have dropped in twice in the past year and both times I was more than satisfied with my purchase. Yes, they are wayyy over priced, but they are seriously the best cupcakes I have ever tasted. This is definitely not an everyday place...It's a nice for a treat every once in a while. Oh and everyone was very nice that worked there. Some of the clientel seemed snooty, but you're in the Galleria area so it's expected.

Pros: Yummy Tasting Cupcakes

Cons: Cost. Wayyy to Expensive!

.

A friend of mine had to make an emergency trip for another friend's bday to Crave Cupcakes. cupcakes taste great (hence the 2 stars) but seriously, $36 for a dozen? What a RIP OFF!!! Should've gone to somewhere else if it wasn't for the time crunch since I live really close to the store!

Crave Cupcakes owner(s): please lower your prices on your cupcakes, doesn't cost much for flour, sugar, and cocoa powder!! unless your motives are for your customers to pay for your luxury home and your luxury cars! thank you!

The only word that describes this Great place is Delicious. Definitely overpriced but regardless of pricing it was 100% worth it. Best cupcakes anyone's ever had. I loved it soooo much. I could not recommend it more. Nice decor. When you walk in it cheers you up and makes your day. Then you eat your cupcake and for the next ten minutes heaven upon which you are feasting dissapears and you walk out, broke but soooo satisfied. :-) I love it more than any other cupcake place in the whole world. had a mixed tower once at a friends wedding. When no one was looking One level dissapeared... :-p ( person(me) licking lips)

Pros: Great! Tasty! Nice decor! Beautiful Perfect treat!

Cons: Price

I don't know why people will pay $5 per cupcake, when frozen tastes even better than what their serving up. The location is nice, decor is nicely done, but there's no way this is a good desert place in Houston. I guess I fell for the hype, but will only try once

Pros: very little, nice location,

Cons: over priced, horrible cupcakes

This is the place to go if you like the idea of paying $3.25 for a cupcake that Hostess can compete favorably with, quality wise. I made the mistake of taking a picture with my camera phone, and was immediately chastised by the manager. The cupcakes really are small, tasteless, and over hyped. I will not go back.

The White chocolate Macadamin..MMM Great
The Red Velvet..A southern Dream.
Very nice staff...

The price of the the cupcakes is outrageous!!!
$$$$3.50
We are in a recession people....bring down the price at least by .75 cents or one dollar.

I complain even though I bought half a dozen mixed..cost me $25.00...YES 25 DOLLARS.
When I get married my husband will have a Dark Chocolate Tower wether he likes it or not. OOOh the DArk chocolate.. a chocolate lovers dream!!!!

i like to support locally owned businesses so when i saw this cupcake pop up i tried their cupcake out and went by at least three times so far, they are always crowded and getting massively popular. some trends are hard to understand....

things i liked: the space itself is very hip, their presentation of the cupcake is cute with their signature blender logo as a candy piece on top, they have different flavor options, i like their marketing/packaging, very sleek as others have commented

things i didnt like: unfortunately the actual cupcakes (slight problem there), the price is a tad high for the size, the flavors could be more intense, a few of the flavors were overly artificial and way too sweet (dulce de lece was tasted like a bowl of sugar, the nutella or hazelnut flavor was completely off)

I was first introduced to crave cupcakes at a work function that was catered by Crave. I had a vanilla on vanilla cupcake and found it to be so delicious (sweet icing, vanilla-bean flavor, dense&moist cake). Since then I have been to the store on occasion and found the service to be of good quality and each cupcake to be satisfying. Some flavors were not my favorite or did not have the same 'punch' as others, but overall I liked them. I had Crave cater my wedding, and the guests were all pleased with the choice. I will continue to visit Crave; I only wish their seating area indoors was larger.

I have been very excited to visit Crave Cupcakes because they are one of my favorite desserts. My first and recent visit was in October this year, and it was near closing time. I ordered the macadamia flavor and after my first bite,it isn't the most amazing cupcake I have ever had. The cake itself was a bit dense and the icing was incredibly sweet. I don't have an extreme sweet tooth, so the icing didn't make the cut. I thought the cupcake also lacked in flavor, but overall,it wasn't horrible.

However, the service was something else. I understand it is closing time and some of the girls at the counter might have had a rough day, but I certainly didn't feel welcome. While I was looking at their menu and the display, one of them asked me what I would like to order. Since I wasn't ready, I told her I needed some time. When I was ready and stood in front of the counter waiting, none of the cashiers immediately took my order. Please do take note that the store was hardly crowded and some of the employees did spot me standing there (they still didn't approach the counter). I eventually placed my order, but I wasn't satisfied with my visit. The lack of smile and attention really bothered me.

I used to be a fan of crave cupcakes but recently, my ratings for this local cupcake place have declined. Other friends of mine have had the same experience. A few of my orders recently (last 6 months) have been UNDERCOOKED and flour was left in them or over mixed so they were hard as rocks (no fluffiness) and were just topped with the strawberry cream cheese icing to hide the defect. This hasn't been a one time event, if it had been I wouldn't write this review. Mistakes happen. [at first i thought it was just the strawberry vanilla ones, then it was also the others...] However, as of recent, things have changed and for over $3 a cupcake, I want my money's worth. Needless to say, it was embarrassing that I served a client an undercooked cupcake (which = a cupcake spit up in a napkin)-- luckily, the contract was complete :)

Im sad to say that Crave needs to focus more on its baking than its chicness.

Oh gosh once you taste these cupcakes they are hard to resist! My favorite is the strawberry - has fresh strawberries in the cupcake. The service is quick and you are never disappointed with the product. These are gourmet!

I must say these cupcakes are the creme de la creme of cupcakes. Gourmet indeed! I took my kids there for my daughter's 14th birthday and we all loved them. We tried the Red Velvet and Key Lime cupcakes. Red Velvet is the bomb. It's really fun watching the cupcakes being made while you wait. This place is a must do!

I honestly don't understand all the negative reviews for this place. I went today for the first time and was greeted with smiles. I asked for advice on which cupcakes were best and 3 of the people behind the counter offered suggestions and asked me what I liked so they could help pick the best cupcakes. So I had absolutely great service inside. When I finally bit into one of the cupcakes, it was moist, not too sweet and baked perfectly. Nothing dry here. Anyway, loved the place and will definitely go back on a different day to try some of their other varieties!

Wow, the place is ultra sleek,
the staff super friendly and efficient,
and the cupcakes are moist and
delicious. I suspect the negative
reviews are from wannabe competitors
who lost business to CRAVE.

First off, The owner's name is Brad Dorsey. Brad is this big shot....restraunt manager..part owner....so on...so on.."I own a stake in a L.A. sushi place...but I only own less than %1 percent"....you know, that type of wannabe aspiring global restraunt entrepeneur. He started this place with the financial backing of a big-shot Hollywood Movie Producer (I should have really put his title of H.M.P. in lower case...since I, or no one I know, has ever heard of the guy. In fact I can't even remember his name....though, I think he may be big in Germany...whatever). So here is Brad and h.m.p. , trying to replicate what they saw during a weekend trip to Beverly Hills...a gourmet cupcake shop. The only problem....they really don't have enough money to pull it off and are hedging on their mother's recipe for success. They start it all off...hiring people to build-out the inside, paint the walls, and paint those diamonds you see on the outside. Broke as they are...they decide to cut cost...don't pay for the help...and hope that mom will reveal the true recipe. Well......She didn't! The Cupcakes lacked the secret ingredient....so dry and tasteless. Their corner cutting appetite with construction, fed into their initial hiring phase...with employees not qualified to run a merry-go-round...and people skills even lacking to perform that position. The only thing that they could claim was a few cool circles on their exterior...a copied concept (imitation is the highest form of flattery)...and a broken down ego soon to be revived by upper management at your local Wendy's....Yee-Haa!! We have a job lined up!

Bottom-Line:
BAD FOOD...BAD MANAGEMENT...BAD KARMA...COOL CIRCLES!

I believe specialty shops should be...special. From the second I walked into Crave, I was greeted with austere plainness, a sort of clinical blandness in both color and design that was striking. Where were the Easter-egg colors I've come to associate with sweet shops? Where was the friendly, bubbly staff, so hopped up on sugar and endorphins that they practically endear you on the spot to buy more sweets than you should? For make no mistake, the staff was aloof, without any charm, and just as bland as the decor. But it didn't stop there. The cupcakes themselves are an abysmal confection, slathered with too-sweet frosting and cake that does not deliver the goods. The texture of the cake itself is dense and satisfying, but the flavor is just...insipid. If you want a good cupcake, check out Cupcakes Squared in Point Loma, CA.

I had heard alot about this place. I don't know if it is just because it is trendy that it is so popular or perhaps I just caught them on an off day. A friend brought me a cupcake from Crave one day knowing I had been waiting to try them and just hadn't made it in. I was so disappointed. I have had grocery store and mass produced packaged cakes that were better. I had 3 bites, dropped one bite out into the trash and tossed the rest of the cupcake in with it. It was bland, dry, dry, dry, ingredients tasted cheap and just overall gross. I am a big sweets fan and really thought I would love them and was so disappointed. I might try again just to see if I got a bad one or it was a bad day,but won't go out of my way to do so.

These cupcakes are just awful. The frosting was grainy with sugar, the cake part was dense and tasted odd. I got really sick about an hour after eating, save your money and get better cupcakes from Brookshire Bros store bakery. Or Little Debbie.

Pros: Pretty

Cons: Not tasty

OMG! This is the best cupcake I have ever tasted!!!! I wasn't a big cupcake fan until my husband gave me 3 delicious Craves cupcakes! They were all magnifique!!! The taste of both the cake and icing compliment each other and is not overwhelmingly sweet. I never liked cupcakes until I tried Craves because the others gave me a sickly, sugar coma effect feeling. I think the portions are perfect. Yes this is Texas but a good cupcake doesn't need to be too big. Crave's are just right for body, mind and spirit but even more for the palette. Congratulations on creating the worlds perfect cupcake!!!!

Cons: Not any

These cupcakes are the densest cupcakes I have ever eaten. You could use them to spackle a wall. They are extremely small and not worth the money...

Pros: Its Cute

Cons: The Food

I am a serious foodie! I had these today after wanting to try them for about a month now. I had the red velvet and everything about it was perfect. The cake down to the frosting was right on. It was very moist and high quality made cake, and perfeclty rich cream cheese frosting. The size was beyond generous for that of a cupcake. I have had Sugarbabies and I find them small, dry and tasteless. Crave really got that perfect homemade cupcake taste right. I have a strawberry sitting next to me and I can't WAIT to try it!

Our office has received a "gift" of these cupcakes on four different occasions, so I have had the opportunity to taste several different flavors and every one of them was horrid! The frosting is just ok, but the actual cupcake batter is disgusting. It tastes as if there was dry pancake batter in it. I would have thought that a store that called itself "CRAVE", located in Uptown Park, would provide a much better product than this. Thankfully, I have never paid for any of these cupcakes... that would be a real waste of $$.

If you want a truly delicious cupcake, got to Sugarbaby Cupcake Boutique....now that's something to write home about!

Icing leaves you OD'd from so much sugar!!!

And if you make it to the cake-you are left with feeling Duncan Hines at least is moist!

I attended an event at Neiman-Marcus where they were serving Crave Cupcakes. This was my first time to try them after hearing so much about them and let me tell you these cupcakes are simply divine. I have since visited this stylish bakery three times and plan on returning many more. Aside from the incredible cupcakes, the service and the attention to detail are first class. During my last visit, I was picking up a dozen I pre-ordered, and the cupcakes were ready and waiting, packaged beautifully and put in an elegant bag. One of the owners offered me a complimentary beverage to thank me for my purchase, and then one of their adorable girls carried my Crave bag all the way to my car. You do not get better service than this. And what makes this even more special is that everyone one of these cupcakes were baked and frosted to perfection. I'm telling you they were divine. These are the best cupcakes I've had and I've had them all from San Francisco to LA to New York. Crave is truly divine!

I went to Crave after reading all the reviews and thought I would do something special for my co-workers so I went and spent a lot of money for cupcakes. I've done this before from the Dessert Gallery with lots of thanks from my co-workers. Although everyone was very friendly and had lots of smiles, there was hardly any selection. My co-wokres and I are all crazy about chocolate and I could only get 2 chocolate espresso cupcakes, no double chocolate and the other 10 cupcake either were white cake with chocolate icing or chocolate cake with white icing. :-( Out of everyone that ate a cupcake - only one person said that it was really good, all others said thank you but agreed with me that the next time I should go back to the Dessert Gallery. Just our humble opinion.

I had high expectations for Crave's cupcakes but was let down...
They had only a few flavors available, and the basic chocolate one I chose was super dry and tasteless. I suspect they won't be around long when Sprinkles Cupcakes hits Houston in February!

We stopped in thinking a shop dedicated to cupcakes HAD to have delicious cupcakes. Umm, not so much. I don't see what the big deal is. I've had better cupcakes from the grocery store that were cheaper and didn't have junk all over them. The water does have cute labels.

So, I'm into sweets, and decided to go to Crave with a few friends upon a someone's suggestion. It's in Uptown Park--love the atmosphere. The design of the whole shop was chic and simple. The water bottles have a lovely design & the orange soda is delicious!
We each got a different flavor and the cupcakes were NOT soft, the cake had NO flavor, and there was just tooo tooo much overpowering icing. I was really surprised that this place gets such good reviews and rec's, because a place that specializes in cupcakes should have the best cupcakes. This place does not! I left disappointed : (

This past Saturday, we were all struck by Hurricane Ike which caused quite a bit of damage and most of us have been and still are without power. On Sunday morning, I decided to go to Uptown Park to see if my neighborhood Starbucks was open...but they were closed. However, Crave Cupcakes was open so I thought I'd go in to see if they had any coffee. Honestly, I'm not much of a cupcake fan or sweets in general so I had never been to Crave before Sunday -- so I had no clue if they served coffee or not. Not only did Crave have coffee, but they were giving their coffee away for free. And not just their coffee but their cupcakes too. I was floored by this gesture. In a difficult time of struggle, these guys were giving away their goods for free. As silly as it sounds, it made me proud to be a Houstonian, proud to be a Texan, and heck, proud to be an American. And I have to say the coffee was fantastic and the cupcakes were wonderful. Crave, you have a friend and a patron for life. Way to go, guys!

I love desserts but have been to many places in town just for their spectacular desserts. I went to Crave once after having lunch at a restaurant in the Uptown Park Plaza. I went with several friends and when we arrived to the bakery there were lots of people waiting in line for their cupcakes. As a group, we purchased several flavors and to sample all Crave had to offer. Yukkkk! First off, the presentation was a bit obring, just a little fondant seal/logo on top of the frosting. The cakes were dry and nothing special. The frosting tasted old and too sweet.

Too overpriced, too bland, too dry! Go elsewhere for your cupcakes!

My sis bought a box of 4 from Crave a week before. I believe she picked up the Red Velvet and Macadamia flavored ones. The Macadamia ones were actually pretty good. So my wife wanted to go check it out since we eat near the area for lunch every weekend.

Kitchen setup is pretty cool since you can watch the bakers make your cupcake, and there were alot of bakers in the back. Nice contemporary atmosphere in the bakery, but definitely not a place you can dine-in at since there are only 4 stools to actually sit on! So this is pretty much pickup and go. Although they displayed several flavors, and when I asked the cashier if she had any Macedamia cupcakes, she gave me a blank stare and said, "..um we aren't making that today, we only have these available...". What??? How do you only have 4 freakin flavors available, especially on a weekend when it's real busy? And also have about a dozen bakers in the back!

In either case, I picked the vanilla on chocolate, red velvet, orange and cranberry. Well when I cut into the cake, it just fell apart. They were so dry I swear I had to drink something with each bite. I had such high-hopes for this place given it had such great reviews, maybe I caught them on a "dry" day. In any case, I'll stick to the Cupcake Cafe, now that's some good stuff!

I am usually not critical when it comes to dessert, but after taste testing 8 different places for cupcakes for my wedding.. this one was the worst and the most expensive. I bought 5 different flavors, the only one that was half way decent was the redvelvet.. you cant really mess that up. but they looked so pretty i didnt want to eat them. after tasting them i didnt want to eat them. The icing was hard and they pile on the icing so far off the side to make it look larger then they really are. Instead of the cupcake flaking apart it broke off in chunks. I dont mind paying the money for a great cupcake if its awesome.. these were dry, icing was hard, the only thing that impressed me was the presenation but that was decieving. My suggestion i THE COOKIE JAR in montrose IT IS DELICIOUS! they were so great Instead of just tasting 2 different flavors for my wedding i ended up getting one of every flavor of 9 different flavors. OR if you are all the way in Katy, TX, OH LAA LAA is FABOULOUS! here cupcakes are huge they arent ur avg Cupcake. and she has a large variety of flavors from German chocolate, to bubble gum, to margarita. plus ohh laa laa is very cozy! Crave is just popular bc it is in uptown, and has a very trendy feel, there is really no place to sit eat and enjoy ur cupcake with company. These is also Tiara cakes her cupcakes are not bad alot better then crave, but hers taste like it was out of the box... But try the cookie jar or ohh laa laa those are the two best that i have found.

Ok, if I see a good review here again, I will know someone is lying. My mom and I have gone to Crave TWICE. The first time (2 weeks ago) we got Vanilla Coconut and Hummingbird. Although the Coconut icing was good, but we are suckers for coconut, the cake was not, it didn't taste Vanilla and it had an aftertaste, eww. The Hummingbird had an even stronger aftertaste. I mean you bit into it and it tasted like it was baked, even a little dry, but there was this aftertaste like raw dough, just an aftertaste, I don't know how to describe it. We didn't finish them, but went back again yesterday, because the first time was late at night and we did like the iced coffee. This time we got 6, we wanted to be fair, 2 Red Velvet were bland, not much flavor to speak of, 1Chocolate w/ Vanilla icing was ok, but the cake tasted like box cake, not homemade, 1 Banana was tasty but the bottom was mushy, eww again. Finally 2 Chocolate w/ Chocolate icing and some cream in the middle, that icing was thick like canned icing and not good at all. I put my fork through to the bottom to get a whole bite and had to let it out in my kitchen sink. It was so bitter, something was terribly wrong with that Chocolate cupcake. It honestly tasted like when you touch a battery to your tongue (when you were a kid that one time). I just don't know how else to describe it. I don't wan't to be this negative, but I am being completely truthful. I think Crave is making an honest effort to be this amazing cupcake shop, but it's not happening. The staff was helpful and friendly both times, but otherwise I'm devastatingly dissappointed.

OK. I almost didn't go to Crave because of some bad reviews that I've read...but after much thought I decided to try them anyway. I AM SO GLAD I DID! These cupcakes were perfectly moist and delicious. I tried the vanilla (icing) on chocolate, and my friend had the red velvet. I sat in my car and ate the chocolate cupcake, and I had to talk myself out of going back for seconds (it's so hard being on a diet). I am very picky about what I eat, and so far there aren't many bakeries in Houston that I like, but I simply adore CRAVE. I tried my first one yesterday, and I am going back today!! Very cute store also!

Went to crave to get a cupcake for my brothers bday. Staff was super friendly and helpful, they even wrapped the cupcake up in a box with a bow on it. Of coarse, while I was there we had to try one! I had the strawberry, it was amazing, even had strawberries in the cake!! The cupcake was moist and the icing was perfect. The others in my group had the vanilla and red velvet, which they said were also really good!

Crave cupcakes definitely lives up to its name because i crave their cupcakes weekly. The store is designed so that the customer focuses on the fresh cupcakes being made. I have been to several bakeries around Houston and Crave is by far my favorite. The product is being made in store all day long so you will surely receive a fresh cupcake.

I had Crave and I thought that it was ok I mean compared to a lot of the other bakeries that I have visited around Houston I would have to say it was the freshest products that I have had. The only thing is If you have been to Sprinkles this place is a splitting image of Sprinkles I truly thought it was a chain of Sprinkles just under another name. Honestly I think Sprinkles is WAY better...hopefully you all will have a chance to try both and then you can be the judge!
