Motorino

★★★☆☆
The odd timeline that brings a former Bouley cook to Williamsburg to open a pizza parlor might seem like a long story, but it's more simple for Motorino owner Mathieu Palombino, who has simply always loved the popular Italian food and wants to do it the justice he feels it deserves. A wood-fired brick oven brings Frankenstein creations to sizzling life, and Motorino offers a selection of gelati to cool things back down. A back patio is the perfect place in warmer weather to take a seat and a drink for a wonderful meal.

I had the magherita doc, and while the buffalo mozzarella was fantastic, the sauce was sour, and the crust lacked any flavor. The beet salad was ok flavor wise, but my boyfriends salad was full of egg shells! They gave my boyfriend a current menu, and me an outdated one, so I was trying to order things that they no longer offered. They ran out of diet soda, and the waiter told me that he *thought* they sent some one out for more, but that never materialized. All in all, not a pleasant experience. The highlight of the evening was a bottle of root beer soda - if that is any indication of the overall experience. BTW, it was super expensive (well given the fact that the pizza was so mediocre) - about $70 for 2 personal pizzas, 1 glass of wine, 1 bottle of root beer, and 2 beet salads.

Pros: nice atmosphere, nice waiter,

Cons: Limited menu, Subpar pizza

Had heard a lot of hype and o, pleasant surprise, it actually lived up to it. Appetizers not bad, but the pizza is where it's at. Tried several. Liked the white (filetti), but also the pugliese, and sopressata picante. Cool--but not too cool--vibe and pleasant waitstaff.

Pros: this place smells good

Cons: Just a pizza

Ok, ok, so it's not you're typical pizza joint in the city that serves pizza by the slice for a couple bucks, no, this place is different. The pizzas are unique, fingerling potatos, speck, brussel sprouts, etc. and are noticeably fresh. The proportion are thought through. This place isn't about stuffing you face full of grease and dough. The oven added a flavor that is unique which I find enjoyable but understand peoples reference to a burnt crust. My one minor complaint is the price which I find to be too high, regardless of quality.

Pros: Really good pizza, service, ambience. Close to L train. Easy parking. BYOB!

Cons: Pretty noisy and crowded at peak times.

By far the worst resturant i have ever been to. I ordered on the phone one time and not only did the girl mess up EVERYTHING but she was rude and snotty. Then i decided to go eat with my family and the whole time all i heard was the manager insulting and yelling at the waitstaff. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! Ontop of everything the pizza is burnt and overpriced.

Very subpar foood. Small portions and expensive. Rude staff. Don't waste your time or money here. This is the Italian section of Williamsburg. There are many great pizza places with in blocks of this one, that are MUCH MUCH better.

Pros: just about everything

Cons: cute building

I love pizza and especially neapolitan, so i was excited when I saw this place open up in my neighborhood. I was very disappointed though in the food. It's not good and the people that work there seem to hate their jobs. I would never go back.

Pros: can't really think of any at all unfortunately

Cons: many, but the bad food is the biggest.

Maybe even the entire city...
The only good thing about this place is the way it looks on the outside. It's a cute building but just admire it from the ouside...don't go in. You've been warned!!!! The staff is extremley rude, the food is horrible (my 5 year old cousin could make a better pizza) and it's totally over priced. $14 for what can only be described as a personal pizza with no cheese. Very sloppy presentation and NO TASTE. Don't waste your hard earned money here. McDonalds is a better choice... in fact a hot dog cart is a better choice!

This place is AWFUL!!! I live just a few blocks from this place and had been meaning to check it out since it opened and I was extremely disappointed when I did. When we called to place the order, our server, Jessica was totally rude! Then the pizza came and the delivery man said he had no change to break the $20 I had - probably a total lie to get a bigger tip than was necessary. Then I opened the box and found a tiny tiny pizza - there was a shred of cheese on the pizza and it wasn't that great. It's a total rip off and the service and product is bad! There are a lot of great pizza places in the neighborhood and this is not one of them. Stick to Carmines, Tony's, and especially La Locanda - just not Motorino!!!

The crust is pretty much straight up neapolitan. I've eaten the best of naples and the best of ny and this is up there, maybe the best.

Pros: Pizza, Pizza, subway a block away

Cons: can't eat it everyday

Food is bad, pizza is burned. The black char is the only flavor you can taste! Everyone at the table had burned pizza! Disgusting! No one wears gloves in the open kitchen! The owner can be heard yelling at waitstaff throughout the dining room. I was surprised to learn that this guy( the owner) worked in a restaurant before! I guess he is supposed to be a good chef????? Bathrooms were filthy and the back kitchen area looked gross too. Bottom line:Its pretty bad when you have to peel away a charred layer from your slice of pizza while listening to the owner humiliate your server! We will never go back.
