The baked goods at this bakery were terrible! The owners, Will and Shannon Whitecotton, are very unprofessional, rude and lack ethical values. Because baked goods sat in the bakery case for 3-4 days, it didn't take long for the public to determine that this business wouldn't be around long. I stopped four times for the renowned "smoothies" which were a carryover from the previous owner, Coconut Alley, a very successful kid-friendly business. On all four occasions they were out of the "mix" required. When the business closed this past May, the Whitecottons left a "note" on the door, giving no notice and leaving consumers, such as myself, with unredeemed gift cards. I caught them moving out of the business one day, both owners present, but neither had any cash! They assured me my $30 gift card would be honored! In spite of over 35 (thirty-five!!) phone calls to the owners, Will and Shannon Whitecotton, I've received no response and have experienced a $30 loss from the gift card. The recession is tough on all of us. Leaving this impression in a small town such as Belle Plaine assures they won't be welcomed back. Both Whitecottons have told me that they will ropen in New Prague MN when they are able to find a location. Previously, they had been operating out of the kitchen at Holy Trinity Church in New Prague. It's unfortunate that this church was, too, associated with people of the Whitecotton's ethics. I would advise all and everyone to avoid transacting business with the Whitecottons in any future business endeavor.
