The food was ok...but we would never return! The "mother" and the older man running this restaurant, are not the least bit welcoming. They were rude. Not the least bit hospitable...more fun at a funeral. I cannot believe it was reviewed by Chicago Magazine and Check Please...the photographs made the place look much better than it is...a hole in the wall with NO service.
The older man had body odor and was chauvenistic..flipped out when we asked for a little olive oil for the hummus...stood over us waiting for us to give him the bottle back.
When we asked for extra pita...he completely ignored us..went over and cleaned out a cabinet. When I brought it to the "mother's" attention...she snapped and said we couldn't have any more unless we paid for it.
We wanted water and had to go get it ourselves..out of a coleman cooler with a spigot. I'll really be surprised if this place makes it. The falafel was ok, the hummus was ok, the tabbouleh was ok...but the treatment ruined it.

Great hummus and fatoush, fast mediterranean food on the go. Prices are affordable take out in the range of 5-10 dollars and the portions are huge, falafel and wraps are also tasty

I really enjoyed the food here at Chickpea. Tried the baba ghanouj, tabouleh and falafel. Everything was really fresh and tasty. I felt like I was eating at Amni Suqi's home. She checked on us often to see if we were enjoying the food. Friendly place! Will definitely return.

Pros: fresh food, homey atmosphere, friendly service
