We took our 2 italian greyhounds to Preppy Pet in July 2011. They spent one week, and came home ill. The female (Bella) had developed campylobacter, and came home with bloody diarrhea and a fever of 103. The male (Lucca) developed ringworm and lost 30% of his body weight (3.5 pounds). After 2 visits to our vet, and shots and prescriptions of antibiotics, he suggested I call the kennel where there were and make them aware of the situation. I called and spoke to Ruth, less than a week after picking them up. When I informed her that they had both become ill, she said, "Well that happens when you have a lot of dogs in the same place" and when I told her about "ringworm", she said "That's a new one, haven't had that one before".

Our puppies are 14 months old, they have never been ill, and only visit to vet was for routine shots and being spayed and neutered. Since their visit to Preppy Pet, they have been to the vet 3 times. I understand that dogs can contract illness when around a lot of other dogs just like children in a daycare, but "campylobacter" is contracted from other dog FECES!! I signed a contract that my dogs would be provided for, cared for, fed and a vet would be called if there were any issues. They failed to meet the requirements of the contract, therefore they breached the contract and Ruth was not interested in rectifying the problem.
I would NOT recommend taking your enemy to Preppy Pet, let alone your dog.

We've been going to Preppy Pets for almost 3 years. The facilities are always very clean and well maintained. Our dogs are always excited when they get to visit the staff and come home happy and looking great after grooming and boarding. The staff is always helpful and seem to genuinely care about our boys.

Preppy Pet Suites is located in a relatively quiet section of Wilkes Barre. The staff is very nice and work well with the dogs. It is very loud when you try to call or even go to check in and the area for them to run in the back is pretty small and not grass, but filled with stone. I used this day care for a short vacation for two dogs and I think they did ok but I don't think I would use them again for more than a few hours to a full day.
