The building manager, accountant and leasing agents perversely seemed to take pleasure in behaving as unethically and unpleasantly as humanly possible.

Some lowlights of my horrific one-year experience living at The Fillmore

"...we'll use all the tools at our disposal, Hyams says. ... this is a business, AND IF I CAN MAKE ANOTHER DOLLAR ON RENTS, I WILL. There's other things you can do besides push the rents to add to the bottom line, Hyams says. In particular, Laramar is having some success with unbundling services and amenities from the base rent and up-selling those perks (along with their associated fees) into the rental agreement. Increased deposits, pet rents, and parking space fees have all been identified as possible areas at the Fillmore Center where additional operating income can be gleaned without jacking up advertised rents.
---
That should tell you everything you need to know about this complex, which former Mayor Willie Brown wanted to convert to low income housing since 20% of the units were not habitable when they built it. Unless you get your jollies interacting with incompetent and just plain arrogant jerks in the office, save yourself the torture and go elsewhere. If the plans are for you to end up in Hell, you will get there, trust me - but don't rush it by renting here.

These situations I will speak of actually happened, nothing is false. On our last day we turned in our keys and at the same time we SIGNED a letter stating WE CHOOSE AND DISIRE TO BE PRESENT AT THE WALKTHROUGH. This was the correct procedure as notified by the employee in the Resident Center that day. So 3 days later we show up and proceed with the walk. As we enter the unit we discover that walkthrough had already taken place without us. We return to the office to speak with someone about why we were not involved. Shortly after arriving a woman from the maintence department came to speak with us. Immediately she was on the defense, just straight up rude to us. In fact I started to talk and she said to me "stop talking and listen". I could not belive the lack of customer service. Buy I guess we don't matter because we moved on to somewhere better. Let me give you a couple of other reasons to continue your search for your next home. On January 1st 2006 at about 10 am we were robbed. My girlfriend walk out friends visiting from San Diego to the parking garage and wished them good bye. As she returned she found a man in our house holding a purse, laptop, jewelry box, and a portable DVD player. Luckily he ran past her causing no harm to her, but he got away with our belongings. When the "security patrol" came they sat at our kitchen table and made my girlfriend search our roommates room who's door was shut. REAL TOUGH! There was never any follow-up or letter concerning this day from The Fillmore center. One night returning home we found ourselves trapped in the elevator. The "security patrol" said it would be about 2 hours for a tech to come out. It's around 2am. I chose to call the SFFD from my cell and they had us out in 20min after arriving. Again no follow-up or letter concerning this day from the Fillmore Center. The Western Addition is a HIGH CRIME RATE AREA. I urge you to walk the surrounding streets and see how safe you feel.
