The teachers care about the children and are more than willing to take the time to discuss your child with you. Since our daughter has been there, she has grown tremendously, socially and academically. Billy has been very easy to work

Our son has attended Chesterbrook Academy-Weddington since the spring of 2012. It was a somewhat rough transition for all of us from staying home with him all day to starting him at half-days of school. We were so thankful for the flexibility that CBA afforded our family so that our son could slowly adjust to his new classroom, teachers, and friends.

Then, this school year, as I started to work a few days a week again, we transitioned our son from two half-days to three full days per week. This second transition was so much more difficult for my son, but every step of the way the staff at CBA met him where he was at, even when that meant I had to leave him in tears. His teachers have always been quick to scoop him up and reassure him that everything will be okay, and I can't tell you how many times any one of them have reassured me that my son will be okay and that they will be sure to contact me if they have any concerns during the day about my son's status. And, I have always been encouraged to call any time to check in on him with his principal or teachers. I can tell you without a doubt that I feel safe leaving my son in the hands of the staff of CBAW.

The curriculum at CBAW is fantastic, but we are most excited about the character education program that they have recently expanded to include my son's level. The children are evaluated three times per year as a way of measuring where they are at the beginning of the year, what they have learned by mid-year, and what they have learned at the end of the year. Using this tool and the curriculum, one can easily see how his/her child is meeting or exceeding state standards for different age groups, and I have been impressed at how much my child has learned at school. And to complement what goes on in the classroom, parents are provided with folders of their child's work and summaries of what was covered along with suggested activities to reinforce the learning. CBAW offers multiple ways for parents and families to get involved from fundraising and open houses to class parties and special events like Ladybug Release Day. There's always something going on at CBAW, and the staff there want you to be a part of your child's experience in every way possible.

Possibly the only drawback that I see with CBAW is that they do not offer organic food to the children. The cook at the facility strives to offer well-balanced and nutritious meals and snacks to the children, and great care is taken to ensure that food allergies are avoided. This is a knitpicky issue, but it's the only one I can think of as a possible improvement on CBAW.

Finally, I'd like to say a special word about the teachers at CBAW. These are hard-working, patient, kind, and very, very special educators who love the children that they teach. As a former teacher, I can tell you that they probably don't get enough recognition for their contribution from most of us, but I know that I could not possibly do the amazing work that they do with little ones. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the teachers and our principals, especially Ms. Kim, Ms. Carol, and Mr. Gordon. Chesterbrook Academy-Weddington has our unabashed endorsement. You won't go wrong sending your child(ren) to CBAW!
