My husband and I went to the Lighthouse for dinner last week. I believe this is my new favorite place.

Everything from the decor to the dessert is sheer genius. Granted, not everyone will like this place. Those without any sense of dining outside the parameters of fast food joints will truly be disappointed.
However, anyone with any clue of fine dining will cherish this little gem!

We started our meal with 4 appetizers. We were dining with another couple who had been there before, and per their suggestion, we ordered the mussels, crab cakes, buffalo shrimp and calamari. One word: AWESOME! There was enough for each of us to try everything and no complaints were voiced from any of us. I want to bring extra attention to the calamari. Now, for those of you without taste buds that enjoy rubbery calamari, this is NOT for you! However, anyone who welcomes a perfect symphony of seasoning with a very light breading, this is something you will truly appreciate! I honestly did not want to stop eating it! Crab cakes were fantastic! I really believed that they were the result of freshly caught seafood introduced to a party of seasoning, seared to perfection. Following that were the mussels. One acronym sums it up...OMG! Admittedly, I have never sampled mussels, and was reluctant at first. But after trying it, I think I have a new best friend! They were served bathing in a fabulous buttery sauce which was great for dipping bread. Wonderful, simply wonderful. Buffalo shrimp was another perfect dish. This is not what you typically get as a buffalo shrimp appetizer. Most places toss you some shrimp slathered in BBQ sauce and sold as buffalo shrimp. This was a perfect balance of taste and texture. It was "Goldilocks"....translation? It was just right! Not to hot, not too bland. Another hit as far as I can tell.

Next up: entrees. I had the Sea Bass. It left me speechless. Fantastic! It didn't leave me thinking it needed more "anything." It was delicious. It was served with a side of veggies that were just as fantastic. My husband ordered a steak, as did one of our other dining friends. SO MUCH STEAK! It was a generous cut with an aroma that beckoned you to indulge. The table quickly grew silent as they savored each piece of that great steak! Wedge salad, also ordered, was the usual huge chunk of iceberg brimming with all the makings of a great salad.

Desserts, which we took home for the kids, consisted of a decadent huge slice of chocolate cake topped with REAL whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate. The other dessert which followed us home was an over-sized warm cookie topped with the identical real whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel. Scoops of Fair Oaks ice cream accompanied those sweet treats. I will frequent the Lighthouse again and again. I feel confident that every experience I have here will live up to my expectations, and the food will always be as fabulous as it was for us on this visit. Often, people only voice their opinions when they are NOT happy with an establishment....I think the satisfied ones need to be heard just as much!
