A lot of my friends have been to Chipotle and have raved about it. I however was not so excited. In NYC there are so many great places to eat and so many authentic restaurants to try on could hesitant to consider a commercialized Mexican eatery. While studying at the New York Public Library one of my friends suggested we take a study brake and head over to the Chipotle in midtown. We were there later on in the early evening so the crowds weren??t a major issue. The menu is pretty small; chicken, steak, barbacoa or carnitas. You can get it stuffed in a burrito, tacos, in a cardboard bowl or on a salad.
I chose to have it on a salad and my friend had his in a card bowl (practically the same thing). I absolutely LOVE the vinegarette dressing! It is tangy and tastes amazing with the spices in the barbacoa. The lime rice I do enjoy, but usually don't put it on my salad. I go for barbacoa, pinto beans, pico de gallo, and cheese atop my lovely bowl of greens. Then smother it with the dressing, of course. After a few bites one of NY??s harshest food critics (yours truly) had been converted to a born again Chipotle lover! The fresh and flavorful food is great, especially when you could have opted for a double bacon cheeseburger instead. It is a little more expensive then an average burger joint though, I usually spend a little over $10 when I get the salad, chips/guacamole and a large drink. Chipotle is definitely a healthy alternative if you skip the tortilla, leave off the sour cream and ask for half the cheese. Not a bad deal if you don??t mind spending a few extra dollars.
