I took my vehicle here today to have it detailed. I had previously taken it in for a quote, asked particulars about cleaning my seatcovers (which were a special order/wetsuit material made for my make/model of vehicle) and stated my expectations for a "complete overhaul". I dropped it off at 9am, and was called at 3:20pm when it was finished.

Unfortunately I was distracted at the time of picking up my vehicle, and didn't give it a thorough inspection before paying and driving home. My husband's flight from overseas had been delayed and I was trying to arrange for him to be home for christmas. To pick him up in his newly detailed vehicle. Or so I thought. . .Before I left the body shop, I asked if it was difficult to clean the seat covers. I was advised that it was, and that he (the owner-also the person who "detailed" my vehicle) had the same material in his own vehicle.

The exterior looked nice. It had been very dirty, as my daycare provider lives on a dirt road. However upon returning home and opening the sliding doors, it had very obviously NOT been thoroughly cleaned. The milk spots from my 1 year old were still on the seat. The dust/dirt from all the boxes I had been moving (we sold our house) was still on the armrests and the backs of the seats. The cupholders were still a mess. It didn't even smell as if there had been a cleaning product used. . . I could go on.

Upon getting it home, I took a washcloth and wiped the spot where milk had spilled and it came RIGHT OFF. A fingernail to the cupholder to realize that they didn't even attempt to clean them OR THEY WOULD BE CLEAN. I immediately called Shaw's began cataloging all the things I noticed that hadn't been done. At this time I was informed that the 150.00 that I had paid was for a "Basic Detail Job" which included a wash/wax/vacuum and nothing more.

I pointed out that I had been in for a quote, and had specifically mentioned the seatcovers amongst other things, had also checked with local competitors who offer the same service for the same price (give or take 10.00) and that was NOT a basic service price.

I drove my vehicle back to Shaws. He cleaned the seats. He gave me a 1/2 price coupon on my NEXT detail job at his shop. He at no time offered to refund me any money on the current sub-par job he had done, Neither did he look for anything else he might have missed. As I have completely run out of time, at this point I leave to get my kids from childcare. I immediately start noticing even more seriously irritating things that hadn't been done. . .BASIC STUFF. Cleaning the carpets between the front bucket seats???? Do I have to call back now and point out those things too?? It seems to me that I shouldn't need me to bring those things to his attention.

I feel as if I have been taken advantage of by Shaw's Auto. I also am very disappointed to not have the wonderfully detailed vehicle I was hoping to have to pick up my husband from the airport. Is it cleaner than it was when I dropped it off? Sure. Did I get my money's worth? Absolutely not.

Based upon my experience, I would under NO CIRCUMSTANCES recommend you take your vehicle to this body shop. There are plenty of other services within a reasonable distance that I am confident would do a superior job for the same price.

Hopefully this saves someone from major disappointment.
