I was given a gift card to Merry Maids 3 years ago at my baby shower. I finally got around to redeeming it this past Sat. \nI called Thur to make a reservation for the coming weekend. I was told Sat was available and that they would call me Fri to confirm the time. Fri I received a call that 2 cleaning women would be coming Sat between 10:30-11. The woman on the phone was very kind, pleasant and accommodating. I advised her I would be using a gift card for $150 and she said that I would have to pay an additional $5 but that the total would cover 2 cleaning women for 1.5 hours. Expensive but, ok. I gave her my address and specified which buzzer it was.\n9am Sat morning, I'm heading out to the post office when I open the door and find two cleaning women standing there with their cleaning supplies. They didn't know which buzzer to push and had just been standing out there. I told them the appt time was between 10:30-11 and that, unfortunately, I still had quite a bit of my son's clutter to put away before they started so the cleaning could be more efficient and that I had to run to the post office. They agreed to come back at 10:30, the original appointment time.\n11:15, they show up again. I had to run out and, before I left, clarified that they would be there for 1.5 hours (""yes""), that it was ok that I left them there alone (""yes"") and handed them payment in the form of my $150 gift card + an additional $40 to cover the $5 overage and a tip for the two of them.\nI came home a few hours later to a clean enough space given they only had an hour and a half. I didn't care too much since I had paid with a gift card anyway. \nCome Sun morning when I go to pour my son's cereal, I notice the glass jar I keep his cereal in is gone.\nMon morning I touch base with the office. Turns out the glass jar had been broken so they disposed of it. Never mind my 2-year old plays there every day and has never broken anything. The office was kind enough to offer to order a new one for me but the $5 wasn't worth all the hassle. The rep then brought up that since the jar was broken, she could let the $5 additional charge go but the women had actually stayed for 2 hours and that we'd have to discuss how I would pay for it. \nThis is where I finally got upset. Not only did they show up an hour and a half earlier than our allotted time, they broke something of mine, then stayed longer than they should have and didn't even communicate to the office that I had paid an additional $40 above the gift card, covering the $5 balance AND a $35 tip for the two of them.\nNot only would I never use this service again for myself, I would never recommend it to anyone else. \n
