Caring makes the difference has been their motto since I started taking my pets to Affordable Petcare NW. The doctors and staff are compassionate and professional. They offer many services that other places would send you to a specialist for. I have visited my pet in the kennel area after surgery and all the animals were clean, comfy and cozy. Animal drugs are expensive but Affordable Petcare will offer a written prescription to buy meds online or even free samples if they have them. I have seen hundreds of animals come and go while in the waiting room over the years. They looked as if they were satisfied with their experience at the vets. I wish I could say the same for their owners. Lots of rude people ignoring their pets, on cell phones, letting their kids run all over, allowing their dogs to bark on and on without correction, and then yelling at the receptionist for one thing or another while their dog urinates on the chairs.
The team at Affordable Pet Care have taken care of my two shitzu's now for 2 years. I feel very comfortable with all the doctors there. Mimi and Taco are always happy to go there.
Dr. Earl and his entire staff have gone above and beyond their call of duty!! They are truely concerned about my pet and treat him like their own. I live on the other side of town from Dr. Earl but I do not mind the drive at all! He is more affordable than vets I have used in the past and much more compassionate! I recommend Affordable Pet Care to all of my friends! Trust me, you and your pet will feel right at home!
You know how you always dread going to the doctor and taking your pets to the vet? Well, Affordable Pet Care N.W. is the most compassionate clinic in San Antonio. They make you forget the negative aspects of going to the doctor and instead, make you feel welcome and comfortable. The staff REALLY cares about the wellness of your pet and of you. The moment you walk in the door you are greeted and conversed with. ALL of the doctors are HIGHLY SKILLED, as well as the technicians and receptionists. Dr. Earl and his staff tries their ABSOLUTE best to go out of their way for you and your pets!
Our dog went in for a routine dental and Dr. Earl (the owner) found an anal sac Adenocarcinoma tumor. This type of tumor doesn't usually reveal itself until it has metastisized into the lungs and spine but thanks to Dr. Earl's thorough exam he was able to remove it before it spread and became fatal. Our family feels very blessed and we are eternally grateful!
The front office staff is exceptional too! Very cheerful and always greets me cheerful upon arrival by name!. Linda who does the weigh in is always offering coffee to those in the waiting room and takes good care of her clients and THEIR OWNERS!
I happened to be there when an a dog was brought in barely breathing and the staff responded quickly and compasionately to the emergency. I highly recommend Affordable Petcare! You will not be sorry! Thanks goes out to you and your excellent staff Dr. Earl!
We have been taking our pets to Affordable Pet Care for years. Every visit has been a positive experience. The clinic is very clean and well managed. The staff have always been friendly and professional. The doctors are very compassionate and competent. We moved out of the San Antonio area but continue to make a special trip to Affordable Pet Care for all of our pet care needs because they are the very best and we are so impressed with their service.
I have been taking my cats to Affordable Pet Care for many years. All of the doctors are kind and compassionate. I feel as though they treat my cats like their own. The staff is competent and professional. I tell all my friends about Affordable Pet Care Nw.
I love this animal hospital. All the Doctors are great and they really care about my pets as if they were their own. The staff is friendly and super nice. I have been using APC for my little furry babies for years and I would recommend them to anyone!
Took my cat to get an allergy shot, the vet was very rough with her.
He seemed mean and treated me like as if i was a little naive girl.
After he told me what medications they were going to have to give my cat I asked how much it would cost and he seemed very rude and sighed loud and left the room to check the price.
I was very offended that he sighed when it was not even not that much work to go check how much money i was going to have to pay him and it was a reasonable question.
Pros: decent pricing
Cons: rude staff
A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I HAD TAKEN MY MALE CAT TO GET FIXED. I DROPPED HIM OFF ON A THURSDAY EVENING AND FRIDAY AFTERNOON THEY CALLED MY AND TOLD ME OOPS!! WE DECLAWED HIM BY ACCIDENT TOO! I WAS FURIOUS SO WHEN I PICK HIM THE FOLLOWING DAY THEY BROUGHT HIM TO ME IN HIS CRATE NOT BANDAGED STILL FULL OF BLOD ON HIS PAWS AND THE CRATE!!! I TOLD HER I TRUST YOU WITH MY ANIMAL AND YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT!! THATS LIKE REMOVING ITS LEGS AND TELLING ME SORRY!!! WELL AFTER THAT I LIVED IN AN APARTMENT SO I HAD TOO SPEND MORE TIME & MONEY TO BUY SEPERATE LITTER AND TAKE HIM TO ANOTHER VET TO FIX THERE MISTAKE! AS FOR MY CAT HE HAS TOO BE TAKEN TOO THE VET QUITE OFTEN TO REMOVE THE NAIL THAT STILL GROWS DEFORMED IN HIS PAW EVERY SO OFTEN!!!! THE BEST PLASE TOO TAKE THIS FREDERICKSBURG ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!!
Pros: total nightmare disaster
Our kitty jumped from our fireplace and ended up on a chair leg and was shortly afterwards limping and crying. We knew we needed to take her to a vet, but as it was 2:30 in the morning, our options were limited. We ended up taking her to an emergency vet who wanted to charge us over $500 for an exam, an x-ray and a bandage. When I told them I could not afford it, they turned me away.\r
In the morning, I called Affordable Pet Care and spoke with Monique who was very helpful and friendly. She squeezed in an appointment as soon as possible and gave me an estimate over the phone (about 1/3 the cost of the ER vet).\r
The doctor was prompt, gentle, and kind with my kitten and even worked with me on the pricing for the services.
Pros: kind staff, affordable prices, friendly atmosphere
Cons: none that I noticed
The people there were very friendly! The tech and the vet were both very nice to myself and my cats and the receptionists were all very sweet. The price was affordable, as their name states. If I need vet services again, I will definitely go to them.
Pros: Short wait time
I spilled chicken noodle soup on my table and cleaned it up with a towel. When I came back from the movies I discovered my dog had eaten the towel. No big deal, until 2 days later with it was stuck coming out the dog (his name is Snackers). Snackers was scooting all over the rug trying to get it out and it was making brown smears all over the rug. The people here got it out, but they couldn't help me get the stains out of my rug.
Pros: They can get towels out of dogs.
Cons: They won't clean your rug.
If you are an animal lover or your cat needs a shot, these are the people to go to. They are friendly and reliable, quick and thorough. I enjoy going to the vet everytime I take my dog there. They even help me out when he (a 110 lb Weimeraner) is out of control. Overall, a great experience everytime, I got lucky that I called them first.
In reading a few of the other reviews, I was quite suprised... I've been taking my dog there for almost 3 years, and she loves them there! They know her by name and give her hugs and kisses all the time! Some of the receptionists (others claim are so rude) take my dog behind the counter while I check out and give her more love and kisses. Another one even helps me to my car by taking her for me so I can unlock my doors and put her in her seat belt. The techs are so sweet to her, and the vet well my dog loves him so much she can't keep still. A trip to the vet for my dog is a treat for her and for myself. The prices are great, and if my baby is happy so am I. :)
Pros: excellent staff, great prices
Cons: location upon entering kind of dangerous...
When I took all four of my cats in to be neutured, I was expecting a whopping bill as all of them had to have shots and then be neutured. I was very, very happy with the end price. They gave me a ""group"" deal on them as they were all brothers and all born on the same day. I have always recommended Affordable Pet Care to everyone and have never had ""rude"" treatment by the receptionist or by any of the technicians. Maybe the other people just came on bad days or they were supersensitive, but I have not found this to be true of anybody there. Keep up the good work and keep the prices low. Thanks so much.
Pros: Low price, great care
Cons: A little hard to get to - Bandera traffic is horrible and so is Basse
I will admit, the prices are better than your average pet care center. The ladies at the front desk are polite, and the one older lady is wonderful to our dogs, she actually cares about them and comes around the counter and out to the waiting room to pet them.\r
I cannot say NEARLY the same for the technicians. One girl didn't even take my dog's temperature, and just guessed so she didn't have to do it. \r
They needed to draw the fluid from their veins (this site censors the word) for a heart worm test so they could continue to give our dogs medication. It is ridiculous, they have never been off of heart worm medication...they aren't going to have any! But they were convinced, and we had to pay an extra $37 per dog for these tests. \r
The technicians were very rough with my dogs. I warned them various times to be gentle and move slowly around the more shy of the two dogs. She acted like she didn't hear me, and made rough movements, wasn't gentle at all, and was obviously inexperienced with needles. Dogs aren't stupid. They can sense fear and inexperience, and it made my dogs even more fearful to know she couldn't be trusted. After a complaint to the front desk, the head veterinarian had to do the samples because by now the dogs were very upset, and I was even more so.\r
Basically, the technicians are inexperienced, lazy people who don't have the slightest bit of care for the animals they are supposed to be helping. \r
Next time, I'm going directly to the person in charge so I don't have to deal with those people again.\r
Up until now, the dogs loved going to the vet.
Pros: Cheaper perscriptions than regular vets, parking,
Cons: Horrible technicians, unnecessary charges that you have to pay in order to get what you need.
I had taken my pets to APC for almost 20 yrs & had respect & trust for their services.I had over looked their receptionist's negitive attitude, to being overwhemled with work. This past March 06\r
I took my pet in & when I asked for my bill, I was quoted three different prices by three different\r
receptionists.I was handed an invoice with a previous & current balance ?? This was wrong & asked to speak to manager, Gerri Combs. I was given a new bill, which I paid and left feeling disappointed, & distrustful of APC. Higher management requires to invest time in updating & briefing their (upfront office) employees in common courtesy, accounting & overall professionalism. I have, since acquired a new vet's services.\r
Pros: vet's services ( professional work )
Cons: "some" up front offices employees require to act in a civilized manner.
Well im sorry to say but the reception area is sometimes hard to deal with. The first time I called the receptionist, didnt get her name, she was quite rude. However, once I got there the techs and our vet were extremely helpful. I compared their prices to all of the other vet clinics in town and they were truly the only ones with resonable prices. BELIEVE ME...I had to go to another clinic for an emergency and spent way too much money compared to the prices I could get there. I think, because of the fact that they are the only ""affordable"" care around they end up getting overwhelmed. If you are a patient person, and can get over the fact that sometimes people may be overwhelmed, then I reccomend them.
I will never go to this vet again. I'd been before and was treated rudely the receptionist Dottie. I just let it go. This time I went and was treated rudely by Linda Walker, a vet tech. I could not believe how ugly she was to my dog. I know people have bad days. However, this woman's behavior was horrible. Unreal - Ms. Walker - find another job. I heard you were helpful & could get me extra medicines as you have your friends. Well, you were rude!
Pros: Convience of location
Cons: Linda Walker was rude & Dottie was rude before.
The staff was friendly, understanding, helpful and very conmpassinate. We also saved quite a bit compared to other Veterinary Clinics we checked with. We are very happy and will make them our primary care for all our animals.
