Anderson Honda is truly a great car dealer experience all around. They willingly give phone quotes, and their prices are the LOWEST around. Then the customer service is excellent, walking you through the process as quickly as possible with NO pressure to purchse anything you don't want/need. Dani and the sales manager, Sam, helped me this time around. Both lovely, both strait forward, both really interested in helping me purchse my CR-V with no problems. This is our fourth Anderson purchase in the family, and even though we always shop around just in case, we continue to return to Anderson b/c they're the best. I considered the Nissan Rogue this time around, but the customer service at Anderson won me over the lousy pressure cooker of the Nissan dealer.
Their service department is excellent too. They give excellent customer service, friendly staff and high quality work. I cannot recommend them enough.
I just leased a 2011 Honda Civic LX through Anderson Honda from Jack Puls. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish; Jack was very thorough and a great guy to work with. All of my preferred options for make and color were presented and always with the best deal in mind. I would highly recommend Anderson for your next Honda purchase or lease.
I used the Autobytel website to initiate a bid for a 2011 Honda Civic. I heard back from Anderson Honda, and specifically Luiz Pereira immediately. Of all the dealers giving me a quote, they were the most straight forward. The bid had no hidden costs and included the destination fee. He also gave me a $300 low price guarantee that I took him up on and he was very professional about this as well. Overall a very positive experience.
My wife and I did most of our price comparison and negotiation over phone and email. So when we got there, there wasn't anymore haggling. That's the good part. Our experience with Les Leonardo, the salesman, was also ok.
When we got to the finance department, a totally different story. That's where Sanjay the finance guy tried to rip us off. He told us lies after lies to get us to purchase the Honda Care service contract. He made the 2011 Honda Odyssey sound like a piece of junk that'll fall apart the moment we drive it off the lot. And he blatantly lied to us that we'll get our money back at the end of the contract if we have no claims against it. "Honda is doing this because this is a first year model", he said.
Well, guess what? Do some research online and you'll find that Honda makes no such offer! Honda's FAQ on Honda Care says, "If your Honda Care contract expires by time or mileage, no refund is due you from Honda. Some dealers, as an inducement for you to purchase a service contract, will include a separately purchased insurance policy that may refund whatever you paid for the service contract if it expires and you have not filed any claims."
And pay special attention to these final two lines (emphasis added): "These insurance companies are NOT affiliated with Honda and Honda DOES NOT endorse them. The terms and conditions of these policies make it so that very FEW people ever collect on them."
I can't believe that in this day and age of Yelp and Google, this kind of unscrupulous practice still exists. It makes me so mad!!!
My Civic with only 3300 miles developed this nasty grating sound when driving. Was prepared to battle the dealership for warranty fulfillment. Was pleasantly surprised from start to finish regarding my experience with Anderson Honda service. From the sympathetic service person who took my call explaining the situation, who then said all I needed to do was call when the tow truck was on its way and they would take it from there, to Francis, who patiently explained the problem ( a rock had gotten stuck and was causing the noise), didn't charge me at all for service, sent the Courtesy van to my house to get me and bring me to the dealership to get my car (when another service technician had intimated that that might not be possible , saying the service person I was dealing with had to OK it) , to giving me his card and saying he would be happy to be my point of contact in the future for any service needs or questions, I could not have been more pleased.
Have been Anderson Honda customer for four years and car owner for 50 years. Very competent service, always on time, fair prices. They never push an expensive solution if a cheaper one is available. I have dealt with three different service managers at Anderson and all have been straight shooters, something I really value since I despise manipulation and indirectness and half-truths.
Simply the best dealership I've run across in 50 years.
I use Anderson for my Honda Accord V6 service all the time. They are very professional. No bullying or pressure selling tactics. They say the way it is. They will tell you if a problem is low risk or high risk situation. And allow you to make a decision without putting you under duress. Have internet access while you wait to pick your car up. Definitely recommend them for your Honda service needs.
I give Anderson Honda 1 star not because of their cars but because of their horrible customer service (specifically to the fleet manager: Joe Tran). Unless you go car shop with an old man or make sure that you do not dress so casually. I bought a brand new Honda Civic LX from them in 2009. It was during Memorial Day promotion and the car was cheaper than anywhere else. At the time, I went car shopping with my brother-in-law. He is not a mechanic, car lover or anything but it is always good to go shop with someone, not just for buying cars. When all the buying was done, Joe kept insisting me to take his business cards and he said he looked forward to deal with me in the future.
Keep that in mind, today I drove my girlfriend, who is currently looking for a car, to Anderson and we requested Joe Tran to help us with the pricing and all. At first, he seemed nice as I said I bought a car here before. However, the more we talked, the more I felt that he wanted to push us away. During the conversation, he mentioned that the dealer is having two 2010 Civics at 16k in the lot. They are at 16k because the 2011 Civics came out. I asked if he would give us better price since last time I was here, I got my car for that same price although next year model was not out yet then. He went nuts and said (in Vietnamese) "if you don't buy, that's fine, go to other dealers, and remember if you ever come back here, go with your father, because you do not know anything about car." For your information, he did not just say that "you do not know anything about car" once.
Maybe I and my friend are not mechanics, but we do know what to look for when buying a car. Last time I was there. I was going to trade-in my old Toyota Corolla, it was about $3900 on KBB back then. However, he fooled me by telling that I would not get even 1k for that car if I do trade-in, and that if I sell it to him privately, he could give me 2k. I went to other dealers and no one would do that. Others would take in your used car and do a estimation first before giving a trade-in value. Anyways, in the end I sold it on craigslist for $3300.
We left Anderson Honda, feeling like we just got slapped in the face. Maybe California is one of the most liberal state in the US, but there are some places here that underestimate the knowledge of us, women. That I can understand because nothing is perfect. However, for places that are trying to sell you their products, it is unacceptable.
I decided to give this review because I thought that people should know about Joe and avoid dealing with him if you ever come to Anderson Honda in the future.
Also, their inventory is not that great anymore. Most used 06-09 Civics are above 15k. I'd rather buy a brand new car instead.
My shopping experience in Anderson Honda was really pleasant when I applied for the quotes, tested driving in the Saturday afternoon after a minor shower, and then got my car away on the next Monday. I really thanks to my dealer, Mr. Les St. Clair, who helped me on the many detailed instructions.
Was shopping for a 2010 Honda Fit Sport A/T - and had used edmunds.com, kbb.com and costco's auto buying program to get several quotes from dealerships all around the bay area and even northern California. Anderson Honda's price wasn't the lowest - but they offer a $300 price beat guarantee on published quoted prices - granted the other dealership has the car in stock that they're quoting. Well, got the confirmation last week that they could beat my lowest quote by $300, I was worried though because the OTD email I asked my sales rep Mari Delgado, did not specifically say destination was included - so several other dealerships I was telling about my lowest price quote were trying to dissuade me from visiting Anderson due to their theory that the prices would change. A few other dealerships said, watch for the bait and switch, watch the destination not be included, watch for the accessories to be tossed onto the deal or already installed without your ok.
Well, after a busy week of work, I made an appointment on Thursday 10/07/10 to visit Mari Delgado and purchase the car after I had secured financing thru my credit union. My appointment was at 6pm, but due to traffic in the evening + the Giants playoff game adding to the general mess, and my commute from Albany, CA to Palo Alto, I ended up arriving 30 mins late to my appointment. I watched the sales people inside the sales lobby eye me as I arrived with my father, but they did not make me feel like they were ready to pounce, it was a very mellow and laid back atmosphere. I told the salesmen that I had an appointment with Mari, and they led me out of the sales building to the much more sparsely furnished internet/financing building. The internet building feels so put together, and not really a functioning building, but there's 4-5 round tables with a few chairs at each table and at the far corner a small play area for small children. I took a seat and waited for Mari to arrive, however, after a few minutes, Luiz Pereira came out and introduced himself and informed me Mari had to leave work today due to her wisdom teeth being pulled and Luiz had been assigned to help me close the deal.
My father and I asked to see the car that we were there to purchase and we went immediately to the back of the building to where there were a half dozen or so Fit Sports parked and got into one of the silver models for a quick test drive. The test drive went very smoothly, drove back to the dealership and parked the car in the customer parking area. While parked, I tested out the USB connection in the car with my new ipod nano (it didn't work, but I had an older nano that worked - i'd read about the incompatibility with the latest iPods so i was not shocked.) Luiz' demeanor and sales approach was extremely laid back and he was very polite and friendly with my father and I. As we left the vehicle he told me that they would wash the car, and told me about the alarm system the dealership had installed on the car - informing me that it was $800. I immediately said that I didn't want the alarm and Luiz stated that they would deactivate it.
We went back to the internet area - sat down at a table - Luiz asked for my agreed upon email paperwork confirming the price (BE SURE TO PRINT OUT YOUR EMAIL COMMUNICATION BEFORE YOU GET THERE - they're big on you having the documentation as proof) and I gave him the emails I had exchanged with Mari. From that point, Luiz offered the 0.9% apr loan as I was financing the purchase, we went thru that required paperwork, got the insurance information faxed to them, and waited another hour or so as things were confirmed. Luiz kept coming back with updates, but it was still, very mellow, and I kept expecting a huge - "we can't do this price" speech, but it never came.
In fact, Luiz left a Honda accessories booklet with us, but did not explain the options or pricing in it at all to us. Though I'd planned to decline optional equipment, I still wanted to know what was available to me. Luiz gave me a full tank of gas, the car had 7 total miles on it, no accessories and Ace in financing was a low pressure guy - when we declined the honda care he said, ok, but no one usually declines it, would have been off the total but my dad wanted to buy it so I agreed.
No tricks, very straightforward folks and the deal was a deal no altering and nothing added. Have to thank Manuel too for helping with emails/the appointment as well. I expected the worst but got a great deal instead. Recommend them highly.
I recently showed up on a busy Friday afternoon with a small but irritating service problem. I fully expected to be turned away but i thought I could at least make an future appointment or drop the car off. Service advisor James Mattox stopped what he was doing
and jumped on my problem. He was courteous and efficient, fixing my problem in 20 minutes while I never left my seat. I was already a customer having purchased three cars over the years; but James didn't know that. You have a great employee in James
and he reminded me why I keep coming back. I owned a BMW dealership for 15 years and when we found an employee like Mr. Mattox we made sure we hung on to them.
I've helped our family purchase over 10 cars from dealerships, and did tons of online research before landing at Anderson Honda. So needless to say, I knew what I was getting into and had very minimal expectations. Yet even despite some early miscommunication with these guys, my experience at Anderson simply blew me away.
Gus was our salesperson and was always courteous, professional and had this genuine willingness to make sure we were happy with our transaction. It's the type of treatment you'd expect from a luxury dealership, yet Anderson at the same time is known for having the lowest prices on Honda's! Crazy. I even met John Anderson himself who greeted us to make sure we were having a great experience. Wow!
Bottom line... they have great prices coupled with great service... extremely rare combination for dealerships.
Been here for 4 yrs for oil changes every 5k miles/6 months for my Civic Hybrid. Their service department is excellent, especially Jim. I've never had a problem, and they're often done with my car in 1 hour. Plus they provide free wireless internet, coffee, a big screen TV, clean bathrooms, comfortable seating, toys for the kids, and an airy dealership hall while you wait. Plus free shuttle.
They top off fluids, check tire pressure, set it to the psi level I request, and do a decent assessment of the car's condition every time it is serviced, which I like. Last year, they warned me about the low status of my 12V battery and strongly recommended me to replace it, which I ignored. Subsequently, the car failed to start 2 wks later on a cold morning, and I had to call AAA . I will listen to their advice in the future!
Go here for great, reliable, and consistent service for your Honda. And watch for service coupons on their website. Also try to come on the weekdays to avoid the crowd.
The service people are all quick and efficient and polite. They explain what they need to do, offer options, and tell you (if you ask) whether you can defer something and what that will mean. They will answer questions over the telephone if they can. I always have my car serviced regularly and I prefer going to a dealer with Honda-trained mechanics. The rest is convenience, attitude and luck. For me, all three of those have been excellent.
I bought my last two cars at Anderson Honda. They are both Honda Accords. The buying process was straight forward and I was very pleased with it.
I also go to Anderson Honda for my maintenance. In a word it is OUTSTANDING ! Their service consultants, Eric Lee, Jim McLaughlin and James Mattox are the best. I sincerely mean that. Everything is always looked after in both of my cars. The service is done on time and always done correctly. I can't say enough great things about Anderson. It's super !!!
I usually am very stressed out about buying a car, but my experiences at Anderson Honda have been very good. We purchased a Honda Fit for my daughter two years ago and decided to go back to Anderson's for another new car purchase. We have also been very happy with Anderson's service department (I even bring my Acura RL to Anderson for service).
Both of the Sales Associates we dealt with were very helpful and patient. One gave me his cell number for questions, and also alerted me to a few used vehicles that might have met our special needs (I have a disability that requires some unique vehicle features).
We got a great deal and great value on our trade in (far more than the Toyota dealers offered). For trades, Anderson has a convenient form to fill out prior to coming in that assesses the value of your trade-in.
We ended up purchasing a Honda Civic for my wife and got a great deal and financing. Since our primary Sales Associate was with another customer, he introduced us to another associate who was very helpful---no pressure, no bait & switch, and excellent product knowledge.
Believe it or not, I even enjoyed the finalization process with Anderson's finance department (same guy who did the financing on our Fit).
I am a repeat customer and plan to repeat again when I have to buy a car for my other daughter. That's the strongest recommendation I can give any car dealer.
I've been going to Anderson to years to get my car serviced. They always try to accommodate my schedule when making my appointment. I really like that they have an option of waiting for your car or they offer a shuttle service so you can get what you need to get done while you're without your car.
The staff have always been so nice and have been able to answer any question I've had with my car.
I wouldn't take my car anywhere else but Anderson Honda!
I recently had a problem with my car on a Saturday afternoon. The service department took me right in and had me going the same day. Professional and friendly.
Pros: Service open 7 days a week
Cons: Off the beaten path
I recently bring my car for service, just for a basic wheel serivce, however, service rep told me my car need moreparts to be replaced due to some problem. Actually, my car never have the problem in that area. So
I refuse the replacement. But once I bring you car back home, my battery become dead. It is kind of strange to me since I never have a battery issue before. So please be a little bit careful when you bring your car to them for service, may will create more problem for your car.
Pros: close to my home
Cons: your car may have more problem after the service.
I took my car there to have one thing fixed, and came back with more problems. I had to go in on 6 different days to get one thing fixed because either they didn't have the parts, or they didn't fix the problem, or I had more problems. They still charged the full price and did not fix the problems. When I complained, the manager said they could fix my car if I brought it in again, so I did, but they could not fix it. I requested a refund and they refused. I do not wish this experience on anyone.
Pros: Can't speak for the car sales
Cons: Service Department is unfriendly and incompetent
Bought an 07 Honda at a pretty good price recently but almost immediately after pickup, noticed a popping noise coming from the front (left and right). Brought the car in 3 times already (a TSB exists that describes the problem and fix) to get the noise fixed. First time they sent me home cause we couldn't duplicate the sound (the tech drove agressively fast, which doesn't seem to trigger the noise). Second time a more knowledgable tech was able to duplicate the sound but the service department only fixed one side (telling us that it might fix sound on the other side.) Sound from the unfixed side persisted. Third time I brought it in, they couldn't replicate the sound and said that they would hold onto the car for a week or more, test drive every day, but no guaranties of fixing. I realize that the problem is intermittant and hard to duplicate but I'm frustrated that they won't help replace the part specifed in the TSB. 1) I've seen them 3 times already, 2) they've already verified and fixed one side, 3) a TSB exists that describes the problem and the fix. Going over again a 4th time to try to get my car fixed. Let's cross our fingers!
Pros: decent pricing
Cons: hard to get intermittant problem w/ new vehicle fixed, even w/ TSB issued
Salespeople were ok, as far as car salespeople go.
They did play a little bit of the "games" when it came to pricing, but what dealer doesnt?
