Julie's a total delight and an excellent caretaker of her little charges. She only takes small dogs, which means all the little guests at the Pooch Pad are canine peers and that makes for a non-threatening atmosphere. They have the run of her darling little house and there's a fenced yard for romping and exploring. Our previous little dog, a Pap & King Charles mix who had been abused and was our first rescue, was Julie's first client. Bingo was pretty finicky with a very short list of "approved" humanoids, of which Julie ranked tops. Our current Pap, also a rescue, is more easygoing, but he loves Julie just as much. Lui, our current dog, has a few health issues and needs a bit of attention, which Julie conscientiously sees to. When we boarded Lui with her last weekend, he developed an eye problem. It turned out to be nothing, but Julie couldn't have known that, so she got in touch with us immediately & together we resolved the problem. Happy as Lui was to see my husband & me when we returned, it was clear by his demeanor that he would have been just as happy to stay with Julie a little longer. Julie's been caring for little dogs for almost two decades, this after her own little terrier Mighty Dog passed. She opened her business because she wanted to provide the kind of compassionate care and loving attention that she'd wished had been available back then for Mighty when the poor little thing was ailing. Loving care for little dogs is her byword and her mission and in this regard she has more than fulfilled her original intention. We can't say enough good things about Julie. Try her. You're gonna love her!

I can unconditionally recommend Julies Pooch Pad if you have a small dog. She only takes small dogs which is a boon for us because Thomas, our Cavalier King Charles, is not comfortable around large dogs. Julie provides a home away from home for well-loved dogs, and she loves them well. Communication has never been a problem. We have been taking our Cavalier to Julie for many years, and are grateful to her for her wonderful service. Thomas is a sensitive dog, "wimp" my children say, so the tender loving care and socialization with other small dogs that he gets at Julie's is a great boon.

I have been using Julie's Pooch Pad for over 15 years -- and have nothing but high regard for her and her service. I trust her implicitly -- with my two dogs I have brought there. She is organized -- remembering which medicines my dog is on, which food and when they eat, tending to his special needs when he is sick -- when I am out-of-town on business. I love Julie's Pooch Pad -- and would recommend her to anyone looking for care above and beyond for their pet.

Message from Julie's Pooch Pad

I have extensive experience and knowledge of animal care, dog communication, breed specific needs, pack behavior and am certified in canine first aid, CPR and giving injections. Because I only care for a small number of dogs, I am able to offer extremely personalized attention and cater to special needs of the dogs I care for. I stay current on the pet care industry through extensive reading, professional development classes and networking with my contacts in the pet care industry.

I have been fortunate to enjoy an excellent reputation in the community, and have been chosen to be listed in Who's Who in Women Owned Businesses, was rated as a "Preferred Provider" by Angie's List and was awarded the 2013 Vienna Awards for best Pet Boarding service. I am a mature owner/operator who is trustworthy, reliable and takes my responsibilites very seriously. If you want a loving, safe place to board your dog, the Pooch Pad is the place to go.

More about Julie's Pooch Pad

The idea for the Pooch Pad came from Julie’s personal experience trying to find care for her own small dog. She encountered the same issues all dog owners face: no available options where a small, sensitive dog could relax and enjoy companionship in a stress-free environment. None of the available options met this need. At a kennel, they are stuck in a cage, at a cage-less facility, they are amongst a high volume of barking dogs, and having pet sitters come to your house means your dog is alone most of the time. The ideal situation is to have a friend or neighbor care for your dog, however, relying on others creates a new set of problems. They could cancel last minute, you feel indebted, they are gone all day at work, etc. There was clearly a need in the pet care industry where small dogs could be cage-free, among a small group of same size dogs and pampered / supervised 24/7 by a pet professional in a home environment. Thus, Julie’s Pooch Pad was born.
