im suprised at the bad review because i've never had a bad meal at maru. its not the best sushi on earth but still i eat here at least 2 or 3 times a month, it's a great lunch spot and very reasonably priced. service is adequate, sometimes you have to wait for a table since it's pretty small but not usually for more than 10 minutes. all in all its a good neighborhood spot if you want affordable sushi

Wow! This was one of the worst sushi experiences I've had. I seriously wonderred if the sushi I ate was going to make me sick (Luckily it didn't). I ordered delivery the other night and the only redeeming feature of Maru Maru was that the delivery took less than 30 minutes. I ordered the Deluxe Sushi (Oxymoron for this place) which comprises 10 pieces of sushi and a tuna roll. The rice barely clung together. The fish was almost lukewarm and the cuts of fish themselves were badly cut with large chunks of hard salmon that were not chewable. The Tuna roll pieces were also luke warm and tasted like they had been left out for most of the day, same for the sushi fish pieces. The free miso soup was the only thing that was okay but that's not enough of a reason to spend your cash on a dinner.
I will not eat there again and I do not recommend this place. It set a new low and tasteless standard for Sushi in New York.- Yuck!!

Pros: Free Miso Soup (?)

Cons: Bad Sushi, really bad.

If you live in the area and you like sushi, Maru Maru's the place. We've tried everything in a five block radius and Maru Maru tops the list. They seem to make most of their money through deliveries - which are always prompt and correct, but it's a good place to stop by as well. The atmosphere is more authentic Japanese sushi place than some of the other places around the city, but that's a good thing on a week night. They've always got fresh fish and are always remarkably quick to serve it up. They've also got a wide array of other staples - get the donburi. Enjoy.
