The Melting Pot is an excellent choice for a restaurant, though only if one has the patience and time to sit down for a few hours. The meal is made right in front your, and when it comes down to it you are the one truly making it. This is a great place to go for an evening out with friends or family. The atmosphere is comfortable, quite, and relaxing. Each course has a variety of selections and flavors to choose from, though not every individual in the group will get to pick their own since groups share.
A specific dish to note would be an entre called The French Quarter. This dish includes filet mignon, chicken breast, and shrimp; they are seasoned with Cajun spices. The meat is served to you raw, because you will be the one doing the cooking. All entres also arrive with fresh vegetables. To cook your items you choose a cooking style, which is a type of broth that will go into the fondue bowl at your table. The style, which will be discussed, is the Mojo Style. This Caribbean-seasoned bouillon with garlic and citrus alone smelt delectable. This combination was spicy, so if one does not care for spicy food they should consider a different meat selection that is not seasoned this way. Though if one does enjoy something spicy and flavorful this would be the perfect combination. The meat was fresh and the spices from both the seasoning and the Mojo broth came together and created a delicious and unique taste. The Melting Pot is also reasonable towards special orders. If one does not like a specific combination of meats in a dish they can substitute it out for a different one. An array of dipping sauces are also given with the entre to add yet even more flavor and the sever will explain what each one is. The server also instructs you on how to cook your food correctly. They are knowledgeable about the menu, kind, and well mannered.
The Melting Pot serves appetizing cheese fondues, entres, and chocolate fondues. Before going it should be noted that for a full meal it will take a few hours, party size also affects this. This is a formal dinner setting and young children should not be brought along. The hot stovetop on the table and the time it takes are ample reasons enough. Reservations should be made no matter the party size. The prices are expensive, but the food is high quality, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is something to note about the price. The Melting Pot is a fabulous restaurant and if one is looking for a unique dining experience this is the place to go.

Upon entering I noticed that the restaurant had a romantic and elegant feel to it. The hostess seemed glad to greet us and happily led us to our table. The server greeted us by name and made a few suggestions as far as beverages. He was very knowledgeable which was extremely helpful when choosing what we wanted to eat. (Their menu was a bit complicated.) We decided to go for ??The Big Night Out? which was a four course dinner for two that included a cheese fondue appetizer, salad, the main course with your selection of meats and cooking sauce, as well as dessert.

The first course was the appetizer. It included a blend of three cheeses; goat, parmesan, and fontina all blended with a white wine garlic sauce. This was accompanied by a plate full of various types of bread, vegetables, and granny smith apples all cut into bite size pieces. At first I thought that the apples were a funny mixture among the breads, except when I dipped it in the cheese sauce. The sweetness from the apple and the garlic tartness of the cheeses were absolutely delicious together!

The second course was the salad. It was a mixture of baby greens with fresh cut roma tomatoes and slices of fresh mozzarella, all topped with an Italian balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The greens were crisp and light; the romas were perfectly ripe and were an excellent complement to the mozzarella. All these ingredients combined with the balsamic dressing made for a perfect sweet and sour combination.

The main course followed consisting of three types of marinated meats. They were chicken, filet mignon, and lobster tail. These were also cut into bite size portions and were raw. The vegetables came on another plate and included baby carrots, fingerling potatoes, and bite size asparagus, these were also raw. The cooking sauce was Caribbean bullion and had hint of garlic in it. Next we actually cooked the meat and vegetables in the sauce. There were also various dipping sauces for each of the meat portions. Such as cocktail sauce for the lobster, honey mustard for the chicken, and horseradish sauce for the filet mignon. The filet mignon was so tender it practically melted in your mouth, the cooking sauce made the chicken and lobster very moist as well. The rich warm flavors of the vegetables paired with a glass of Napa Valley Merlot brought the whole meal together nicely. It was so much fun cooking it as well!

The final course was dessert. We chose a chocolate fondue. It came with an assortment of desserts that included: bite size portions of pound cake, cheese cake, brownies, marshmallows, rice krispies treats, strawberries, and bananas. The chocolate was smooth and creamy. The pound cake, cheesecake, and brownies were baked to optimum moistness. The strawberries and bananas were perfectly ripened. Dipped in the chocolate... Need I say more? I think it was THE best dessert I??ve ever had!

The MeltingPot in Scottsdale Arizona is the best restaurant I have ever had the pleasure to dine in. The food amazing, the concept fun and creative, and the service is unbelievable. When we arrived in the restaurant we were nicely greeted by the host stand. The hostess Blair greeted us with a smile and congratulated me on my Promotion. WOW! How did she know about it? On the way to the table the host Adam kept a wonderful funny conversation with us. We even had a congratualtions card along with a picture frame and balloons waiting on the table for us. Once at the table he said our server would be Josh and he would be right over to take care of us. Once again being congratulated on my promotion he departed the table. Moments later Josh approached the table and took us through the fondue experience. Through out this experience multiple staff members stopped by and congratulated me on my promotion. The managers Jason, Harrison, and Candice were all especially nice-all holding wonderful conversations with us. And Harrison even used his extensive wine knowledge to turn us onto a wonderful bottle of wine. With our meal coming to a close and us paying our check, we were wished a wonderful evening by all staff we passed on the way out and even was once more congratulated by Blair about my promotion. I have never had a better restaurant experience and I highly reccomend this restaurant for anyone who is celebrating a special occasion or just wants a Perfect Night Out!!!

I am taking my husband, as a surprise, to the Scottsdale, AZ location to celebrate Valentine's Day. This is our first time going to Scottsdale since they relocated. They are, by far, the most wonderful and romantic atmosphere in dining that we've had, to date. The food is awesome and the service is beyond impeccable. The people that work there have always been friendly and cheerful. I recommend it to others on a frequent basis. Two thumbs up!! We love you!!

Lousy service!!!!!! Ruined anniversary dinner. Be careful of possible marketing agency writers that may be giving this 4 and 5 stars and the usual BS about how great it is (had family in the biz. know how it works). Don't waste your time. "The food is not worth it" we heard as we were leaving, furious, from other patrons. (Ended up going to Roy's at Scottsdale and Indian bend- was wonderful, as usual.) It started with the all to easy, "we're running behind, it'll be just a few minutes" from the wait staff when we arrived a few minutes before our reservation. "Great", we thought, we'll get a drink, laugh for a few minutes - 60 minutes later (now 9:30 p.m.) the same 5-7 couples, all with reservations at 8:30-8:45 still standing, nowhere to sit, hearing the barely pubescent looking wait staff softly giggle out a "sorry." It lookes as though they were just standing there trying to think of themselves in people magazine. (Now really, they seemed to be a curious mix of Jethro Bodine crossed with Margaret Drysdale - remember the Clampetts) At one point my spouse was told that our table was being wiped off right now and that we would be sitting momentarily. 10-15 minutes later, I walk to the hostess, with the manager standing next to her, and asked how long it takes to wipe off a table? The manager laughed, wilted back away from the hostess, leaving her to respond. Does anyone in management there know how to train a staff to be courteous or how turn tables? (How did Seinfeld put it with the car agencies (paraphrase), "You know how to make a reservation, you just don't know how to keep a reservation.") Now, get this, as we were being seated, we saw a larger table that had had no one sitting at it the whole time we were standing there. We asked, "Has this table been open the entire time we've been here?" The muddled boy seating us said, "Oh, that's for larger parties, there's only two of you." That was it. Nothing is worth that aggravation.

I absolutely love this place. I have brought several people with me to experience the food they offer and turned many people into fondue lovers as well. Any special occassion from birthdays to anniversaries to getting the new job I am there to celebrate, but make your reservations! The staff is wonderful and the food is amazing! Make sure you try the amaretto meltdown for dessert, do yourself a favor!

I had heard awesome things about this place, but was very disappointed. The food, what little of it there was, was ok. The service was awful. Do these people have to pass a snob test to work here or what? Granted, we are just an average couple, but were looking for at least some courtesy, and got none. The few who did speak to us were very snobby and rude, which totally ruined our evening. Price is way to much to be treated like that.

The good - great place to really enjoy your food and company since you don't just chow and go. Atmosphere is OK, and the hostess station was very friendly. The bad - service at the bar was snobby, we had a chipped wine glass and all he could say was "oh," sigh heavily and give us a new wine glass. The food is OK, but expensive and the bottomless veggies, aren't - unless you can get the attention of your server who doesn't seem to come around after the initial food is put on your table - didn't check back once. Summary - good for cheese and drinks. Wouldn't do the whole dinner next time.

I've been to the place once and don't plan on going back. The food was over priced for it's quality. The meat was dry and sauces were sort of bland. Cheese dip was ok and I had better desserts. Although they were friendly the service slow.

Ever had one of those dinners where no one really has anything to say so you sit a make small talk until you go out of your mind? This is the type of place that makes it a lot less painful. It's such a unique experience that everyone has something to talk about so it's a great place for a first date or a night out with in-laws in my opinion. Anyone who you don't entirely feel comfortable with.

This place is awesome! I go here at least twice a month during special occasions; birthdays, new moms, anniversaries... They always remember to ask if we are celebrating which gives me the chance to buy a keepsake for my guest. Last birthday I bought my friend one of their cute pewter frames with our picture. The cheese was soooo filling we barely had room for dessert! everything was 'picture' perfect! Thank you Melting Pot!

I reserved the special curtained table for an anniversary after hearing rave reviews, but it absolutely ruined our evening. The service was slow and for the price you get a very tiny amount of mediocre food. The worst part was having to hear people coming in and out of the bathrooms, staff and guests constantly pulling back the curtain, loud noises from the kitchen, and having to hear the obscene conversations coming from the staff while standing outside our table. After making complaints all we got was a coupon for a free dessert - that was only valid if we came back in and bought another dinner. I will never return to this restaurant and certainly don't suggest it for anyone seeking a romantic dinner.

Lots of tables for two with couples sharing a romantic dinner together, delicious desserts, rated at only two dollar signs, but a bit pricier, I think. If you want to melt someone's heart this is the place to go, even if it is a big corporate franchise now. Reservations are usually required, so this might not be for the more spontaneous folks out there.

My boyfriend and I went to the Melting Pot for the first time last week and I am in love. We had the most amazing dining experience. Every aspect of our meal was well executed, and the dessert was AMAZING. We did have to call ahead for a reservation even on a Tuesday. As a wine lover we found the wine list to be very extensive and included a few special find selections. We are looking forward to a return visit hen we are going to attend one of the monthly wine dinners. Go and enjoy!

My husband and I have visited The Melting Pot several times in several states, and have always loved our experience. Unfortunately, the Hayden Road location has ruined our love for this restaurant. I have never in my life received such bad service and the food was a total dissapointment. Compared to past Melting Pot visits, the Scottsdale location has the least amount of food portions. We paid over $80 for a couples dinner and received about $30 worth of food. We waited for 45 minutes between our salad and entree. To top things off, the management was notified of how badly things were for us, and although they were willing to comp our meal--they sent us home with their apologies and a dessert that was FROZEN!! Our 1st wedding anniversary was ruined--thanks to the Melting Pot.

For the ultimate romantic dining experience this is the place to go. The food is excelent the service supreme and the ambiance is incredible. You will not regret the money spent. Be prepared to spend the time to enjoy it all and make a reservation. If you are thinking of taking kids with you make sure that they are older than 9 or 10.

I dont agree that the Melting Pot is all that it is cracked up to be. There is nothing romantic about $100 boiled meat! To top it off they close you up in a melting pot of your own, to sweat while you eat, not my idea of romantic.

Took some old friends from out of town here and they absolutely loved every bit of the "experience." At The Melting Pot they bring the food out to you and you cook it (fondue-style) in your cooking style of choice. The four-course meals are great in the amount and quality of food you are given. We started with a cheese fondue and we dipped breads, apples, and vegetables in- super start to the evening! Then I had a California salad with delicious raspberry vinaigrette dressing. On to the main course! We had the colossal, the center cut filet mignon, jumbo prawns, and lobster tail were VERY popular around the table. Finally, we had the "Turtle" for dessert, which was a fondue of chocolate and caramel to dip strawberries, cheesecake and marshmallows into. The service was excellent as well, as the waiter expertly guided us through all of courses. Highly recommended!

Pros: ROMANTIC, Wine List, Service

Cons: Parking

The Melting Pot is not a place to go for good food. The flavor is below average and the portions are small compared with the price. The two highlights of the visit would be the atmosphere and the staff. I will not make a second visit.

Cons: Price, Quality, Flavor

Take your time and enjoy! For dinner, use the Coq Au Vin style cooking method, it is wonderful. The real flavor of the food comes out. Any of the deserts are wonderful. Spend the three hours with a loved one and you will not regret this meal.

When I heard that this restaurant took two or three hours to eat I was slightly uncertian about enjoying myself. Let me tell you we had the time of our lives. Service was A+ and the food excellent. All seven of us agree this a place to add to your list of places to dine.

Ok, I will admit that I had a good time, but that does not necessarily mean that I want to repeat it. THe food is good, expensive though and I am not sure if it is that worth it. The waitstaff is ok, definitely not what it should be for paying $100+ on a meal that you cook yourself. I have a guy friend that this is his first date restaurant. Impressive, but not somewhere that you must go back to.

Had a great time enjoying food that was a little different. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Yes, a little overpriced but great fun!

I went here after noticing them in the wine spectator. I have always been interested in tasting new foods and boy am I glad that I did. We had and excellent experience. The food was fresh and ample portions were served including a delicious choloate fondue to finish the meal. As a wine "geek" I was very impressed with the wine list, with about 200 selections. I recommend the coq au vin style of cooking which they make table side and consists of a light broth, herbs, spices and the most important part burgundy red wine. It added a unique flavor to the food. Enjoy ourself!

I went here for my birthday. The restaurant was very quiet, private and romantic. The prices were high but the food was excellent. The wine list was extensive and the dessert was the best part. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly.

We had a large group of people for my birthday and we had a blast. The group area was excellent for the twenty two of us. The staff of the Melting Pot is like a well oiled machine, they took extra good care of us. All of my friends loved it too. I have also been to the Scottsdale location and it was just as good.

This place is excellent, I can not tell you how much fun I have here. The food is always fresh and service is A+. It does take some time so do not plan on a quick meal. Melted chocolate is soooo good! They also have a very nice wine selection. I recommend calling for reservations as it can get busy. Oh yeah and ask for a curtain booth if you are two, now that is romantic.

Well, if you like Fondue, THIS IS THE PLACE!! Surley it's 'over priced', but that's the way Fondue is! At least, proper Fondue! Exquisit food! An experience that has to be explored by everyone! Mind you, it is expensive!!!

I took my wife to the Melting Pot for our 25th Anniversary, hoping that everything I had heard about the restaurant's romantic atmosphere was true, and I was not disappointed! My wife and I loved everything about the meal, she even commented to me that this was the best anniversary dinner we had ever enjoyed- the food was delicious and came in wonderful portions- we chose the four-course meal and each course was more delicious than the last! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a romantic evening.

The food was overpriced for the small amount of food that was served. It cost almost $70 for two people for food alone and we ordered the least expensive options on the menu.
The food was tasty, but the portions were small.

Excellent place to take friends/spouse/out of town guests. I was searching for a special restaurant to wow my in-laws at when I happened to notice The Melting Pot . What a lucky sighting! Everyone was amazed by the huge portions of delicious food and great atmosphere. We had all been accustomed to the "standard" mature dining places, but this was a great change of pace! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to take guests in town and really impress them. The Colossal Fondue, with its lobster, filet mignon, teriyaki sirloin and much more is highly recommended. Everyone was full and very satisfied. We'll be back again! Thanks to our waiter too, he was wonderful!

This used to be a very nice place to dine. They have forgotten about customer service and quality food. The last time I ate there will most likely be my last as they have failed now a few times in providing the level of service you would expect from a place like this. I now feel rushed when I go there, and left hanging quite often. The food is not served in a timely manor and when you do get your food you are rushed through it. When the waiter did actually show up he never returned with my requests. The staff and management could use some customer service training.

I could have spent my $120+ at any other restaurant in town and got better food and especially service. My wife took me there for my birthday, she even order the birthday bouquet which was kinda of cheesy (no pun). The wait was longer than anticipated for our table even though we had reservations (20 mins). However the clincher was the 45 min wait between dinner and dessert. After expressing my displeasure, the waitress said that her other customers had to wait longer than us. I complained to the manager, but instead of making the evening "whole", she waived $30 off the bill.... how cheap and insulting! Don't waste your time and money there are much better places in Phoenix.

I guess you'd classify me as a huge Melting Pot fan, since I've been to at least five of their locations around the country. All I can say is that dining there is something everyone should experience at least once. Make sure you're hungry when you go, especially if you go for the full meal for two option. You'll start out by picking a cheese fondue (I love the traditional), then a salad (the California), then an entree. Entrees usually include a variety of seafood, poultry, and other meats, but they also have a great vegetarian option. For the cooking style, go with the oil if you like batter-dipped foods. If you like it lighter, the coq au vin is the way to go! Top it off with one of their incredible fondue desserts, and you'll be hooked!

I loved the "lover's lane"! My husband were able have private time alone since they close the curtains for you. The seats we got were areound a small table and were like a couch. So it was very "cozy". The food was fun. I was shocked when i found out you had to cook it yourself, but it was very filling and the staff was really nice.

Cons: expensive, not good for kids

If you like fondue go for it, but it went out with my grandma. Good martini selection! Pricey and there's by far better places Phoenix / Scottsdale. Food isn't very good. I can boil food on my stove and stuff raw meat. My vote right down the street with better martini's, better atmosphere, same price in the end... Barcelona. You won't be dispointed.

The Melting Pot is a great place. I first time I was there for dinner, my husband and I were there for 3 hours. It is a great first date place. Romantic, charming. The wait staff is great. Always there to help out when you look perplexed about something. I love this place. Please add one to the west side of town........

The melting pot has absolutely delicious food and great presentation, the executive chef here works hard. It is a nice atmosphere where you and a loved one can talk and share a romantic evening yet at the same time dressing up is not a must here. Be careful though, just adding a bottle of wine and cause your bill to easily reach $200. Dessert is a must here, you are crazy not to order it! For extra romance request the table with the curtain

Going to the Melting Pot is like stepping into a romantic new world. The lights are so dark and dim and you are secluded to your own booth, some booths even have a curtain for extra privacy. Romantic extras are even available, such as having beautiful freshly cut roses in a vase waiting for your arrival (my favorite).
