.

Soooooo, I'm a clean person. I've donated plasma at Red Cross for years without a hitch. I decided, why not get paid for the two hours I'm there for my donation? Sounds great, right? Wrong. I went in, waited for almost 4 hours and was in and out of their "interviewing" room at least 5 times. When it was time for the final "interview", they began asking me very personal questions about previous piercings and tattoos. Not even thinking to lie, I told them about some piercings I had when I was 18. They have not been in for over 10 years, however, they deemed that my decision to pierce my body in certain locations (a decision that was MINE to make, and also MINE to take out) made me a less than desirable donor. They told me that there are other companies that do not have the same rules and that I shouldn't have any problem donating there. What they didn't tell me, is that they blacklisted me from their system with no explanation, which makes me ineligible to donate with ANY company, even the Red Cross. All due to their dislike for piercings in other locations than your ears. BTW, they also blacklisted my boyfriend for having a 5 year old tattoo that covers one of the veins on his arms. Save your time, gas and frustration. The potential of getting paid $50 to go through this experience (or even if I wasn't blacklisted and was able to donate) was sooooo not worth it. Go to a reputable source and really help save lives at Red Cross. They won't discriminate against you based on your personal adornment choices.
