Been meaning to try this place for sometime. We had come to try something different so we chose the veal ribs for appetizer. It was some of the best barbecue we have ever had. We had never even heard of veal ribs before and it said they had pomegranate on them. All I can say is wow, fine dining barbecue!. Those alone made it worth the visit. The trout and lamb was delicious and cooked perfectly too.

Gorji taught me how to make the most succulent pork chop I have ever eaten. In one of his cooking classes he showed us how to put big thick pork chops in the microwave for a few seconds after grilling to make sure that the center is not

Some of the food is actually quite good BUT ever since he mentioned(actually bragged) that he microwaves his meat, I've been rather leery. A visit to my physician confirmed my concerns. Microwaving kills the nourishment in our foods. It's a disservice that he does this, especially at these prices. Also, I really don't like his condescending tone. I've seen it come across worse with other diners than he's done to me. It is his restaurant, so, he can do as he wishes. I just don't believe that I'll be going back.

If you do go, have the hummus and tzatziki. They are among the best I've had. Also, they are severed cold so you don't have to worry about the microwave.

Just discovered this place. The steak was great, but the duck appetizer was an unusual and delicious surprise. I understand they always have new specials to try. Great chef, great service. Already looking forward to my next meal there.

Canary is one of our favorite little restaurants. We love to sit outside in the nice weather, although the atmostphere inside is warm and intimate. The wait staff is very attentive and the owner/chef often greets the patrons. We especially like their "Mediterranean Mezze " which is a combination of tzatziki, tabbouleh, hummus, and the best dolmades I've ever had. The "Beef Anar" , tenderloin tips in a pomegranate sauce, is unique and wonderful. Their pomodoro sauce is also great, as is their artichoke salad. Canary Cafe faces Monfort on the west side of the street. It's definitely worth finding!

This place is so different than places I have eaten in Dallas. The Owner/Chef is commited to being in his restaurant when the doors are unlocked. Chef Gorji meets every patron and gives you the feel of a great Manhattan restaurant. The food was exceptional. I ate a lamb and quail special that was the absolute best I have had to date. My wife had a tenderloin that should make III Forks feel ashamed to be called a steak house. The price was great, the servers were great, and Chef Gorji's dedication to his Canary Cafe is overwhelmingly apparent. It is hard to find a chef that lives for his restaurant, especially since all the well known ones put a reataurant in every city in the country and have no way of showing the quality that made them great. This was an opportunity to dine with a great chef in his own place. I don't normally complain or compliment, but I can't stop talking about this experience. I will be returning. MAKE RESERVATIONS.

Pros: Chef Gorji, service, food, attitude, attention to detail

Cons: Pro - make reservations, only a certain # seated nightly.

The food is just terrific. They always have some new wonderful special on the weekends. Last week we had a fig salad that was delightful. The lamb is exceptional with the tzatziki and the best humus I've had. They also have some of the best steak around. It's my new place to take clients. It's small, we can talk and they love the atmosphere.

We just discovered this charmer a few nights ago. It was a friend's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. It is small and personable with a unique selection of foods and wines. I had a wonderful trout dish and my husband was pleasantly surprised and pleased by the Veal Il ton on the menu. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Simply not impressed. I decided against my better judgement after reading some poor reviews on this place. Food was simply not quality. Lots of production here but no substance. Will not be returning.

I have passed this establishment many times so decided on a whim to visit the website, I read of the chefs accomplishments and decided to make a go at it. I gathered my wife and some close friends who were visiting one of whom is a very popular chef at a fine NY city establishment ( I only mention this to make one understands there is at least one refined palette at the table) We were greeted with smiles and good evenings our water was refilled at least every 5 minutes, the wine was wonderful, our waitress was knowledgeable... well thats the nice part...
First thing first... I ordered a steak in which was so completely over seasoned it was horrid (this guy actually won the steak cook off... give me a break) the potatoes were practically inedible with enough garlic to choke a Vampire... the others at my table agreed over seasoned, over priced... also Walter(our chef friend) would like to note..You can put a big mac on a square plate add some foofoo garnish and charge 18.00 for it but that doesn't mean it still isn't junk... So there it is.. I will Never eat here again and was embarrassed to have brought friends here,,, Should have realized I can't trust a restaurant located in a strip mall next to a nail place (WHAT WAS I THINKING!) Regardless I don't recommend it... oh and I would also like to note, all you here is the chef in the back yelling at the staff...who does this guy think he is Chef Ramsey?

I most strongly contradict the venomous one-star reviews below. Those people have very sensitive taste buds and should stay with their shepherd's pie. Many good-natured people love bold flavors and exotic seasonings, and Chef Gorji at the Canary Cafe cooks for us. He also keeps a selection of lovely boutique wines for us. I try to eat there at least once a month and often run into people I've met there before. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable, the ambience is warm and cozy, and the chef cooks every delectable dish personally. His tabouleh is the best I ever ate. The beef anar is probably my favorite dish, followed closely by the lamb and the catfish. The Canary Cafe rules!

Went there Friday night. Have seen the place in business for years and this was my first trip. The staff was very accommodating and tried to offer a new, more cozy table when it became available but it was not necessary. Had the Red Mud Chard(Australia) which was quite good at $36. The specials offered were a bit expensive so we stayed on the menu. One diner loved the stuffed chicken breast. The trout eater was also happy with her choice. Both who had them really liked the vegetables, particularly the zucchini preparation. I had the Seafood Putanesca and the other fellow had the Oceanos - both the same shellfish ingredients with different broths. It also was very good and the calamari in it were some of the best and tenderest I have ever had. I also had a glass of the house white which was tasty and ample for $8. The chef came out and asked how everything was and w gave him a positive - probably a B. All in all, a cozy place with good service, good food and a place I will see again.

The ambiance was nice and thats the only positive thing about this restaurant.

The five of us dining at this establishment had nothing nice to say about the service or food. The chef came over to ask us how everything was, but when confronted with negativity he stormed off like a child.

I ordered the Beef Anar which I nicknamed....."Fruity Pebbles." The steak tips where the same size as the pomegranate fruit in the dish and tasted just like them. Way too fruity and over seasoned - was more like dessert than an entree. The other diners in my party ordered the stuffed chicken and trout. The chicken was so salty the diner's cholesterol went up instantaneously and her palate will never be the same. The trout was flattened and over cooked, almost as if it was prepared on a George Foreman Grill.

Save your money and your taste buds and go to some of the other countless great establishments in Addison.

The walls are lined with "rave" reviews of the ribeye preperation, I wonder if they were produced on someone's home computer. My ribeye was poorly trimmed / grizzled (and $32). Lots of salt does not make a good steak!

Mediterranean? Last I knew (and I am from the east side of that sea), that consists of a substantially different menu.

I like garlic - but the garlic mashed potatoes well ... were more garlic than potatoes. Humus more garlic than chick peas and tahini.

Do yourself a favor go ... anywhere else than this overpriced over hyped Golden Corral with too much garlic and salt.

This was the worst dining experience I've ever had. It was very obvious that they were either short a server or short staffed. We were told the specials when we sat down and then were not visited again for 30 minutes. Our food - salad and soup took another 20 minutes. There was never a comment about how long we had to wait. . .no apology, no "thank you for waiting". . .nothing.

The marinara sauce served with the complimentary pita bread is the cold version of the tomato basil soup. While it isn't bad with the pita bread definitely wouldn't recommend for the soup.
