Excellent service and food!

I stay at the hotel that was excellent, front desk superb! The steak was perfect, the lobster was fresh, price was high but worth it. One of the best places in KC and love the atmosphere and decor of the place. Very much worth the money! Money well spent for a city lacking in the resturant business.
Pros: Steak was great!
Cons: NONE, perfect

Overrated

We still can't seem to find a great non-chain steak house in KC. A travesty, right? Well the in dependant Nielsen group met up and ate at Phillips Chop House the other night. And let me tell you, I don't think anyone was very impressed. First off, my whiskey sour was made with a pre-made mixer I could've bought in the grocery (unlike McCormick & Schmick, which was handmade). All the sides were great, including my scallops on the side. However, a medium-well filet of beef should be slightly pink in the middle, but what I received was Well Done, as well as everyone elses, except for the guy who ordered Medium (which looked Medium Rare). The flavor was much better than Plaza III, but Houston's has so far been the best steak in KC so far.

Juicy, savory steaks

We spent an indulgent weekend at the Phillips Hotel with dinner in the Chop House and still share that first experience with friends. The atmosphere brings to mind the warm and seductive polished wood of a private library. Ambience soft and subtle. The service is impeccable. Timely and with superb execution by every staff member. The filet mignon was ordered medium (for some that is a sin)and arrived exactly as I have always imagined. Vegetables were crisp and hot. Salads full of baby leafs and what tasted like home grown tomatoes. We thoroughly enjoyed a visit from the Chef who was quite humble when complmented. Definitely a five star experience.
Pros: valet parking through the hotel.
Cons: a bit pricey for some but oh so worth it.

Best Little Known Restaraunt in KC
by bkchristopher
This place is fabulous. The food is wonderful and consistently high quality. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic. In my humble opinion it is one of KC's best kept secrets and that is a shame. The food far surpasses several restaraunts that everyone in KC is buzzing about. Give it a shot. You won't regret it.
