Contemporary American food competes with great views and a splashy wine list at the Trump Chicago.

Sixteen, our signature restaurant located on the 16th floor, features a superbly crafted menu of eclectic cuisine and seasonal ingredients. With renowned Australian Chef Frank Brunacci at the helm, Sixteen promises an exceptional dining experience matched by equally exceptional views. 30-foot floor-to-ceiling windows frame spectacular vistas of Lake Michigan, the Chicago River and the Wrigley Clock Tower. Al fresco dining on the outdoor wrap terrace offers a closer look, showcasing Chicago's historic architectural landmarks and stunning skyline. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Editorial by

Aussie Chef Frank Brunacci applies international flair to contemporary American dishes such as a subtle crab salad swaddled in fragrant rockmelon and dressed with pineapple and cress and a vanilla cream-annoited foie terrine--the richness cut by vinegary fig and hearts of palm salad. A zebrawood-paneled elevator zips swank diners up to the 16th floor lobby, a space defined by a sliver of a bar and glassy duel wine cellars that flank the entrance. The back wall is a curved, leaning edifice of burled wood; a tiered chandelier, designed by Ivanka Trump herself, is laden with crystal lozenges. The glorious East-to-South view is one of the city's most stunning.

Key Points

  • Breathtaking Views of Chicago
  • Innovative & Eclectic Menu
  • Picturesque Outdoor Dining

The Inside Scoop

  1. The Extras - Breakfast and brunch/lunch are not to be ignored. The kitchen caters to executives with the time to enjoy luscious takes on classic preparations.
  2. Know Before You Go - The wine list is expensive---very expensive. It can take quite some digging to come up with something different---that is if wine other than pricey American and French reds is desired.

Great upscale view, nice treat if you have to charm someone. View is one of the best in town. Definitely worth going if you have $100 to spend. Chill there long:)

Ratings_icons Disgusting and Rude

After reading in several articles that the Terrace at Sixteen was having a soft opening on Monday June 22 (the Grand being on Thursday, June 25), I decided this would be a great start to the evening I planned for my boyfriends birthday. I called around noon on Monday to confirm that the terrace would be open and was told that it would open at 4 pm. Perfect.

We get there, see people all over but the hostess (who spends a lot of time on the phone - I go there at least once a week and she's always on the phone) tells us that the terrace isn't open. We see people out there sitting and drinking. Then she changes her story to say that it's open for friends and family only. Then she says she'll make a call and see what she can do. We wait and wait. A big, tall man finally comes up and sharply snaps that the terrace is not open, may not ever open and they have people at City Hall "right now" trying to secure a license so that they can open. Obviously, somebody was lying. The hostess looked very embarrassed and of course, got back on the phone.

Since we were also told that we could not sit in the lounge, we left but not before I used the restroom. I have seen gas station restrooms that looked cleaner than this one. There were 4 stalls, one door was closed and two stalls had unflushed contents in the toilets. I felt sick to my stomach. I took pictures with my phone (which I thought about then decided not to post here) and immediately left. I planned to show and tell the hostess what I had witnessed but - you guessed it, she was on the phone.

Bottom line, between the lies, the rudeness and the filth, I will never step foot in a Trump property ever again.

Pros: Nothing anymore

Cons: Dishonest, inattentive staff, absolutely filthy restrooms

Ratings_icons Bad, Bad, Bad!!!!! Mind this place

chefkoch

If I could give zero stars, I would do it. I know food and this is by far the worst and most expensive place that I have ever dined at. My wife and I had the 5 course tasting menu. Not one course was good, as you would expect at $100,- per person. And watch out for the wine prices. This place is a complete rip off. There are many other places in Chicago to get a great meal. This is not one of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Nice view, good service

Cons: Bad food, totally over priced
