First of all I would like to say, "I never write reviews" but the MGM Grand deserves this one. I visit Vegas about 4 times a year. And I have stayed just about everywhere out there. I chose the MGM this time because I wanted to see David Copperfield's show. The Show was Awesome, I highly recommend it. The hotel,... (Not so much). First I stayed in a sky loft with a 2 bedroom suit, for 2 nights. The purpose for my visit was a surprise Birthday party for my friend who lives in Vegas'. The plan was to surprise him at his home and then go back to my suite to party. I paid for the room a month in advance and told them I wanted one of the rooms with a pool table. They would not lock me in for the room a month out, so I said ok at that time. But I called at 8 am the day I was to arrive to try and confirm a room with a pool table again but was told I couldn't. I told them I was taking the last flight out of Dallas and that my limo from the airport wouldn't get me to the hotel till about midnight Vegas time. And again I was shot down. Needles to say I didn't get a room with a pool table. And I was insured that they would follow up the next day to see if I one became available. I Never heard from them again. Also upon arrival, I was asked to pay another $300 up front for incidentals. The room was over a thousand a night by the way. And when I got to my room later I was told I couldn't access the mini bar in my room, unless I came down and gave them my Credit card again. What was my $300 for incidentals' for?...Also, I paid for the room a month out with my card. Why did I need to come back downstairs for? They had my card number already? Next I got a players card before I started my play downstairs. A players card for those that don't know tracks how long you gamble, and for how much you wager, and If you wager a lot, win or loose you will be comped things like dinner, mini bar, hotel fees ect..... What a joke, why did I even bother... First let me say, I gambled $1,000.00 per roll on roulette, for 2 nights. I lost about 7 Grand in two days. on the last evening we ate at one of the Hotels dinning establishments, I used my players card to see What I would be comped for our dinner. I was told that there was only $12.00 dollars credit on my players' card! WOW! And when I went to check out I went to the concierge to see what my players' card would get me comped, I was told I had to go to the front desk at checkout. What a JOKE!!! The lady acted like she was on the phone with someone for over 20 min. and she finally said she was going to comp me a lousy $146 dollars. Well we had a breakfast for 4 in the room Saturday which was ok, so long as you don't care if they bring you your order missing Items that you ordered, and are billed for them anyways. The bill for our breakfast was $210 dollars, which was nothing fancy I might add. So they still owed me $90.00 from my $300.00 for incidentals. So she only comped me a 1 day hotel fee of $56.00 dollars... I couldn't believe they wouldn't even comp me a lousy $210 dollar (room service) breakfast. I stayed at the Wynn 2 months ago for new years, and based on my play, my players card got my hotel room comped, my entire mini bar charges, and my show tickets. And I won over 5 grand in their casino. Lastly I would like to talk about the ambiance of the hotel and casino. There is no one between the streets of Veags and your room. Anyone can just stroll in take an elevator up to your room knock on your door and rob you if you answer. I have never stayed anywhere that they didn't have someone at the guest elevators to check for room keys. Also the crowd that the MGM attracts, is the worst! I have never seen so many skanky hookers walking the floors, flashing people with super short skirts to show you that they had no panties on! And This was in the Casino! They have lots of cameras and security so they cant say they don't see them. But the hotel and casino staff didn't ask them to leave. By the way, all of them were super, super ugly, and I'm absolutely sure one was a guy in drag who flashed me his junk while I was playing roulette with my wife. I almost vomited! I would like to also add that I brought my oldest daughter with us, and her fianc, (their 1st trip to Vegas). And they were disgusted! Bottom line is, if you want to be treated like dirt, and you have no morals, and like ugly prostitutes and cross dressers. And you want to spend a lot of cash for a room that you are treated like you are staying at a $20 dollar a night hotel, the MGM is the Place for you. If you want to see David Copperfield, get tickets, and a limo to take you to the show, and then back to another Hotel and Casino with class. Patrick

I really have no problems with MGM except that it is SO expansive. I totally get the Vegas thing and how each hotel/casino is supposed to be its own city, but MGM may as well have its own zip code. It is so far away from the rest of the strip and even more so depending on where you are staying in the hotel. I have stayed in the towers and the hotel part, both times sharing a room with my friends. The rooms are nice and spacious and the beds are comfortable. It's really just the location that gets me every time we stay there. Mostly because we never end up going out at the MGM clubs which makes a whole other to do. Their beach club pool party looked pretty fun though! Thank goodness for the cabs, right?

I love this hotel. Right when you walk into the lobby, you're swept with the feeling for grandeur and romance. There's gold everywhere (I think i'm just particular to gold), and the majestic lion right in the middle is a nice touch. Caesar's is cool too, but I like that this is a more original lobby and idea, and not based off something else. The rooms are a bit small, but since the renovation, everything looks much nicer and is more comfortable, even though it IS a bit dim in there. The location is also prime, right next to all the shops

I miss the "OZ" theme from back in the day and the giant lion on the outside! This hotel is a great place to stay, rooms are clean and the view is good! The pools are fun and entertaining.

They have one of the world's biggest casino, biggest hotel, and used to have one of the biggest theme parks. I used to love going here for the theme park that had a lot of fun things to do. They shut it down though. Other than that, it was remodeled several years back so that you could no longer walk through the lion's mouth (catering to the Chinese who were superstitious).

I love oysters but am afraid to order them in most places because they have to be super fresh. There is only one place I trust in San Diego (Oceanaire)- ( I usually stick to places like Seattle & New York that have plenty of options)

But thank goodness for SeaBlue where the oysters are flown in daily and are DELICIOUS.

The service is good too !

The food is so tasty that you don't want to stop eating. Everytime you take abite you want more and don't want it to end. I like going on week days less crowed unless your into that sort of thing. The prices are high but they are worth it .MGM you got this one right again...

There are a lot of mouthwatering choices. Shared tapas style appetizers and oysters, then shared a salad. We also had drinks from the bar. The atmosphere was nice, and we would eat here again.

There is a spa hidden away in the MGM Grand Hotel, the Christophe Salon,\nand I must share with you their hidden gem, Paul. As a colorist, Paul exudes passion and integrity in his craft. His attention to detail and sincere approach left me feeling absolutely beautiful when I walked out of the salon doors. If you visit our wonderful Las Vegas, you must make a stop at the Christophe and make sure to ask for Paul.

I recently stayed at the MGM Grand for a weekend, and I loved the bedding. It was to die for. I recently found the company, Downlite, that manufactures the bedding for MGM Grand, and I plan on purchasing some for my own personal bedding. I would def. check it out their website!!\n

Great experience at the MGM, started a little slow with 1/2 hour wait to check in but the room was great. A little far from everything but really cute and clean.\nGreat choices of restaurants, great people. Only thing is that it is not central on the strip.

I had visited MGM grand casino on 09/07/2011 evening and was enjoying in one of the roulette table. Before being to this one, we did visit other tables there and had been to the poker machine as well. However while playing on the roulette table we realized that our camera is not with us. As photography is not allowed in casino, so Ivery well remember that just before entering the casino there, we had taken one photo in the shopping area of MGM Grand, and then had placed it in its case.\r\n\r\nAfter the loss, we went to Lost and Found Desk to enquire if they have received our camera, but they hadn't received it by that time.\r\nWe had the flight back to Chicago on same night, so after coming back, we called the Lost and Found Desk after 10-12 days to inquire about our camera, with a hope that during regular cleaning process, it may get recoevered somewhere from the casino hall.\r\n\r\nWhen I called the Lost and Found helpdesk on 09/19/2011 at 11:00 a.m., a male attendant picked up the call. \r\nI described my camera and he looked into his database for 10 mins by putting me on hold and then said he didn't find it.\r\nThis is fair enough for him to say this as per the results he got ....however after that he was not letting me speak/complete not even a single sentence of mine.\r\n\r\n1) I was trying to interpret that I did say that camera was in a black case, but since the case was loose, so camera might have come out of it after falling on the ground. Before letting me complete he shouted at me saying....""madam I don't have your camera"".\r\n2) I then politely asked if you do have any other Sony camera at your Lost and Found Section, then it may happen that it is listed in your register with very less information, so it may not match with the details that I mentioned. Again without letting me complete, he shouted at me twice so harshly in such a way that it made me cry. I think it was literally very rude.\r\n3) Again controlling my tears, I requested him not to be upset and co-operate in finding that camera (if present there), he re-iterated the same thing in same shouting tone saying ""madam I don't have your camera""....""madam I don't have your camera"". And then he cut the call by banging the receiver.\r\n\r\nAfter the call, I was literally in shocked state and was crying for some time.\r\n\r\nI was wondering what made him shout like this. I recalled what all things I told him. And I can honestly say that none of the things I said which would offend him to behave like this. \r\nGenerally and rather always I have found people attending at service desk as very courteous and polite.\r\n\r\nI guess he has this habit of his own while responding to the people. It would be good if MGM grand hotel could monitor the way staff member at service disk like this respond to the customers. Because of a person like this particular male attandant having this type of rude and harsh behavior, it would be very bad for the name and fame of the hotel.

My family and I decided to eat at the Flamingo for Lunch at the popular buffet. It was such a disappointment. The scrambled eggs were watery, Pastries were old. The meat at the taco bar was old. This is a bad choice for food. I would have enjoyed Denny's for the money that was spent.\nI hope you decide to spend your money somewhere else.

This was my first time traveling to Las Vegas, my trip was booked as a package deal with 6 other family members, who have been to Las Vegas over 8 times.\tThis was their first stay at MGM. Upon arriving to the hotel Friday July 1st, the wait to check in was over 45 minutes, when we get to the desk we are told about a resort fee, which we knew nothing about. This fee was not advertised on our package, which they said included a newspaper sent to our room, which we never received. We had light bulbs out in our room, and it was an extremely dirty bathroom, which I had to purchase cleaning supplies to clean myself. We did tell the maid in the hall, she said she would take care of it which she never did. The rooms were very outdated, and the view was terrible. The whole 5 days we went to different casinos and hotels to enjoy great service as we felt we were treated negatively and I was very unhappy.\tIt was to much of a hassel to try and switch hotels so we dealt w/it, spending all of our time else where. Upon checking out Wednesday July 6th, the bell hop who was going to hold our bags for us while we got a coffee before our shuttle arrived was very rude. My husband was wearing a big backpack and when he turned to move our luggage he accidently grazed the shoulder of the worker. Who then became very upset, rolling his eyes and shaking his head and became angry in tone. My husband did not even know he had bumped him, and was confused on his behavior I however was not. I spoke up and told him it was an accident and he should show some composure and refrain from making faces, or rolling his eyes untill we walked away. He of course apolgized and we grabbed our luggage and waited outside for our shuttle. This was not the trip I expected due to the service level in this hotel and the attitude of the workers.\tMaybe customer service training is needed in this area as obviously this hotel is quite busy, as we talked to other patrons all of the experiences I heard we very negative. I will travel back to Las Vegas however I will never stay at this hotel again. Hopefully this can be used as training to better serve your customers in the future.

The Casino and Hotel itself are great, everything you could possibly want is all right there. The rooms however are not great. DO NOT stay in the west wing..terrible room! So small and cheap we moved to a different room in the signature tower and it was a little better. This was our second trip to Vegas, we stayed at the Bellagio the first time and the MGM does not compare. I really liked the pool and shopping at the MGM, but would only stay at this hotel if I paid the extra to book a suite.

Heck this hotel has it all, great resturants, people and location. I love Wolfgang Pucks! You can take a taxi and be at any part of the strip in 5 minutes. Cant wait for City Center to be completed!

Don't be concerned about staying at the MGM Grand. It's a good place from the 1 night experience we had here. We were able to get $75/night rooms with a $35 restaurant credit. We got to the hotel at 9 am and went to the check in counter to see if we could get our rooms early, even though official check in wasn't until 3 pm. They told us the rooms were being cleaned and to call the front desk in an hour and the rooms should be ready. Sure enough, we were able to get in. This is on a Thursday keep in mind. Fast elevators in this place! There are so many elevators for each wing that you rarely have to wait more than 30 seconds for one. The rooms have an old Hollywood theme and is very art deco. Very comfortable beds! I didn't want to get out of bed the next morning they were that good. The rooms and bathrooms were decorated nicely, though not as nice as say, The Mirage. The staff at the MGM was very helpful and addressed any concerns and questions promptly. Beautiful cocktail waitress staff in the casino, though not at scantily clad dressed as some of the other casinos. Yes, this place is big...you will walk a lot! Lots of nice looking restaurants to choose from, though they are all pricey. Expect to spend $30-60/meal at most of these places. A note about the restaurant credit: We thought they would just give us a coupon that we could use at the MGM's restaurants, but you actually have to charge the meal to the room, and they will take the $35 off the bill. We didn't know this, so we missed out. Oh well, nice to know for next time.

We took our first trip to LV and figured that the MGM Grand had a great reputation, s o we went with this hotel. We will never go again. First, we waited 2 hours in line as they had overbooked and were farming people out to the Towers, which I hear is very nice, but why did I have to wait because they overbooked? The management crew were a young mand and woman, who after being yelled at a few times, decided they would take care of matters from behind the desk. We waited 2 hours to go to a room on the 3rd floor; we walked down a long and dirty (can they clean the rugs once in a while?)hallway to a smelly (sewage smell each time we walked to our room through the West Wing Bar) bar and then to our room. The room itself was sparse, but nice. Only one chair for my husbnd and I to sit in; No privacy at all; bathroom right on top of the room. It was a disappointing first experience; especially since we picked it because of the name. I must say that the MGM was the best for gambling. The gambling area was very nice, the people working the tables were very nice and the MGM has a good exhaust system that took away most of the smoke smell. The waitresses were very nice and prompt! We actually went to many casinos, and we found that the MGM and NY NY were the best for the smoky smells and service. We LOVED NYNY and if we go back will stay there. \r\nWe did try to talk to a customer service person at MGM many times, but it was so crowded each time, so we didn't. I did ask for compensation for waiting 2 hours and was told no. Flat out.. MGM Grand...grand what??

It doesn't matter if you dress well. It doesn't matter if you are 'attractive,' polite and rich. \r\n\r\nThis place is about putting you in your place socially!! lol I mean if you are into being treated poorly - some people dig that - go to Tabu. \r\n\r\nPay full cover, wait in a line (while the lounge is empty), and finally get inside. Every table - even the tiny ones have a prominent 'reserved' sign ALL NIGHT. Want to sit down? No way Jose! If you pay $400 for bottle service and you burn through that hourly or so + extravagant tips + tolerate the constant warnings that the people 'who really reserved the table"" might be coming in any minute - you MIGHT be allowed to sit. Or you can pay $1500 for a dedicated Nicole Richie wannabe server to bring you drinks. That is for you. Not for your parties friends. They are also $1500 unless you communicate with them via two-way radio while they stand in the steerage area :).\r\n\r\nYou also get treated like a redhead stepchild at PURE, but at least there you might bump into a celebrity or two and they have that great upper deck area. \r\n\r\nHere at TABU you get put in your place from the get go. Actually funny because it is over the top. Don't go unless you are into being treated like a leper or you really plan on blowing at least $1.5k on essentially average looking server/models - ie the Nicoles ....

~~~ I was very impressed at the serenity I felt there myself. The seating is a few typical close quarters tables close to the bar and the mellow but striking redlights were the best I've deen since my best friends party garage. Along the walls there was close to the ground Middle Eastern type of lounging furniture. It was totally cool having my room down the corridor from it. Simply put it reminded me of a Oriental Opium Den on some movie set. :P
Service: Personal service gets lost at this Vegas giant.\r\nRooms: Spa suite was very nice.\r\nShows: KA was psychodellic fun.\r\nPool: Think spring break...loud obnoxious drunks. Not a place to relax and unwind.\r\n\r\nIn your face action 24-7. Great for party goers.\r\n\r\n
We decided to go to Tabu for a birthday party and had a good size group (9 girls and 3 guys). We had reservations for a table and when we got there the guy at the door (Charlie) said he ""forgot about the reservation."" He pretends to scrabble to get a table and then starts to get really agitated that we had 3 guys with us. He tells us that he has to charge a cover for the guys ($20/per) if we want our table. He ended up charging the guys half price. In my opinion still too much for what was inside. When we got sat at the table I noticed several other tables still open (which never got filled while we where there). Only thing going for this place is the music, great DJ. There is little to no dance floor and the entire place is disappointing small. Needless to say, after our bottle was empty we headed over to Studio 54 where we all had a GREAT time. I've been to other ultra lounges on the strip and I will never go back to this one.
I am very fond of the MGM/Mirage hotels. I?m a common Vegas vacationer with a hunger for entertainment, great food, and of course the gaming. I have stayed at most the hotels on the strip and old town; I have to say that the MGM is the worst in almost every way. This season I spent the first 3 nights at Mandalay Bay, which was a treat as usual, but ended my last 5 at MGM. I needed in my room while my girl was away with the key. I called the front desk; she said she would send someone up. I was treated very rudely. I followed up after I waited half an hour and then just went to the front desk. I was then told I wasn?t checked into the room. (When I had been added to the room when my girl check in). I had to wait for my girlfriend to come to the front desk to then check me in again. I played a lot of Blackjack between MGM and Luxor. I dropped about 3K evenly over two. Grant it, it?s not a big Vegas sum, but good gamer?s amount. It was like pulling teeth to get them to take my players card. I know because I wouldn?t start really betting until they got it. By the end of the trip we went to check out. We had an offer w/ our players cards that gave us the third night free & $25 food. After checking our players cards they wouldn't honor the third night free and said we didn?t qualify for the $25 food credit. WHAT A REDICULASLY SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY TO HASTLE US ABOUT. They charged the wrong card after we specifically had them run a different card then the one we booked the reservation with. Our friends that met us at MGM, and who also stayed were double billed. We went back later and DID get it resolved. The rooms were not well dont by housekeeping. The bartenders at Rouge were unaccommodating. My 5 star lady was very unhappy with her stay. Im usually happy wherever I am but I left the MGM feeling like a small-time unwanted guest.\r\n\r\nThe Good: The sandwich at had at ""witchcraft"" was very good. The gentlemen I reached at the concierge to order flowers was a delight.
We ended up at the MGM Grand after the fire at Monte Carlo and really enjoyed are stay. The hotel is VERY LARGE and a little confusing so I recommend taking the map they give you and take a nice walk around to help make sense of the layout so you don't get lost your entire stay. Being so large it has food, shopping and entertainment at all price levels instead of all expensive or not expensive. Service was good throughout the resort. It was a little cold in February so we didn't get to experience the pools. The gym is small in size but has everything you need.
I can't even tell you how great (or not great) the rooms were, because they sold my room to someone else because I didn't arrive at exactly 3pm for check in. I had pre-booked a spa suite online and they charged my credit card immediately. When we got there, the lady (who was like a robot, no personailty and completely unfriendly) began the rehearsed speach of ""I apolgize for the inconvience, but your room is not available"" when I asked why, she said ""it could be because of maintenence or blah blah blah""...then she proceeded to tell me she was going to give us an ""upgrade"" to a different suite, which ended up being exactly like the standard room, just larger. She didn't even know WHY I couldn't get the room I had already booked and been charged for. I live and work in Death Valley National Park and the Furnace Creek Inn (another 4 Diamond Resort) and I can tell you we do not treat our guests like this. What they had done was overbooked in hopes that a certain percentage would cancel, just so they could stay booked. But unfortunately for me, too many people showed up for their reservations. No manager was around to deal with the situation. I ended up spending 2 hours in the parking lot trying to find another room. I ended up staying at the Rio, which was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to get me the best room they had available, after telling them my issue from the MGM. Please, if you're going and wanting to check right into a room without hassle, DO NOT BOOK A ROOM AT THE MGM. You will be sorely disappointed.
Another NYE rant. We got out tickets on-line for five; The staff at the doors had us down for only 3 tickets, what would have happened if we did not have our on-line confirmations on hand? That?s a $300 mistake!! We wanted to gamble on the floor and then come back in and they told us that if they got packed they would not allow it. Seriously? At $150 a ticket? Yes, and what was up with the dance floor? A 4X6 space to dance on is ridiculous for a night club and that empty VIP section in the middle of the floor was a waste of space. Why? I will not go back. However, DJ Homicide rocked, it?s too bad there was nowhere to dance
What a disappointing place to spend NYE 2008!!! I am still not sure what is it that they charge us for $150, because the only good thing about this place was a great DJ Homicide. There was absolutely no place to dance as the entire central part was blocked with tables and seats for ... yes, exactly who was it for ...Tabu Management people???????? Because except for few old dancers and later on 2 (two) aging sugar daddies nobody was there!\r\nPlease, please send this management to get a Business Degree at a decent college so they find out what to do with money, because entertainment is not their thing.
My girlfriend and I went to Vegas for the day. we went to the MGM because one of our friends highly suggested this particular hotel. We arrived in Vegast at about 2pm. The hotel was really confusing and we werent' quite sure where to go to check in. Someone finally ushered us over to the check-in. Our credit card didn't go through and the agent in her rush to process us she said we should just leave it open. Not knowing that doing so would mean that we could not use the internet. Our room was really far away from the elevator and it was apparent that the hotel had undergone renovations and the side of the hotel that we were on had obviously not been apart of the upgrade. The shower did not drain properly and overflowed when we took a shower. The room was not at all functional but the bed was super comfortable. The room let all the noise in. Very loud. I think next time we'll try a different hotel and see how that goes.
I thought this place was great. I came here on a Friday night with my sister and was bummed at first to wait in line, but then a guy came around and gave cards to all the ladies to get in free. Plus Oakenfold was playing that night, so I was pretty happy just to get in. The bouncer was polite, the bartenders were nice and actually knew how to make a good drink. Prices weren't too bad- I think $12 for a long island. The music was awesome. After about 1am the people that reserved tables are drunk and dancing on the them. This is the only club I've ever been that had a longer line for the men's room than the ladies. (There was probably a 2:1 ratio of men:women) Anyway, I had a great time and I would definitely come back.
You've heard all the hype about the MGM Grand. Now let me tell you what it's REALLY like to stay there. My family and I stayed there last July 13 and we will never return again. They have about 5 or 6 pools that are actually quite small for such a large hotel. The pools are always very crowded and unpleasant. We chose not to go in the pools around noon when we saw how crowded they were and also the temperature was about 110 degrees. So we planned to go out to the pools around 7 p.m. when the sun was lower and hopefully the crowds had decreased. Well, we got out there about 7 and were told that all but one small pool was ""closed"". They packed hundreds of people into the one pool that remained open and that one pool was scheduled to close at 7:45 p.m. So after 7:45 p.m. NO pools are open! I asked an attendant why they closed the pools so early and he said ""the hotel doesn't want people spending time in the free pools when they can be spending money at the casinos and in the shows"". So apparently the MGM Grand sees their guests as ""cattle"" to hurd toward money making activities for themselves. This is insulting considering I paid over $200 for a room there. Seeing the hundereds of people in this one small pool packed almost shoulder to shoulder I decided not to go in but my young son really wanted to swim so I let him go in the pool. When he got out he said ""You know, the water tasted salty, not like chlorine"". I didn't want to tell him that the reason for that was all the sweat of the thousands of people who have been in that small pool all day. It would have made him sick. It made me sick to even think about it. So there you are. That's what it means to stay at the MGM Grand hotel. That's what you get for your $200 to $300 per night. Have a great trip!
Tabu is a joke. It's basically your typical formula for an upscale lounge: expensive drinks + a steep cover charge + pretentious staff + nothing unique or special (no good view, average dj, no good lighting) = this place. Plus, there is nowhere to sit unless you want to order bottle service for $400 a bottle. There were tons of empty tables so we sat at one, and then a tool bouncer kicked us out saying ""the group who reserved this table just showed up."" Ironically, the table remained empty for the rest of the night. I guess it's just their scam to try and manipulate you to order bottle service for $400 a bottle because the $20 cover charge and $10 drinks multiplied by the 4 people in our group was not enough money being spent to justify letting us sit. Furthermore, the VIP cards a promotoer gave my group at the MGM pool that day only work for girls. I went to the club with 3 extremely good looking girls and they still made me pay cover. Plus, there were a lot more guys than girls. The guys there were mostly sleazy used car salesmen types and scared the few hot girls in the club off with their pathetic pick up lines. Overall, this club is nothing special and a waste of money. There are MUCH better options in Vegas (ie Tao, Body English, Moon). The only reason I went in the first place was because we had free passes which weren't free for guys. I would never go back.
Tabu is a joke. It's basically your typical formula for an upscale lounge: expensive drinks + a steep cover charge + pretentious staff + nothing unique or special (no good view, average dj, no good lighting) = this place. Plus, there is nowhere to sit unless you want to order bottle service for $400 a bottle. Pros: we were staying in the MGM so location was a pro. Otherwise nothing
Cons: staff, junior varsity crowd, more expensive than great vegas clubs
Seeing that it has been a year or so since anyone has reviewed this place and it is still fresh in my mind, I will give you my impression. We stayed in the West Wing which has been renovated in more modern, frosted glass appointments in the bathroom and very comfortable bedding and loft style furnishings. The place was a zoo and it took a while to check in, but everyone was friendly. The room was about $150 with tax on a weeknight during June. If you want a cheap room, stay at Excalibur, Circus Circus or the Monte Carlo. If you want expensive, stay at Wynn or the Bellagio. I believe MGM has the most rooms, slots and table games, but I could be wrong. The location is at the south end of the strip, across from New York, New York and within walking distance to the next major street, Flamingo. The restaurants are way overpriced, but they have French, Japanese, Mexican, Wolfgang Puck's, Seafood and a 24 hour cafe. There also is a Rainforest Cafe and the buffet, which I haven't tried. I prefer food made to order, but that doesn't cost $40 for an entree! The pool is awesome. There are 5 to choose from, including a winding loop that you can tube on while drinking a beer. Float rentals are currently $16, so you may want to wait until a few hours before they close, which is 8:00 (too early!) and grab a free one lying around. The Ka Cirque Du Soleil looks incredible, but we didn't catch it. After seeing a few others this trip, we saw the making of the set and the performers and now regret not paying a little more than we did for Mystiere at the Mirage. All in all, the MGM has a good balance of middle to high priced rooms, that are nice, especially the small, but nicely appointed West Wing, a plethora of expensive restaurants and great pools. You will have to walk around to get around and it is easy to go the wrong way, even with all of the signs. If you are on a tight budget, you may want to look elsewhere.
Pros: Good vibe. Good restaurants. Great Pools. Good location.
Cons: Expensive restaurants. Pool and rooms require good walking shoes!
Nice place but pretty weak crowd. The bouncer made me pay $20 to get right in and I was with two hotties! Anyway we were at PURE earlier and if you can handle crowds and get on the list it's light years better.
We spend a few nights here in a suite and we really liked our room. It's a nice hotel with nice lounges and plenty of restaurant choices. The buffet was dissapointing and there isn't much of video poker, but other than that it's a nice place to stay.
I loved that everything in here is RED! The music rocks and the bartenders and waitresses were really friendly and easy to talk to. Good drink service and an overall neat place to hang out with a special someone or a group of friends.
The room was depressing and not large enough. I got a smoking room, but, I still could smell smoke. At Main Lobby, we had to wait about 30 minutes to talk to representatives for card charge.this hotel is too big.\r\n We will not go back to this hotel.
The atmosphere is fun and there is plenty of room to dance, especially if you jump up on the tables. Most who attend are dressed classy so be ready to mingle. Out of all the clubs at the MGM I found this one to be the best. There wasn't a long ridiculous line and it wasn't extremely crowed. So ladies you don't have to worry about you're hair frizzing up.
Rude bartenders, major attitude problem with the staff. Won't buy a drink there if it was the only bar in las vegas
I've stayed at the MGM Grand three times now, and I will likely stay there again. The hotel is in a good location (now that the lower strip has more to do) and has quite a few decent restaurants. The monorail station is very close to the lobby. Rooms are pretty standard and not very interesting. I most recently stayed in a mini-suite and while it had a great bathroom, the bedroom area could have been just about any hotel in the area in how it looked. The hotel isn't a great value overall -- just sort of middle of the road. The worst part about the MGM is that the size means lots of people, walking, lines, and waiting. Check-in can be a long wait. Even taking the elevator down from a high floor during peak hours can seem like forever. Walking from one end of the hotel to the other is quite a hike. That said, I'll probably make a reservation soon.
One of the older Strip casinos, it doesn't have all the flash and fancy of some of the other places, but the interior is great, the lions are incredible, and the bar makes a great mojito! We spent our time gambling here and it was a blast.
This is a very nice hotel. They don't really have a theme much anymore like they used to have the whole movie set up (Wizard of Oz) back in the day, but the place is quite large. It is easy to get lost inside the structure and outside in the parking garage. Take notes on where you are parked because this particular garage is one of the worst in Las Vegas.
The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino had a lot to offer everyone; food entertainment, exhibits, and animals. The emerald lights of the hotel towers with the gold lion tells everyone that you are entering an extravagant kingdom, but you have to be physically fit to navigate the premises and an excellent map reader, otherwise you will get lost in the jungle. Don't wear new shoes or high heels; you will pay dearly!
