Authentic sushi, teppanyaki and pan-Asian tasting menus are but a few of the pleasures and treasures that await at Shintaro. This sleek, California-inspired dining room boasts expansive views of the fountains of Bellagio and lights of Las Vegas. All manners of tempuras, teriyakis and grilled dishes are featured on the contemporary menu. At the teppanyaki tables, diners can experience a live theatre of cooking, with master chefs preparing multi-course dinners right before their eyes. The popular sushi bar is highlighted by a dramatic, kaleidoscopic display of live jelly fish. A large selection of Japanese beers and sakes are always offered.

In Short
Three huge tanks behind the sushi chefs are illuminated with jellyfish, while the vaguely Asian-themed dining room around the corner is accented with thick maroon curtains and intricate carpeting. Chose a teppanyaki table, where your chef cooks the food before you, or a regular table for sushi or other Japanese fare. Freshwater eel sushi and spicy tuna rolls are melt-in-your-mouth fresh. The stir-fry extravaganza at the teppanyaki tables includes salad and miso soup.

Key Points

  • Sushi bar
  • Located inside Bellagio
  • American/French wines and sake

The Inside Scoop

  1. When to Go - If you've opted for a teppanyaki table, make sure to arrive promptly--tables are communal and chefs won't begin preparing food until all guests are present.
  2. Know Before You Go - Even though Vegas is known for all-night eating and visitors who never sleep, Shintaro stops serving at 10pm.

Ratings_icons When you can't get to Japan in a hurry

FoodieFromPhilly

Food here was excellent, after 5 years of living in Japan, I have grown accustomed to more traditional Japanese fair and don't fully appreciate the American chain famous for it's showiness.

The food here was excellent and a fantastic trip down memory lane to the days when I could have good Japanese food everyday.

My wife and I go here every time we are in town.

Ratings_icons Great for Teppan Yaki or Traditional Seating

I have eaten here twice, and had two wonderful experiences. The first was a large group, of 11, on a busy night. We were given a private room in the back, with views and huge windows...We didnt even request a private room, so it was an awesome surprise. I had scallops (even though im not supposed to eat shellfish) and medallions of filet mignon, with 2 liters of Kirin to finish it off. great experience. very expensive, but a top notch meal, almost 100$ per person

The teppanyaki was above average, but a bit expensive, at around 80/person. I have had TY just as good for 1/2 the price. Great experience, but not the best value.

Pros: Great Service, Location

Cons: Price

After a horrible day of flying and checking in during NASCAR weekend, we decided on Shintaro for our favorite teppenyaki dishes....while the price is high for any sushi restaurant, the service, quality and atmosphere were all we needed to get our Vegas trip started right. Anything on the menu is recommended, but I prefer the grilled seafood combination along with your favorite sushi. Shintaro is a must on my list for every Vegas trip.

Ratings_icons Not worth the wait

Took sig. other here for special birthday dinner. I had a sushi sampler plate and he had a chicken teriyaki dinner. The sushi was not great, his dinner was just not good at all. We've had better Japanese food at your neighborhood hole-in-the-wall restaurants for half the price. It was over priced for the quality of food. I overheard a waiter tell someone it was a $20 plate fee if they wanted to split a dinner.
The atmosphere however was beautiful! Very lovely restaurant and a spectacular view of the fountains right outside. That made the dinner - and I'm sure that is what you are paying for.
Service was very average if not below average.

Pros: Atmosphere, View

Cons: , Food below average , Slow service
