What a find! Visiting the fine city of Austin for a ISPA Convention , I was told of this Hairdresser Mark Thomas . I booked a hair treatment and color service . Wow my Color and Bayalge highlights ,cut and the most amazing what they called a facial for your hair by j.f.lazartigue .
I am already planning my trip back for more. Not only was it the best and most relaxing salon experiance I have ever had , I love my hair and the comments on how great my color looks as well as my cut.
The whole staff was 5 star from start to finish and i am loking forward to my next appointment .

I have to let everyone know that after getting my hair cut and hi-lighted by Mark, I've never looked better or younger! I found him to be less expensive than the majority of Austin hair stylists. When my husband was between jobs, Mark worked with me to find a budget that worked for me and my whole family! What a thoughtful person!!! Thanks Mark!

How many times have I tried to relay to a stylist that I don't want to look like I'm "trying" to hard achieve a mordern cut/style for myself.
Jorge gave me a look and cut that only my NY stylist could produce. ( one that looks effortless and works with my over-all persona .)
What a wonderful experience with a truly talented individual!

Pros: The best ,without the ego!

Not long ago, as I sat down to have my hair cut by a new stylist who sported a gold corset and filled me in on all the details of her personal life (and every other stylist in the salon) I thought to myself, "Why is it so hard to find a skilled, professional stylist in Austin?"

My search is over.

Mark Thomas is *the best* stylist I've ever had. He has a WONDERFUL personality and I find myself laughing and laughing as he works his magic on my hair. He pays careful attention to what I ask him to do an never balks of chafes when I give him direction. His salon is clean, relaxing, and stocked with great products. Clint, his assistant, is an incredibly nice person and gives a shampoo that is to die for. I don't know Michael (the other stylist) but I have observed him with his clients and I would go to him in a heartbeat as well.

Mark utilizes a little-used but highly effective technique called "baliage" to highlight hair. Few stylists use this technique because it is not easy to master, but when done correctly it gets the color/bleach as close to the roots as possible (closer than the foil method). This allows Mark complete control over how and where he is applying the highlights and it makes for long-lasting highlights.

Marks haircuts have excellent structure and last forever, as well. This is significant because while you may pay a little bit more for one of Mark's haircuts, they last longer which will save you $$ in the end.

Mark Thomas is one of the most talented and knowledgeable colorists and cutters in the Austin market.
His personable service, attention to detail and generous spirit have ensured him a devoted following. Clint provides a warm and welcoming reception and a fabulous shampoo and scalp massage. MT Studio is upscale and professional, but never pretentious or frenetic. You owe it to yourself to try it!

Michael has been my only source for color and cuts since winning the Miss Austin USA pageant in 2005. Four years later, I still love seeing him for my appointments... not only because he is fabulous with hair but also because he is such a wonderful person to get to know.

Mark was my hairstylist for a number of years in SF, and then he moved to Austin. After trying about 15 other hairstylists in SF, I decided it was worth my time and money to fly to Austin and have my hair done so I wouldn't have to worry each time whether it would turn out or not. We've all been through that, right? He does beautiful highlights and color and gorgeous cuts to fit your face and personal style, and Austin is a great city to go to have a fun weekend! You never have to have a moments worry with Mark doing your hair...I love him!

I have been going to Mark Thomas for several years....have folllowed him from BOB Salon to his fabulous new shop. He is is right on with color....such a keen eye.....every time...knows what is going to look best, even when you think you know better...and is a true artist with a pair of scissors. Clint is a gift from heaven...the BEST shampoo and scalp massage EVER! I would follow Mark to China if I had to!! The best!!

I have been a client of Mark Thomas's for over 20 years. I have followed him from Houston, New York, San Francisco and no to Austion. Not only does he cut great hair but is also the best with color. Ever time I leave his salon I get asked who does my hair. If only I lived in Austin!

I started my search for a hairdresser last year when I moved from New York. Mark Thomas was recommended to me through my contacts at Donna Karan.
I'm such a sceptic when it comes to hairdressers outside the city of Manhattan that it took me some time to call.
I love the work that Mark has done with my hair. In my opion he rates at the top in his field!

I wouldd not hesitate to refer any of my New York or Austin friends to him!

Mark has consistantly given my hair the best color job ever!!!
His Allure Magazine right up was correct ... he is one of the nations best colorist !!
Love the shop and Clint gives the best shampoos in Austin!
