First we ordered soup and apetizers the service was quick but the food was not at all good. The fried tofu was litterally dripping oil. The soup was very sour. Main dishes were the same. I had thai spicy basil. it was worse to taste. too salty, onions were not cooked properly and no flavor could only taste strong soy sauce. We were four of us and 2 kids. They dont have kids menu so ended up ordering whole adult size and again not at all worth the price. I am never going there. BTW all in all our bill was about 100 dollars for four people. I call it expensive. I would not mind paying for good food but better alternative exists try Thai palace instead in chapel hill or twisted noodles in durham.

Good food and service is great.\n\nNo complaints but there are other places that offer similar foods for less. china Thai in RTP is a great alternative if you are near RTP.

Cary is fortunate to have a Thai restaurant of this quality! The atmosphere, the food, the service, the prices - all are in line and all total up to a great experience. There aren't that many places here in Cary to rave about, but this is one. If you enjoy Thai food, you will love Tom Yum Thai. Special standouts: Green Chicken Curry, Green Papaya Salad.

I have been married to a native Thai man for 15 years, and lived in Thailand for 5 years. I have tried Thai food in Thai land, and all over the world...and at this point would call myself a Thai food connoisseur. I moved to Raleigh two years ago and have been in search of the best Thai food in Raleigh, Durham and Cary. I found Tom Yum Thai to be the best Thai food in the research triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill), and to be in the top 5 best Thai restaurants I have ever eaten at. The owner is friendly and moved to Cary from Thai land about a year ago. The food is fresh, elegant, and full of delicious flavor. The restaurant atmosphere is wonderful, great mood lighting and music, perfect for a date...makes me think I am back in Thai land and my husband agrees 100%:) The food is also very reasonably priced. I would STRONGLY suggest eating here!!!

The owner or one of his friendly staff members will greet you when you partake on your 1st T.Y.T. experience. I was most impressed when they recognized my voice over the phone the 2nd time I called for pick-up. Plus, the staff remembered how I liked it b/c they don't mind if you don't care for a certain veggie & want to swap it for something you'd prefer {which speaks miles, as some restaurants are quite snooty & charge you}. My 2 1/2 yr old daughter loves the massaman curry chx ordered med spicy accompanied by a salad w/their house made garlic dressing. The lunch is very AFFORDABLE, all menu items = $7.95 that entails an iced tea, salad & entree....Cary's best bargain for quality tasty cuisine!

I am not a connoisseuer of Thai food specifically but I do love Asian, and the food was excellent. Y\n\nou can choose the level of spice - Medium, American hot, Thai hot - and one not on the menu, Thai extra hot. I had Thai hot and it was a challenge but very good, not so hot it was painful to eat but I did end up with a runny nose and sweaty forehead.

My wife and I are always looking for great Thai restuarants and definitely found one in Tom Yum Thai. We found the staff to be very welcoming and the food to be incredibly good. My wife, who is Thai, said this restuarant makes her feel like being back in Thailand. I would be in total agreement with her. We highly recommend Tom Yum Thai to all of our friends and family.

Tom Yum apparently changed hands last spring; we've been a couple of times since then and the food has been wonderful. Most places are too timid when spicing for Americans; Tom Yum knows exactly what I mean by ""hotter than American hot but not as hot as Thai hot."" :-) The prices seem a remarkable bargain; the decor is very pleasant and soothing, and service has been excellent. Highly recommended!

The food was good, although the cashew tofu was overly endowed with onions, a cheap filler. I would have liked more vegetables and sauteed tofu instead of deep fried. On the other hand, Orange chicken, a dish that's often too sweet, had a really nice fresh orange zest overtone. Portions were generous. Tea was oddly a smoky lapsang souchong, rather than the traditional Thai spice tea. Coffee was simply American coffee, and instant at that. Bleagh! Forget dessert. Not worth the calories. Bland. Garish. \n\nOverall the food was good, well prepared, served quickly and pleasantly. However, the owner came over to ask us how we found the restaurant, since he noted we hadn't been there before. I have never had such an in depth survey of the effectiveness of advertising before at a restaurant, and it was intrusive. I sense a desperation in these folks; I hope they survive. There's a lot to like here.

I have to say that Tom Yum Thai is the best Thai restaurant that I have been to in the Triangle. The menu has a great selection of items, some not available elsewhere, with the lunch menu offering an excellent value.\n\nThe table ordered Red Curry Chicken, Masaman Curry and a special that was on the menu, Orange Chicken. All the dishes were superb. The restaurant also offers sticky rice and crispy dried beef, which were very good as were the Thai spring rolls. \n\n

Have been going to this restaurant since it opened. Started going for lunches and then took the whole family for dinner. This is now the family favorite place to eat. My kids don't eat fast food and they love the food at this restaurant. Thai spring rolls and Thai dumplings are delicious. Main dishes, we keep trying all different and every one has been fabulous. Last time had the flounder special with basil sauce and the amazing chicken which lived up to its name. Green curry is a favorite along with the pad Thai. Don't pass on the desserts. They make their own coconut ice cream that is to die for. I love the sticky rice also. Every time it has been consistently great. Atmosphere and service are also tops. The owner always remembers us and openly welcomes my 3 kids.

I think I have tried every Thai restaurant in the Triangle, oftentimes being dragged to them by my wife who spent part of her early childhood in Thailand (where her father ""General Joe"") was stationed. She rates Tom Yum Thai as the best in Wake County...and although not the connoisseur that she is, I most heartily agree. While the awesome lunch specials and convenient location lure her two or three days a week for a midday business meal (typically without me--dang it!), we often find ourselves picking Tom Yum Thai as a dinner prelude to a movie at the Galaxy or Crossroads Theaters. Whether dining inside or out on the patio, the atmosphere is quite relaxing, the service warm & friendly, and the food a simple, but grand, culinary experience. And with the prices sooooo reasonable, it almost feels like our post dinner movie is free!!! Bottom line: I love being ""dragged"" to this Thai restaurant.

Tom Yum Thai serves delicious Thai dishes that are beautiful, fresh, and tasty. Some of the dishes are unique to this restaurant, such as my favorite appetizer, which has fried watercress and a wonderfully tangy dressing. I've NEVER been disappointed, and I go to the restaurant as often as I can manage, nearly every week. The staff is friendly and efficient. If you enjoy Thai food, you will LOVE Tom Yum Thai!

My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for about a year. Each time we marvel at the quality and taste of the food. Today we stopped there for lunch and since they had soft shell crabs on the special menu I had to have them. I was not sorry. They were fried in a tempura type coating and were in garlic and basil sauce. What a treat. We have recommended this restaurant to several people and they all agree that it is a great place.
