Amalia's Guatemalan Restaurant has the most authentic & tasteful Guatemalan cuisine in Los Angeles. As a family owned & operated fine dining, and yet casual spot, Amalia and his family pride in preparing all their dishes from scratch. From the delicious tamales and corn tortillas, to the tamarind drink, you will have an unforgettable dining experience. An inviting outdoor patio is a great place for a delicious lunch or dinner with family or friends. And on Sundays for lunch, live marimba, the traditional instrument of the Guatemalan indigenous, accompanies the gorgeous ambiance and tasty entrees. To all our customers we are now offering great breakfast and lunch specials. Call for more information.

We got their menu left on our doorstop so we thought we'd give it a try. It was a good choice! Everything we ordered was good. Specifically the Pollo en Crema and the Longaniza chorizo. I like chorizo but am used to it served Mexican style at breakfast. This was a little different but oh, so good. In fact, everything is a little different if you are used to Mexican food but we enjoyed it all. We got the Antojitos Amalia to give all their appetizers a try, I would order each one as single appetizer in future visits, everything was fresh and handmade.

One of the BEST kept secret in Guatemalan Restaurant?s in Los Angeles Area, I drive once a week or more from the San Fernando Valley to enjoy Amalia?s home style cooking, I love Hilachas, Garnachas, platanos, and many more stuff that they have but too much to list. I would recommend Amali?s Restaurant to anyone that wants to try excellent Guatemalan food.
***Also considered a GREAT Find in LA Times***

I love this place and I drive from the San Fernando Valley at least one's a week to have their great food, they take care of you like family. I highly recommend to ask for Susie to take care of your table. If its your first time I will recommend getting "Plato Amalia's". Go try it you will love it and will go back again and again. Enjoy :-)

Ratings_icons The best black refried beans and carne adobada in LA!

I don't live that far from Amalia's, and noticed that they have marimba on Saturday afternoon, so I took my son whom was taken by the marimba, and my mother for an early dinner. Their service is terrific, and their food really is above the typical Guatemalan restaurant I've visited. They take pride in their customer service, and their food is delicious. I had the carne adobaba and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! They re-invented Guatemalan food service in Los Angeles by providing excellent service in a clean location, very traditional and the food is as delicious as the food your mamma would make. You have to try them to know what I mean. Oh, and if you like atol de platano (plantain hot drink), you will love theirs!

Pros: Live Marimba Saturdays
