The Scene
With hanging glass lamps and vibrant orange-and-gold walls, this vast open-air room brings a touch of Middle Eastern exoticism to the happening Mission strip. The bar area is strewn with clutches of low-slung chairs and couches, which are perfect for happy hour nibbles. In addition to a traditional dining area further back, an upstairs lounge offers even more seating.

The Food
The small-plates menu takes inspiration from all over the Mediterranean. The appetizer sampler has a special emphasis on the Middle Eastern tradition, with textbook renditions of baba ghanoush, tabbouleh and hummus. A distinct Northern African element is apparent in the harissa-crusted hangar steak and the chicken with almond-pomegranate sauce. But the best dishes have a California influence, such as the Moroccan b'stilla, layered with phyllo, goat cheese and grilled vegetables.

Key Points

  • Rooftop skybar
  • morning cafe
  • dinner and lounge

The Inside Scoop

  1. The Extras - A small area that overlooks the sidewalk is open for breakfast and lunch, serving simple snacks and sandwiches.
  2. What to Drink - Though a full bar serves the usual trendy cocktails, like mojitos and cosmopolitans, the brief list of wines by the glass are a much better match for the Mediterranean fare.
  3. Where to Sit - On a sunny day, relax with a cocktail on Medjool's fabulous roof-top terrace.

Medjool is a perfect place to meet friends and have fun!

by Jennine P. | insider Insider | Rank: 24,354

I went to Medjool last week for a friends birthday. The apps were delish! At 11 it turns into a dance club and it was a blast. The rooftop had at least 300 people on it dancing and carrying on. The inside wasn't as crowded so we stayed in but you have the option to hang on the front patio overlooking Mission Street, I enjoyed that too. The couches and seating are super comf and the music was great. This is a fabulous place to meet friends and catch up while enjoying tasting grub and not feeling like you are being rushed out or cramped for space. I highly recommend it. They will reserve a spot for you if you have a party meeting you so that makes things very easy for the host. Enjoy...

Terrible service- double and triple charged

by CSMobileUser

Medjool has a warm and inviting atmosphere, but I was disappointed with service from the moment we sat down. One person in our party was served 20 minutes after everyone else. One person was charged twice and one person was charged more than five times what she signed for on the receipt. The management and owner was unapolegetic- and wasted precious vacation time to get things rectified. Truly disappointing. Don't waste your time or money.

I've only been here once for an event on the rooftop and it was a rare warm night in the city. Great place for food and drinks. Mint mojitos were really good.

great view

by tobiaspeggs

side step the hipsters and head to the roof top - best view in town, great crowd. lovely. best time of year to come is the fall when the warm nights are with us, and you can just hang out outside and soak up san francisco.

Pros: best view in town

marina in the mission

by zhentest

great place to hang out for drinks and light tapas. Especially enjoy the roof bar which can get incredibly crowded on fridays and saturday evenings. The music isn't too bad also. I would recommend medjool as an early evening spot to hang out, and if you crave something different, head out to brunos or skylark.

Pros: roof bar

Cons: price

AWESOME!!!!! I'LL BE BACK.

by mirandad

CAME IN HERE YESTERDAY TO CHECK OUT THE SKY TERRACE. AMAZING VIEW!!!! (AND IN THE MISSION, I MIGHT ADD) DECENT COCKTAILS. A BIT OVERPRICED, BUT GOOD. IT GOT A BIT COLD SO WE WERE GOING TO HEAD DOWN TO EL FARALITO FOR SOME BURROS, THEN WE DECIDED TO EAT AT THE RESTAURANT DOWNSTAIRS. HOSTESS WAS REALLY SWEET. WE DIDN'T HAVE A RESERVATION, BUT SEEING THAT IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY, WE WERE PROMPTLY SEATED. THEIR MENU IS PRETTY EXTENSIVE. OUR WAITRESS WAS ADORABLE. VERY SWEET. SHE RECOMMENDED SOME GREAT DISHES. WE GOT THE LAMB TAJIN, BRUSHETTA, HALIBUT, AND SOME GOAT CHEESE THING THAT WAS DELISIOSO!! PLATES WERE REALLY small,( ASIDE FROM THE LAMB,THAT IS. ) BUT I GUESS THAT'S WHAT TAPAS ARE RIGHT? WE ORDERED JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT FOR TWO, WITHOUT BEING PUSHED TO BUY MORE, LIKE SOME OTHER TAPAS PLACES.(THAT'S ANOTHER REVIEW ALTOGETHER). FOR DESSERT...CHEESECAKE...ONE WORD...DIVINE. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK. MAYBE ON A FRIDAY OR SATURDAY, WHEN THERE'S MORE ACTION.(side note: this place is MASSIVE. it's like five floors, with a little hotel in the middle. really cool.)

Drinks Only

by enserio

Whatever you do...no matter how hungry you are- DO NOT order any food! Whatever it is will be cold (unless it's supposed to be, in which case it will be warm), tiny in proportion to what is described,
I'm not saying a chic small portion, I'm talking about an ounce of poor grade Ahi cut into a $12 appetizer and dry as sandpaper, poorly seasoned, and poorly presented.

You might want to eat before you come here to play

by openville

Well I agree with Eryn L. that the view from the Medjool rooftop is amazing, the quality of the food has gone way down, while the prices have been going way up. Medjool use to be one of favorite haunts a few years back, but since then the management catered more to the twenty-somethings trying to keep their food from coming up vs. people who just want a good meal. But hey, don't take my word for it, just breeze through the other reviews and you will see more comments on people watching and the roof top deck, than the pomegranate chicken. If you want a quality Mediterranean meal, my suggestion would be to visit Maykadeh in North Beach. If you want a nice view, pick one ... we have plenty in the city. As for people watching ... summer is coming soon'nough.

Pros: The crowd and the deck

Cons: Price per value of the food

GORGEOUS VIEWS!!!!!!!!!

by henryspitzer

This place is so unique to the diverse range of restaurants here in San Francisco, that i am surprised it was not thought of a long time ago. We went on a busy Saturday night and we were well taken care of. We had no reservations, the hostes was very friendly and got us seated very quickly. Our drinks were really good and the appetizers were good, a little on the small portion side. We ended up on the rofftop bar, and it we enjoyed an amazing view of the city. The music they were playing was loungey. Loved this place, definitely going back!

Don't waste your time or money eating here

by SFxxx

Overpriced and mediocre food. Fish (bacalao) cakes could be mistaken for not having fish (mostly potato). Also, service was slow. After spending over $40 per person, some people went down to the street to get a burrito. Don't waste your time or money eating here.

Good food in small portions and really bad service! (downstairs)

by ma44

Yes it is too bad another restaurant we will not be going to again due to bad service. My family (all adults) party of nine went there for dinner sunday night early at six o'clock only a couple of other people where there with us. The waitress started out friendly in the beginning giving us her spiel about how they give one person portions but usually people share to try new food out etc. blah blah blah so that was fine. She then proceeded to take our drink and when she delivered are food she took are food orders from then it was down hill. When we decided to order more food she advised us again you can order and share or "to what ever you want" rolled her eyes and turned around and left. When she came back to take our order I asked for another glass of wine well the food came I ate and never saw my glass of wine. She then brought the desert menu and I told her I order I wanted to cancel by wine order and good she please bring me coffe instead so I could have with my desert. She said umm umm umm OK yeah it didn't pour the wine yet as if it was the bartenders fault and did not apologize for not bring me the wine. Later when she picked up the tab she opend it up and counted the money $364.00 right in front of us which I have never seen someone do that before I mean this is supposedly a 4 star restaurant or not! When we gave her the money even though the gratuity was already calculated we gave $15.00 over the total and since she made us made and we felt she did not deserve the tip we asked that the Chef be given the tip.

Pros: good food, good drinks

Cons: really bad service and parking is bad

I had a blast on Medjools roof top patio with a group of friends. If you like small plates of exotic food, good drinks and a great place to hang out on a Sunday. Check out this Mission hide out. The servers are nice and courteous. I will try the downstairs dinning room next.

Good grub...slow service

by localero

We went to Medjool during the week so it was not crowded and the only people there were for the food. I really liked the Grilled Hanger Steak, Seared Sea Scallops and the Grilled Lamb Sirloin. The baba ganoush and tabuoli with pita was good too. The place looked pretty impressive...large eating area, open kitchen, really high ceilings. Crazy roof deck. Too bad it was crappy outside. The service was slow. Especially considering there was not a lot of people there and they were fully staffed. Stick to beer or wine...they recommended some cocktails that were weak. All in all, it was a good dining experience.

Pros: food and ambience

Cons: service

The Hostess with the Mostest

by seh21

I must say, this restaurant has always been one of those "hit-or-miss places"- that is, hitting or missing a night that this incredible hostess is working. She's totally on top of her game (got us a table without a reservation in about 20 minutes on a completely full night ) and running (literally at times) the show. While having our drink at the bar, my buddy and I were commenting on her genuine enthusiasm and delivery of the best service we've experienced in San Francisco. A job well done, Medjool.

Pros: Quality of service, food

Cons: Lots of people, Marina folks

Worst experience of my young life...

by dubv

I used to like Medjool, I even gave them some slack for giving my group bad service on a Tuesday night with no one else in the entire restaurant. But after this last time I'll never, ever go to this "bar" ever again. I was so rudely treated by thier thug security staff, physically acosted for wearing a hat and told to leave immediately...FOR NO REASON. Ok, I was wearing a hat, but so were 50 other guys all around me, but I guess this security guard didn't like the fact that I was blending into the crowd, not making a scene, enjoying a cocktail with my lady friend, and moreover enjoying my time on the roof. So he flicked my hat up off my head and said that if I didn't take my hat off he was going to kick me out. I asked him why and all he said was that he didn't like my hat. Ok a$$hole. So, enraged, I left, but not before complaining to a manager who could care less about how rudely I was treated (a paying customer dropping lots of money on $9 jack and cokes). I guess its an ok place to go if you don't cross one of the security staff on a bad night whilst wearing a head covering. Drink at your own risk.

Pros: Nice view, lots of "hot" people

Cons: Jerks in black calling themselves "Security"

If you're looking for a bar - but don't actually like bars - try Medjool!

by architectguy

Wow! Medjool is the bar I always dreamed about when I was 17 years old and had never been to a bar. Wait in a long line, have some guy in a suit tell me I can go in, pay a cover... Why pay a cover? Because it's worth it! Sure, you could probably go to half a dozen other bars within 1 block - but you and a thousand other tourists can rest assured that by paying a cover at Medjool you're getting into the best bar in town.

I knew I had found the ultimate bar when I got to the roof deck. It's so hard to find a good view in San Francisco, especially if you want to share it with 500 trixies and chads. Medjool puts it all together for you. And who cares how many people are in line to buy a drink? I didn't want to drink anyway.

Pros: View

Cons: service, wait time, value for cover, the crowd

Went to Medjool on Saturday night for the first time with a couple of friends and Had a great time. The food was delicious, all tapas style. The service was very friendly, and attentive. The guys that work there are really good looking too! We ended up staying for the late night music, and we couldn't stop dancing, good music. We all left very happy. Thank you Medjool

WOW! What a comeback!

by timzim

Recently went back to medjool this past week, and i must say thinhgs have changed quite a bit. I see all new faces, new servers, new mangement. Even the food tastes soo much better. Whatever they did it worked. This place is finally living up to the hype. We went on a gorgeous day to the rofftop bar. The bartenders were extremely friendly and the mojitos were really good and fresh. It seemed like there were a few new menu items as well so we had to try them. We had the half roasted chicken with the the olive oil potatoes YUM! After all the reviews this place gets, I think they have done an excellent job of bringing it back to one of the top restaurants in san francisco.

GOOD TIMES AT MEDJOOL!

by jsully23789

This had been our second time here at lovely Medjool, and to be honest with you it was even better than the first! We (me and my wife) brought our parents in last night and we were all in awe. This place is so beautiful that we had to stop and take pictures of the hanging chandeliers. We were approached by a friendly host and we were seated right away. Our waitress was extremely friendly and since our parents were from out of town, they had alot of questions about the menu and she was very patient and helpful i explainig the ingredients in the food. We ordered some house specialty drinksand they were all very tasty! We pretty much ordered everyhing off the menu, and we loved it all. We then decided to to head to the rooftop bar, another amazing sight! Just a bit cold though, but the heaters helped alot! I love this place and plan to come back again soon! I would like to try this place on the weekend and check out the music and dancing.

Over-hyped and Over-priced!

by girl_on_the_town

Four of us were excited to try Medjool on a recent Friday night but we were all underwhelmed after all the hype about the place. The menu contained at least a dozen items that sounded fabulous but we found the flavors to be uneven.

The cherry tomato and fava bean bruschetta was delicious and flavorful (despite the appearance of only TWO fava beans on the bruschetta), with the fresh herbs singing through the ricotta spread. The fresh mojitos were the smoothest that any of us had ever tasted - so good in fact, that you almost wondered whether any rum was actually in them since you couldn't detect any alcohol. However, the meyer lemon ailoi that accompanied the crispy asparagus had neither lemon essence nor the garlic flavor one expects with ailoi. Similarly, our salmon was good but the roasted cauliflower cous cous had no cauliflower.

In addition, the small plates weren't just small - they were tiny! Other restaurants that are known for small plates (such as Cha Cha Cha) are typically much more generous with the food for the same - or slightly lower - prices.

The last disappointment was the service. Perhaps our waitress was new, but nothing came out on time or together. Half our table got its drinks first, and then 20 minutes later the rest of the round would appear. We were assured repeatedly that our flat bread was on its way "in the next ten seconds," but it arrived so late that we had already finished all the other plates. And when our bill came, we had been charged for several items - meatballs, halibut, chicken skewers, shrimp - that we hadn't ordered. It took the waitress and a manager at least 25 more minutes to straighten out the bill.

Although the ambiance was lovely, we are unlikely to ever return.

GREAT SPOT ON MY BIRTHDAY

by chadber

Me and a few of my friends decided to go to Medjool this past weekend for dinner. We were seated promtly and were served pretty quickly. The place was packed, so i was expecting our waiter to be a bit slow. He managed to take care of us great! We ended up staying late for the late night dancing and we had a BLAST! Thanks Medjool

mediocre food - worse service

by jgo

Had heard good things about Medjool - althought the chronicle review was not very good, and turned out to be spot on. Some of the dishes were good - the stuffed eggplant and calamari, some were not so good - braised pork loin (tasted like dirty socks) and the meatballs - must have been from out of a can. The service was also lacking at best. My wife ordered the pepper soup and it came without a spoon - and took 10 minutes for our waiter to return with one. The wait staff was also very grabby with our plates, trying to take them away before we had finished. One guy grabbed the special goat cheese salad plate, put his thumb right in the cheese and after noticing that we were displeased, put the dish back on the table - thumb print in the cheese and all - pretty gross. We will not return there for dinner, although the sky deck would be a nice place for a drink before heading next door to Foreign Cinema.

COOL SPOT!

by timjacres

After reading all the reviews about this place. i decided to finally check it out for myself. I think based on the capacity of this place, i think this place is quite good. The only comment that i have was it was a bit too loud to hold a conversation. Our food was very good, a little small on the portions, but overall great flavors! The service was attentive yet not excellent. We were pleased with the ambience and the decor of the place. Our experience on the roof top bar was great. Also a bit crowded on a saturday night. I have read the majority of the reviews on this site, and i have to say they are a bit "too much ". i reaaly enjoyed this place and plan on returning with a larger group

GREAT place to be on a warm sunny day!

by tsimonz

This past weekend the weather was just right to head over to none other than the famous roof top bar at Medjool. I couldn't think of a better place to be this past warm sunny sunday. We arrived in the afternoon around 1:00 p.m. had tons of mojitos and bloody marys, ate some great food and listened to some cool music and it was packed! The service was good and the view was to die for. The only problem i see is that people hover around others and wait for a chair. I think having a hostess would be essential. Can't wait to go back!

Horrible VIP/Bottle Service ever

by juliegiannini

We paid too much for bottle service/VIP lounge area. The areas are used as walkways, the mixers were wrong, the waitress barely checked on us and Andy, the "events" staff person was not responsive nor replied to our email after the booking.. The "waitress" would not take any other drink orders after our bottles were served, she was rude. The mezzzanine area is too crowded, there is NO crowd control and it's hot and stuffy. Th eplace is very fun, but I would NEVER do VIP, bottle service there - it's a complete waste of money!!!

Pros: fun place, friendly crowd

Cons: music and SERVICE

Very Unique!

by tomking

I've been wanting to check this place out for some time. What a great concept! You have it all wrapped up in one very unique retaraunt right here in san francisco. I went there on a friday night and enjoyed it very much. The only thing was that the porions were just a little small, tapas. Very good service and the drinks were were pretty good too. I really loved the ambience of the place especially in the lounge area. We ended up staying there until the music started and enjoyed that as well. We had a great time that night, a bit noisy but overall great experience.

Would never go again - RIP OFF

by dan786

First of all, their website explicitly said no cover on Fridays.. so invite a bunch of my friends and at the door they were charging. We went upto them and mentioned that your website said no cover and the rude bouncer is like oh now we have a DJ and you will have a good time so there is cover. I am like dude you should just not say it on your website if you plan on charging. Then the DJ sucked and bouncers were a bunch of losers being rude to everyone. the only thing good was that drinks were not overprices.. but i would never go there again ..

love this place!

by bdoggie456

I must say i've been hearing the they hype behind this place and it pretty much lived around it. This place is beautiful! The warmth and ambience of the lighting and the colrs mixed in with the hge space is worth a trip alone. I went there with a large group on Saturday night and it was packed!! that would probably be the only downfall. the serbvice was attantive and the food was really good. I especially loved the lamb sirloin with cherries. YUM! After we finished dinner we headed upstairs to the famous roof top bar. WOW! what a sight, it was a little difficult getting drinks though. I had such a good time on Saturday that i took my friends who were visiting from out of town on Monday, less hectic really enjoyable! Since it was a little slower we got excellent attention from the hostess, the bartender, and the staff. My recommendation would be that if you really want to enjpy this place go on a slower time during the week.

Pros: Service

Shady Servers- Don't go here

by amandabrown79

My girfriends and I came to Medjool for drinks and appetizers. The 4 of us were having a pretty decent time chatting and relaxing up there. We were drinking bloody mary's (no vodka specified) and I had a few Tequila and diet, when asked if I wanted Patron I said no thanks. We had been there for a few hours and when it came time to close out our tab our server Mark K, forwarned us that our bill was pretty high and over $200. I was a little offended that he assumed we might not be able to pay for our check. Then I noticed a 20% service charge included on our bill. He did not tell us he had done that and nowhere on their menu does it say an automatic gratuity will be added on parties on 4 or more. All of us work in restaurants in the city and none of us have ever seen an auto grat on a party of 4, or a 20% service charge at that. Upon closer inspection, we notice he has also rung in all premium liquors for our drinks. We had about 19 drinks, so you can imagine how much that added up to. We paid our bill and didn't say anything because we did not want to create a scene, but we all left feeling like we had been taken advantage of. Maybe because we had been drinking so much he was hoping we wouldn't notice the auto grat and try to get a double tip? Who knows, the whole situation was very shady. So now I am going to tell every single person I come across not to go there. Its a shame because it is such a great spot, but with servers like that working the place, it just ruins it. Dont go there- very shady servers!

poor customer service..rude

by tiffers1983

mangement was rude..messed up on our reservation and made it seem like it was our fault. ummm arent we the guests..i work at a restaurant and we never do that to our guests.. the managers were rude from the beginning. we had to wait an extra 30 minutes because they messed up and blamed us. food was good. waitress was nice. bathroom was limited. owners are rude..they kickd my friend out because he wanted to go i nthe elavator and it was "full" which it wasnt. complained to the GM..she didnt care...or was it a he..i dont even know..either way he/she was very NOT accomodating. coat check took like 2 extra hours to open..like at 11:15..UMM yeah and charged 4 dollars per coat..and had no change for $10 and took back our ticket until we can come up with exact change. not organzied...do not ever go there..i know we wont.. i hope they close down because you cant treat your customers like that. all i can say is WOW..if you want to be treated like a decent person..dont go there..otherwise...Go for it!

Pros: 20 of our friends being there

Great place with a group!

by jasper33

We went to Medjool for dinner and drinks on a weeknight for a friend's birthday. We had a huge group, around 16 , and they had our table ready when we got there. The food was great (loved the lamb) and the service was good considering we were a very large group. It was quiet but it was also a Monday night - I would love to go back on a weekend. The food was tastey and the wine selection was decent. Will definitely return.

crowded but fun

by nitemike

I had read a bunch of sour reveiw here before I went for dinner but I was invited for a large party event so I went anyway.
In the end I had a great time. Food was good but a bit on the small side- I guess I'm programed to our super sized nation mind set... We camped out at our table until closing but they didn't seem to mind... we paid our way in bottle service... good music for the dance party which we didn't know they had until all the tables from the main floor disappeared and people were dancing.... some of our friends that came to meet us later that night had to pay $10 to get in which suched but I guess it's free before 11:00... we never made it to the roof I hear it was too crowded... we had a good time right where we were

Really Good Place!

by billtom

I recently had some friends visiting me and wife from boston, and we had decided to go to Medjool, wanted to show them something different and unique. My past experience had been great at medjool, but this time was just right, Since it was a warm day, we decided to go straight to the famous roof top bar and have a few drinks, my friends were amazed how somethi9ng like this was right in the middle of san francisco! we had reservations downstairs in the dining room, but decided to call and cancel them and the hostess was really nice about it! A rarity here in the city. We decided to order food, quite tasty! We had a large skewer sampler, with various kabobs, really good! The only thing though, was that they only take cash, so we had to go downstairs to the atm. Overall great texperience, my friends had a wonderful time.

When will the "small plates" craze die a long-overdue death?

by mghotbi

Prompt seating, attentive service. Interesting space - a cross between industrial chic and North African cozy - great lighting. Nice roof deck bar with views of the Mission and City. Now for the bad news...

Food portions are small, overpriced and tasteless. Middle Eastern sampler was about $2 worth of hummus, baba ganouj and tabouleh - I've had better at a number of small mom and pop Middle- Eastern places all over the city. Pita was not even warmed. Scallops were cold and rubbery - not even cooked to the point of caramelization - which is essential for scallops. Tuna tartare with pine nuts was bland and both it and the scallops could have been a lot fresher.

"Small Plates" restaurants have proliferated in the city. While it was interesting at first, now it's just annoying, with restaurants like this using the theme as an excuse to sell overpriced, bland food. Over $100 for two folks and still hungry. Come on San Francisco, you have so many great choices in this city. Enough!

Overall, a horribly disappointing experience.

Pros: Nice Space, Great Outdoor Roof Deck

Cons: Food is Awful, Terrible Value

Great views, good food, and good crowds

by rakeshtondon

If you're looking for a place to go people watching, this maybe one of the best spots in the city. The panoramic city views makes it one of my favorite spots in the city, and the bartenders are courteous and make great mojitos. Parking can be a hassle, but there is a parking garage close by. I highly recommend the place to any SFer. Have a few mojiots, and enjoy the view!

Great Place!

by billmorris3

I have been hearing about this place for quite some time now both with mixed reviews, mostly good. So, I decided to give it a shot, and i must say i was pretty impressed. Me and my wife visited medjool on a sturday night on a last minute cancellation from another restaraunt. We called late in the evening and we were accomodated pretty quickly. As we walked in, we were both in awe! The space was amazing! We were then seated by a lovely hostess immediately. Our waiter was very friendly and informative since we asked so many questions regarding the items on the menu. The food was great! We especially enjoyed the calamari, and the lamb tagine, sooooo good. This place was packed yet we got the attaention we needed to make our evening enjoyable. We then walked around the place, and checked out the roof top bar. Very nice. They also serve food and drinks on the bar, maybe i'll have to check that out next time. Overall great experience, looking forward to going back with a larger group.

Continuously Good

by kimwang

Me and 3 friends went to Medjool Saturday night, and I must say we had a great time! I had been to medjool several times in the past, but this time was extremley special because it was my birthday so i was looking for a place with good food, drinks, and a gret view of san francisco. The service was was quick and friendly, the food was really good, especially the lamb tagine and the shrimp with tomato jam. After dinner our waiter brought me a bday dessert with a candle, really nice. We then headed up to the famous sky terrace and the weather was just right. Bartenders had suggested that we try a mojito, good stuff!! After about an hour, we headed downstairs and saw that the dancefloor was clear and there was good music playing. Me and my girlfriends were dancing all night. Great place! I will definitely keep going.

Pros: Great Food

Worse Place Ever

by liquidynamics

This is hands down one of the worse place I've ever eaten at in my life. This place is way overhyped. This is not a place for dinner. It's more of a bar/club with food. It's very over priced and the portions are paltry. I've spent $120 for my wife and I were both left hungry afterwards. The service was terrible. During dinner, one of the waiters took one of our tables away saying that the restaurant didn't have enough tables for other guest! Holy cow, we were eating on the table that they took away. We ended up having to put our food on the floor. What kind of restaurant is this??? One would imagine that if you don't have enough tables that you would purchase some more.

Do yourself a favor and save your money and go party somewhere else. There are plenty of great restaurants and bar in San Francisco. This is not one of them.

Pros: Cool evironment

Cons: pricey average food. a big mac would have been more fullfilling

paying for the atmosphere

by carbjunkie

This place is stunning when you first walk in. Enormous ceilings, plenty of tables everywhere, awesome mezzanine. But that's about it. The food was only ok, and the portions were a bit on the small size especially for the price. But the place is so nice that it was easy to forget about how much you are paying for your meal. The wait staff were very nice and always had a smile on their face even through all the chaos of a booked restuarant (it was Friday evening, peak time).

Pros: great ambiance

Cons: parking is horrid, food hardly worth the price

More trendy than tastey

by dinnernightout

Went with a larger group. It was very loud and the service was very slow. Some of the dishes were pretty good but the overall experience left me wanting more.

Cool place, food is okay, parking is difficult.

by nancysee

Ecletic restaurant and hostel. This place is so so spacious that you get kind of confused when you walk in. There are multiple floors to this joint. Of which levels 1, 2 and the top are for the restaurant. The rooftop which is really cool only serves cold plates since there's no kitchen upstairs and serves all beverages. It's nice to be there on a nice night but for those cold nights, I would stick to the first and second floor. It's priced $$. Went here for a friend's birthday party but am interested in going back and trying other plates out. Parking is a challenge and there's no valet service.

Pros: cool ambiance - it's different; fun rooftop bar but gets pretty packed

Cons: parking

Not a great place to eat. Tapas are small dishes, but never seen it this small anywhere else. Prices on the other hand are HUGE! It would, maybe, be worth it if the taste was good? But, not really. Reminds me of cafeteria food I used to get in college. I ordered a Mojito, and there was seriously NO alcohol in there. On top of that, the waitress was rude. She was missing for the most part of the night and makes obvious cringes when we ask her for reasonable service. Unfortunately, we had more than 6 ppl, so she was entitled to 18% tip. I would've given her 18 pennies.

I'd NEVER go there again for food. For dancing, maybe. Order beer for your drink and you'd get atleast 4-5% alcohol. For the price and hype, I expected better food and service, but not a good place at at all. Some ppl said it was romantic in their reviews, but please go somewhere else to save yourselves.

Pros: None

Cons: Poor service, small portions, poor taste

Delicious tapas

by shoegal84

My friend and I recently tried this place out. We were seated pretty promptly (had res.), and although we were seated near the restroom, they kindly sat us somewhere else. The tapas took a bit longer than tapas usually take to get out, but they were delicious. Try the grilled hanger steak, and the brined pork loin. Oh and the spanish cheese platter. I don't even like cheese, yet there were some that i did some damage to :)

The waiter was nice, but didn't come to our table too often. Oh, and if you make reservations try to make them earlier than 9:30 because they start to clear the tables out to make room for the dance floor, and the lights got dimmer and dimmer...until we could hardly see ourselves, much less our food. So we felt a little rushed.

Overall, the food was delicious, the mojitos yummy, and the rooftop deck refreshing...it's worth a trip.

Pros: Food, drinks!

Cons: Super loud music.

I like it

by audreyjl

This place has a great atmosphere and very cool layout. You can relax, dance, drink, party which sure, you can maybe do this at any bar, but this layout gives you so many options. I'd heard a lot about this place and figured it would have been over hyped, but I went and was impressed. I have yet to eat there, only went for drinks but I've heard the foods pretty good too.

Pros: great atmosphere
