I had a terrible experience. AGAIN.
That's right. After a really mediocre meal and non-existent server the first time, I decided to try again. BIG MISTAKE.
Where should I begin. Hostess was rude. Food again was uneventful. Service however, was even worse than the first time. So, I decided to be charitable and give him 10% anyway. BIG MISTAKE.
The waiter took it upon himself to charge my card FRAUDULENTLY, and reward himself with a huge tip.

I live in the neighborhood, and there are way too many options for anyone to take a chance.

ENTER AT YOUR OWN PERIL..
I TOLD YOU SO!!!

I have been to this restaurant twice before and enjoyed it. The food was good and the drinks strong and tasty.
However my last visit, the waiter (plump older guy) was not happy especially when we declined drinks and had iced tea and water. He has waited on me when I have been there before, not a friendly waiter and not too welcoming...sets a bad tone for the meal. In NYC I expect my waiters to have a bit of personality and positiveness if you want me to pay a decent amount of money for a meal...this isn't Mc Donalds so I don't need that barely give a sh*t feeling coming from my server.
My dinner companion had the bacalao which I had before and really liked. His was barely ok, there was a gritty unwashed thing going on with the greens and the slices of purple potatoes were undercooked.
I had the moqueca stew which was DISGUSTING.
Mussels undercooked YUCK!!! and shrimp were too and kind of slimy. The base of the stew was a Brazilian version of some creamy Campbell's soup. It was inedible. At least our waiter had the decency to comp the stew when he saw we barely ate it.
Even though I have had dessert there before, and it was good...we opted out and got carrot cake from the Westway diner..by that point I had enough of over priced poorly executed inconsistent food.
I will probably not go back to eat, it is a bar with food and great atmosphere, but the waiter needs to find a new career and the owner needs to check his chef because in Hell's Kitchen there are plenty of bars and plenty of restaurants...so don't rest on your laurels or you will be out of business.

Pros: Attractive space, good drinks

Cons: Food is inconsistent and can be downright horrible.

The atmosphere and feel of Agua Dulce was very nice. Open layout and perfect place for a nice Friday night dinner. Service was a bit slow, but other than that it was great!

Hell's Kitchen has reinvented itself more than once over the years, but with the arrival of Agua Dulce, it has become a bit more sophisticated. Executive Chef Ulrich Sterling transforms the typical Pan-Latin ingredients to surprise and excite those of us who have sampled the best food in most Latin countries. Chef Ulrich's brunch is the best in the city -- try his take on eggs Benedict that sit atop jalapeno corn bread and shredded pork with "the hollandaise of all hollandaise;" also try the skirt steak on shredded corn tortillas that seem to be soaked in cheese and chili -- amazing. For dinner, try his smoked tea infused short ribs, his take on edamame, and anything else on the menu. The guacamole is, of course, luscious. Don't miss the fabulous cocktails and you will love the setting.

This past October we had my mom's 60th birthday at Agua Dulce. It was the perfect place to have a (surprise) party and I would HIGHLY recommend it.

First of all, I have to commend the whole team on their client-oriented approach. Everyone was invested in making the party a success and went out of their way to help me plan the event (e.g. Ulrich the Chef preparing menu samples, Fernando the Owner / Manager advising on table layout, and Frank the Manager providing overall info and advice). I also really appreciated how special requests (e.g. keeping speakers off in our section, adding ice-cream to one of the desserts) were accommodated; there is even a special request section on the sign-up form.

Second the space is gorgeous. Clearly a lot of attention and detail were put into the build out. The back raised section is a perfect place for a group party. You get a private-like feel while enjoying the dcor and lighting of the main restaurant, aspects which you often have to compromise on with a private room. Plus this space is unique because there is extra room and a lovely couch for mingling (the couch also happens to make a good place to hide behind for guests at a surprise party).

Third the food was excellent. All of the guests gave positive reviews of the food. The menu choices are interesting and very tasty. I even really enjoyed dishes which I typically do not like. The salmon ceviche and arroz con pollo are definite musts. As a special touch, they'll even create special menus for your event with a personalized ??Happy Birthday? note.

The planning and event were incredibly fun and positive experiences from beginning to end. Thank you to everyone at Agua Dulce for making sure everything went smoothly and making us feel really well cared for.

It was a fun night. After a day on the upper west side I ate here with a group of 4 on a Wednesday evening. I loved the atmosphere here! You could definitely feel the Miami vibe once you walked in and I was very impressed. I think they only opened a few months ago.

The Food - Asian/Latin American Fusion I guess? Guacamole, salmon and shrimp were all delicious. They even had pork buns...didn't try it though.

Service - Excellent service. Our waitress was as hot as our food when it came out. Plus she was always easy...to find. She carried those wireless handhelds so you can pay at the table which I loved because I hate it when most waiters disappear with your credit card for a loooong time.

4 Stars only because I can't afford to eat here every weekend but I will definitely be back

What an awesome spot. Nothing like it anywhere in the hood. I've been in four times now, keeps impressing me every time. The staff even remember my slight gluten allergy when I don't! Definitely try the salmon ceviche, and the short rib... two total winners . The soy beans and pork buns on the late night menu are STELLAR! Great snacks before I fall into bed after a long night out. I even eat the steamed bun (although I do have a slight allergy to wheat flour) .

Had a delicious dinner last night, really incredible seviches: share with friends and try them all. I love the stuffed poblano's as a main- a spicy and flavorful vegetarian alternative. I've had those twice now. We also tried the roast chicken-great, and the salmon. Don't miss out on the spicy seared edamame...I could eat several plates of those. Fun, lively with great attentive staff. A new favorite!!!

Went here with friends for dinner and drinks. Love the decor, you can tell they did not spare any expense in the design. Food was reasonably priced for what you get and was delicious, I had a fish entree. Frank, one of the managers came over to our table to make sure we were pleased, great service! We had a great time and will likely be back.

Ninth Avenue is filled with great restaurants these days. I've lived in the neighborhood 20 years now and have watched it change to a fun and great place with lots of wonderful restaurants to choose from. Unfortunately, Agua Dulce isn't one of them. The place looks very very nice, but the food was NOT GOOD. I ordered the watercress salad and did not get watercress but some soggy mixed green salad with a few meager pieces of shaved grana. Not worth $11.
The grilled chicken was tasteless and the salmon was overcooked.
Will not be going back.

I went to Aqua Dulce with my husband a few weeks ago and was very very disappointed:
1. The food was mediocre at best. I understand they put a lot of money into the deco but the food is why I go to any restaurant and it was absolutely nothing special. They are charging prices for great food and the diner down the street is better for the price.
2. Drinks were beautiful, so if you??re not hungry, the perfect place to for cocktails.
3. Another thing that happened was the fact that I saw one of the hostesses was crying. Afterward I overheard the staff say that one of the managers is referred to as "the devil" and likes to harass the staff and make the girls cry. Big problem for me as I don't like to support bullies. Shame on you Aqua Dulce!!!

I went with two of my friends the week it opened. The food was ok. The patatas bravas were the worst - the aoli paprika mayo on top tasted like hair product. When I told one of the managers, he said that "you can't please everyone" and walked away from me shortly after without excusing himself. We also ordered the grilled vegetables which were tasty but needed more crostini to eat it with - three huge piles of diced grilled vegetables with only three small crostini. Salmon ceviche was ok. The grilled chicken with potatoes was probably the best part of the meal, along with the shortribs and yucca fries. We ordered the plantains for dessert which were doused in rum, horrible - and even though we told the waiter we didn't want rum raisin ice cream he brought it anyways. The service was good, the waiter was very helpful and wanted to please. The drinks weren't bad either. The decor and music were good. Might go back to see if they got things together since the opening.

Being from Cleveland I had been quite intrigued by the promotional signs that were posted outside the restaurant while it was under construction. Agua Dulce sounded absolutely brilliant but I wasn't sure what it was... a clothing store, a spa, or a restaurant, until I walked by a few weeks ago and couldn't resist but to go inside.

The decor is absolutely gorgeous!! The colors are very soothing and absolutely relevant to the restaurant's name. Agua Dulce when translated from Spanish to English means "sweet water" but it also means "fresh water," which is probably what the innovators behind this beautiful restaurant wanted to capture not only in its decor but in its fresh, innovative, and delightful menu.

The Latin American food is unbelievable! Really!! I have never been to a restaurant where almost everything I tasted was fantastically delicious! The Spare Rib is to die for!! It melts off the bone and it guarantees a party in your mouth! I recently had the Skirt Stake, which is recommended medium rare and I couldn't have agreed more! Skirt Steak is normally very thin and overcooked by many, but Agua Dulce managed to perfect this traditional Spanish dish! I've also tried the Arroz Con Pollo, which is quite delicious as well. I've also had the Guacamole as an appetizer, which was delicious for Latin American.

The desert menu was short and sweet. I have tried all three desert options: The Plantain and Ice Cream combo sounds good if only it had been done with the ripe plantains and not the green ones, as the ripe ones become caramelized when cooked and the green plantains do not and are not sweet at all making it a bad combination with the delicious ice cream. The Chocolate Lava Cake is a bit too rich and the ginger chocolate sauce is a bit too spicy and definitely wish it had ice cream to offset the chocolate's richness and the spiciness of the chocolate sauce. The newly added Flan and Ice Cream was delicious, although quite tiny; if only they upped it's size just a little bit, it would not only look better on the plate but also it would make diners feel they're getting their money's worth.

In regards to drinks, I tried their Frozen Mojito, which sounds extremely refreshing and it was. Can't quite describe its taste because it wasn't quite sour, yet it was a bit bitter. I have a feeling it was the rum used, but I dont know. The other refreshing drink on the menu is the Frozen Pomegranate Margarita, which was very tasty, but COME ON... how original is that?? They need to perfect the Frozen Mojito, and make it their signature drink! The drink menu needs to be a bit more innovative!

During my last visit, I told my waiter about my experience with the Plantain and Ice Cream, and he told me that it must have been a mistake because the Chef assured him that they normally only use ripe plantains for this dish. The waiter also informed me that the owners are working on perfecting the menu, so I am hopeful they will take into account what Latin American food enthusiasts have to say. WINK WINK.

The first thing that impresses upon you when you walk in is how delectable and darn groovy the interiors at Agua Dulce are. Its like a miniature Delano in the middle of 9th Ave. They've clearly spent a pretty penny or two on the interiors, which are beautiful (think clear perspex chairs, oversized lamps, velvet padded banquettes). The menu is small (possibly 5 apps, 5 mains, 3 desserts) but perfectly formed and I'm still dreaming about the ceviche and the chocolate cake with chilli sauce. DELIGHTED that something like this has opened up in Hells Kitchen as its unlike anything else like it. Did I mention the music? Marvelous! Heavy on the brazilian music, fab sound system. Our waitress was lovely (but learning!), same with the rest of the staff. Very sweet over all. Loved it! We'll be back.

Pros: Beautifully styled, Ceviche App was mouthwateringly good

Cons: As this has just opened, service is still learning
