This place is wonderful. There is so many GREAT foods I mostly liked the spagetti with marinara sauce and chicken, french fries, new york steak, and a great deal of fish n chips.
The resturant is also clean and a nice view too espically upstairs. The club is great on saturday nights.

most dissapointing yet
by hungrygalincal
where do I begin, my elbows stuck to the bar, although the chicken tenders were good, there was barely anything on the plate, no french fries or anything to go with it. for 13.00. the drinks with the wilted celery were 12.00 and the glasses were not even full! there was not much to the fish and chips either. the place did seem shady. when we recieved the bill we had to call over our server because we could not believe it was so much. very very dissapointing. the more i think about it, the angrier i get. i feel like we were ripped off!
Pros: chicken tenders were good
Cons: not enough for the money

So I wanted to surprise my boyfriend and had a romantic getaway from the routine... so I took him to the anglers choice a sunday evening , and sat just in front of th emarina, eating with the candle lights on ! he loved it! and his food as well. He had the salmon broiled,, they are so nice that they can do it blackened or charbroiled as well, plus it brings with a side and warm bread. Me, I wanted to go for shrimp so I had the brochette shrimp, it also came with the side and the warm bread, it was just unbelivable!! so yummy! we had some white wine, the meal was perfect. for dessert we each had a piece of cheescake nicely decorated with fanned strawberries! 5 stars to the aNglers! great service too! The price was reasonable with the food and the view!

Happy hour by the marina!
by Angilucky
I went to Marina del Rey for the first time , and me and my girlfriend were looking for some chill spot to hang out and eat something light while enjoying the view of the marina. So... there werent a lot of choices , mexican, italina, the same thing! until we found this seafood place. happy hour was going on so we obviously decided to stay . We had the most awesome pina coladas ever, coronas, and patrons for half the price,,, plus declicious coconut shrimp, zucchini strips, and chicken tenders, for half the price as well, It was about $ 25 per person... I really enjoyed it!

My girlfriend and I decided to go to this place after been craving for sea food for about a week, and we made the right choice!! We arrived at The Angler's Choice at 4pm which happens to be happy hour time! Everything goes 1/2 off including appetizers and alcoholic beverages. To me this sounds so great because it's the only place in the Marina that does this kind of deal! After having a delicious order of fried zuccini and fried clams, we ordered one of the specialties: crab legs with garlic shrimp (jumbo). The crab legs had enough meat for two people, and it was cooked in a juicy sauce. We were later invited to the club upstairs where they showcase the best gogo dancing, and international music. We didn't stay for the club but it has an amazing view of the marina just like the downstairs restaurant
Pros: great view

I'm loving this place!
by paulthornz
Oh my God!!!! I looks like finally the good times are rolling back in the marina. I hadn't been in this area for quite a long time, let's just say over ten years, and I had the chance to visit with my brother (we've been living in New Mexico ) and we decided to try this place. I wasn't really hungry so I only ordered the clam chowder, (prepared by their own chef), but I really couldn't contain myself once I saw my brother's dish. His salmon, that came accompanied with fresh sauteed veggies, with a side of coleslaw was to die for!! He had his cajun and it was good, but later I went for my very own dish of salmon and I got in charbroiled. It seems like this places specializes on only serving the freshest fish as the waiter told me that they only sell wild catch. This to me is so fascinating as the only place in NM that would provide this kinda fish is so out of my way!!!!
I'll come back this weekend for more salmon if time allows!
Pros: Great Salmon, and beautiful waitresses

Great place for fish and chips!
by franm
The fish and chips are something to die for! Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I haven't had a meal like this in a long time. My kids liked it, and my husband who isn't a big seafood enthusiast was also satisfied! Our waiter was really professional, and made sure that our food was ready on time (as we were on our way to LAX), once again a great great night for us!
Pros: nice view
Cons: none

Delicious Crab Legs!!!
by thomas4ags
Last night, I was driving down back from Hermosa Beach and I stopped at this family style restaurant. Being from New Zealand, I am used to the freshest seafoods that you can ever imagine and at this place, the food came pretty close to what I am used to. My meal consisted of a bowl of clam chowder and as the main course, crab legs. My crab legs were fantastic and it excedeed my expectations. My waitress, although she was very busy, she was able to take care of me as she refilled my glass more than 4 times. She was always smiling and a good conversationist. Then, I was offered to try their cheesecake and tiramisu and I have to admit that their cheesecake creamy and delicious. I plan to take my family to this restaurant next week. Two thumbs up to you Angler's Choice!

They have killer bloody mary's and margheritas!! Plus a live band comes on the weekend and plays outside, we rented bikes rode from Manhattan beach to there went straight to the bar from 4-6 they have a happy hour where half price off of all appetizers and drinks make it ahrd to leave.. all while watching a beautiful sunset. the oysters were fresh and served with all the condiments you could ask for. Sweet servers and overall amazing experience!

Delicious Sea Food
by gauchoo
If you ever find yourself in Marian del Rey then you must go to this place. I am not a big sea food fan but I have to admit that the food here is delicious. I would recommend ordering the Cam Chowder as a starter, and as an entree the Sea Bass. Our waiter was always asking if we needed anything. Refills are free which is good on a sunny day, and the view is fantastic!! Tomorrow I'll be attending a party at Club Narain, which can be resrved for private parties. I'm totally having my engagement party at this place because of the good hospitality and awsome view!!!!

Great Clam Chowder!
by DarkLotus
My friend and I dropped in last Saturday night after work. The service was good, I must say I was happy with the way we were treated. I had ordered their clam chowder which turned out to be delicious and worth the price. I would definitely come back, maybe next time I'll order their swordfish.

One of the best in Marina Del Rey.
by Manuel2009
I wanted to comment after I read all the bad reviews for this great place.
I was here during the Boat Show, the best ocean view without a question.
The waiters were very attentive, provided everything I asked for and a timely matter.
Yes, the food took a little bit, but it was worth the wait, the food was very fresh and testy.
After the boat parade the DJ played @ Narain Club until 2:00 am. Playing international music and being open to any kind of music we requested. We had a great time.
I?ll come back for New Year?s Eve party that?s for sure.
Pros: Great Ocean View / And Fresh Food
Cons: Busy During Special Events, reserving a table in advance will save you headaches,

Absolutely terrible - one of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten in my life
by azurie
This place was sooooooo horrible. We thought it looked cute for dinner near the water. It has a nice looking menu and high priced entrees. It's dirty and old inside and you get like paper napkins and to walk all the way upstairs to a grimey bathroom. The waiter ignored us almost the entire time and was rude, we seriously wanted to leave without paying but didnt. The food was probably the worst food I have ever gotten in a restaurant, EVER. the fish was like frozen, microwaved dinner white fish and the vegetable side was a bunch of boiled PEPPERS. not the normal broccoli or pototoes, but peppers. like from a 99 cent freezer bag. the soup was okay but cold. it was a freezing day and they had the door wide open and we kept asking to close it and they said they couldnt it was broken or something. then the huge bill came and it was wrong and had some other table's drinks and stuff on it.
we still laugh about that meal to this day and now when we make a mistake call it an "Angler's Folly."
Pros: Disgusting, bizzare food, terrible service, dirty and ugly
Cons: we got a funny joke out of the experience

PLEASE do NOT eat here!!!
by cavisitor
This was the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. We went on the 4th of July, as first time visitors to CA. This was the last night of our vacation, and we were looking forward to a nice relaxing seafood dinner, followed by fireworks. NOT! There were so many warning signs that we ignored: a "special" menu for the holiday with limited entrees, notices that there was a $25 minimum per person that day, and a note that the restaurant was not responsible for anyone getting ill from their shellfish...SERIOUSLY? Squeezed in, plastic tableclothes, not what I was expecting for our bill that would evidently be over $100 plus tip for our party of 4. But we ordered: while our meal was to include bread and a vegetable (no salad, and no drink refills), after waiting nearly 30 minutes, we still had no bread. I asked the waitress, who said that bread came with the meal. Not wanting to cause her more problems, we said we'd wait. An hour after placing our orders, one dinner arrived, and it was cold. We waited another 10 minutes, and then were told that they were out of what I had ordered. Are you kidding?! Over an hour after it is ordered, and you just find out now? This was so completely unacceptable, I asked to speak to the owner, just knowing that he too would find this unacceptable and strive to "make things right". Nothing could be further from the truth! He arrived at our table, took one look at our video camera sitting there (turned off with the lens cap on, as we had been videoing the harbor earlier) and completely FREAKED OUT! He refused to speak to us completely, and stormed off, even though we immediately put the camera away. Needless to say, we were done and left, trying to warn other potential patrons on our way out. This was absolutely the worst restaurant I have ever been to and it needs to be shut down. Cannot stress enough how bad this place it. PLEASE do NOT go there!!! One star rating is too high for this place!
Pros: View if seated outside
Cons: Absolutely everything else!!

Worst restaurant
by smonica
Beer was flat even in the can. Waited 30 minutes for that! Exchanged for bottles. Waited another 30 minutes for food. Fried clams were overcooked and fried oysters literally fried to a crisp! cole slaw was sliced cabbage with mayonaise. overcooked carrots and peppers for a vegetable. Dry lettuce and a sorry slice of tomato. Bill over $50 for lunch! Stay away!

by gumerccindo
great place if you are looking to eat clam chowder!!! The owner is a kind Egyptian man who will make sure that everything is just right for you. Findind a good place for sea food can be hard, but here the food is deliciously made!!
Pros: If u go at this time of the year you'll find pretty waitresses
Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE

Avoid at all costs!
by buenappetite
We went for Hour Hour and the laughs were on us!
Paid $42 for greasy, over-fried frozen food----5 small calamari rings, 5 cocunut shrimp, 5 tempura shrimp, -----a domsetic beer, and a Bloody Mary sans celery stick.
This does not include the order of steamed clams in "brown sauce" that smelled like feces! (Sent back w/o charge.) In hind sight, I guess it was our fault for ordering them since a warning sign did appear right on the menu: "The Angler's Choice is not responsible for any side effects that may result from eating oysters, clams, or any other shell fish. You will be eating them at your own risk." Keep in mind this is a seafood restaurant in Marina del Rey,CA.... not a coffee shop in the midwest.
Could have been worse. Had we ordered 30 minutes later, the bill would have jumped to $84.
If in the area during Happy Hour, we suggest going next door to El Torito.
Pros: marina view,
Cons: food quality, price

Worst restaurant in LA?
by jenbrennan
My husband and I thought that this restaurant might, though it looked like a total dive, be an ok place to have an ok seafood meal. Unfortunately, it was quite possibly the worst meal we have ever had. The clam chowder was inedible. The scallops were small, possibly undercooked, and covered with half a bottle of what appeared to be Prego spaghetti sauce. The fish and chips were so beyond deep fried that the insides had practically been liquified. Our only consolation was to drink lots of beer and try to find some humor in the situation. Our poor fellow diners seemed as depressed as we were with just how bad the experience was. Avoid this place at all costs.
Pros: An ok view of the marina
Cons: Everything else

Best new nightclub
by john90292
A group of friends and I went to the club last night (Club Narain) located above the restaurant. Apparently it's now under new management and by the sound of it they've really turned the place around. They opened for a couple days to "test the waters," but their grand opening is next Friday. Anyway, we all had a great time. They've got their own registered cocktail called The Angler's Hanky Panky which looked at little expensive ($17), but when it came you could see why. If you can finish one, you'll be good for the night. The view, service, atmosphere were all great.

this place is the absolute worst place to eat in the world
by booky
when you walk in to the place there are flies all around the door. then you walk in and wait to be greeted but they dont have anyone there. you sit at a booth and prey that some server feels sorry for you and takes your order. the manager or owner is yelling at every employee there with a lit cigarette in his mouth. 20 minutes after sitting down the bartender looked at us and felt bad so he took our order. 1 hour later we get fish and chips and some kind of crab leg. the crab leg cost like 40 dollars. it was insane. not to sound cheap but they even charge for refills of soda. im serious. there menus look like old elementary school binders. while we were there the same cd played over and over. when we got the bill it was hand written. they didnt even have a real register. the bill was incorrect so the bartender gave it back to the owner or manager. apparently he does all the checks on a calculator and by hand. the dont even have a freakin register. i dont understand how this place was still in business. we honestly felt terrible for all of the employees there. the absolute worst restaurant i have ever been to. aside from being mugged i cant imagine having a worst experience. of course after paying the bill i felt like i had been robbed.
Pros: on the marina. friendly and sympathetic servers
Cons: food, managment, service

Please don't waste your money like I did
by julesf402
I also wondered how this place stays in business. I guess it's by charging 20 bucks for watery frozen fish. The decor of this restaurant is very "grandmother's trailor" - tacky. Gold spray painted roses on the table - nuff said. The food is awful. We both ordered blackened fish (we were on the water, wanted fresh seafood). The seafood was not blackened. It was swimming in a pile of water and a lot of grease, garnished with lettuce and tomato hamburger style? Service was fine. Drinks were fine. But this place is ugly, overpriced, and the food sucks. If you are looking for traditional seafood by the beach, go anywhere else but here.
Cons: Food, Price, Decor

How do they stay in business?
by babyblue1070
I agree with all the ppers. I took my parents there b/c we happened to be in the Fisherman's Village. It was so overpriced, the food was scant and not good, and the service was SLOOOOOW (and we didn't all get our food at the same time). When we complained, we got an indifferent apology and that was it.
Pros: On the water-thats it
Cons: food, service, price

The worst restaurant I have ever been to!
by robynb7777
I ate here for 4th of July last year and it was the worst food and service I have ever experienced. It took us 45 minutes to get our drinks and about 1 and 1/2 hours to get our food. Once we got the food it was terrible and there wasn't much of it. It was also way overpriced. I will never go back again and warn anyone else not to go.
Pros: none
Cons: expensive, bad food, bad service

DO NOT EAT HERE
by ijl97
I can honestly say that the cheeseburger i ordered here was among the worst burgers i have ever had - anywhere. i think it was from the frozen foods section of the local supermarket. two disgusting patties piled on top of each other with some kind of cheese concoction barely melted over one of them. i literaly took one bite and never touched it again. The server was slow and clueless. If not for the outside table, view of the marina and the cold beer, i may have actually left without paying.
Pros: nice view, no wait
Cons: terrible food, overpriced

Just 'cause its in the marina...
by tgreathead
...doesn't mean its good seafood. My wife and I went for out anniversary tonight thinking we'd try out that 'nice place we saw in the marina.' The pace was EMPTY our entire visit. We ordered a calamari appetizer which appeared to be freezer-fresh with circles so die-cut we thought they were onion rings. All the fish entrees did not list what seasonings were used so I asked the water how the 'broiled' fish was served. "Well, its cooked in water." Next our garlic bread arrived. Or rather, the burnt toast with garlic sprinkle arrived. Finally (after almost 40 minutes) our fish arrived. We were actually surprised that my wife's salmon was very good. My char-broiled Ahi was alright. Overall our meal with 2 glasses of wine ($3.50 each) our meal totaled $68!!!! Needless to say we will not be going back.
Pros: parking validated, no reservation needed
Cons: boring food, helpless waiter

Go to El Torito instead
by breddogg
Thats what we should have done... All four of us had a different piece of fish at dinner, but all came out cooked the same way--Bad. The portions were small, the fish was tough or undercooked, and the prices HIGH... If you are going to drop this kind of cash go to the Warehouse restaurant on Admiralty Way... If you want to eat seafood, go get a fish filet from Macdonalds, its better quality and definately a better value. But the waitress was a nice girl.
Pros: lots of open seating
Cons: , uncreative cuisine, poor quality
