All bagels and danishes are hand rolled and baked fresh each morning. The bagel dough is aged overnight and is prepared using a combination of boiling and baking for an authentic East Coast taste. Roland's Bakery also offers a variety of fine breads, layer cakes, whip creams, fruit pies, tarts, eclairs, turnovers, canolis, cream puffs and scones. Roland's Bakery specializes in custom cakes for all occasions. Need a snack after a late night out? No problem. Roland's Bakery is open until 2am Thursday through Saturday.

If there was ever a bakery that belonged in the roughneck Lower Haight, it's this one: spray-paint signage, open till 2am and run by an affable, "Sopranos" extra from Jersey. Mornings are calm and sunny here, and there are a few blond wood tables to lay your paper out on, but the east coast-style baking is the main event here: hand-rolled specialty bagels are made fresh daily in-house, pastries like cinnamon melt-aways and nut-covered buns (all referred to by the proprietor, east coast-style, as "danish"), and some less notable muffinry. The other plus here is the outdoor seating, which even with just two tables is a first on lower Haight Street, and the coffee, which is nothing special in itself, but has got to be just about the last $1 cup in San Francisco.Key Points

I went to Roland's Bakery one day after work! I had a sweet tooth so i ordered a danish. The flavor was more than I expected and it was very fresh and soft!
