The origins of this club are with tennis but today it is sold and marketed as an all round club. In a management change awhile ago I noticed a change in the management philosophy that drives and shape the organization. Many unique and pleasing aspect of the original club still remain: Kids club, great long term staff and the ability to ride, walk and borrow snow shoes in the winter. But at its heart it is now corporation wanting to make money. I feel the accountants and financiers now rule this company, if follow all the rules and don??t complain, and bend your needs to theirs, no problem. But on all these counts I have found the management, policies and desire to make the customer happy is severely lacking.
E-mailed networking (bring a friend) regular and often? a staff manager who answers the phone (do not screen their call) harder to find.
Sales is charming? accounting is sour.
Marketing promotion plentiful, itemized invoices or kids parties or foods your way? No way.
And if you cancel? don??t be a day late? they don??t do refunds?
In short: My family used to look forward to multiple weekly trips to this gym, now I have mainly a sour taste of unreturned voicemail, blunt rudeness and a lament of a club I used to love?

While this gym may have originally been designed as a tennis club, the fact is that most people join to work out. The work out space is small, especially considering that this is a suburban location. The trainer in charge has lots of rules, the woman who runs the kids pool is nasty and the food at the cafe is pretty bad. The people who work there are nice- and the people who clean try and do the best they can. the locker room gets hot in the summer, cold in the winter- maybe because they never put in a door to the back hallway

The club is meant to be a tennis club and not a fitness club. The fitness came after the tennis did. Basically it was created so people would have a place to play tennis in the harsh chicago winters.

I have been a member since October 2008. In general, it is a very nice club-
the positives:
friendly front desk people
clean locker room
excellent cycling staff
helpful weight staff

the negatives:
small- the trainers use the running track for many of their routines creating an unsafe, perhaps even dangerous, route for any of those brave enough to run the track
small indoor pool- what else can i say?
a handful of very good cardio instructors
1-2 really good trainers

it feels like this was built to be a tennis club but then they added a lot of equipment to cater to those who exercise and have created a gym that is very dense with equipment and members...

... and swimming of course.
We play tennis, my husband and i work out while the kids are watched. I go there 3 times during the week and once per weekend. Great machines and equipment. used to be a bally's member, but this is so much more welcoming and warm than the big corporate gym's. We have met many new friends here as well!
Price is not bad at all for what you get.
