Ghetto? Not at all! Try pretty amazing...

by Jennifer S.

The Anonymous review I have just read is nothing more than a frustrated man who didn't get what he wanted. My husband and I moved here from Maryland last August and absolutely love it here. Everyone is extremely friendly. I have never felt more safe in a community in all of my apartment experiences. Everyday I see children playing outside in the grasses, people walking their dogs and the gorgeous views of the mountains and lake Washington which is why we are on a hill duh!. It is perfectly located between Seattle and Bellevue, and you could walk/ride a bike to the amazing dog park/shopping. The main highway is hidden from sight and is also within a miles distance...this guy had no idea what hes talking about. This is truely a beautiful well kept community that provides all of the essentials with a bit of luxury. The process of getting the apartment was a bit of a pain, but completely worth it. He has not a CLUE what a ghetto is obviously because this is by far a wonderful place to live. I mean, all the appliances are brand new when we moved in but if we needed something fixed they replaced it immediately with another brand new appliance. And to top it off, i have never had to park anywhere besides outside my front door, unless I come in a 2 in the morning and than oh no...i have to walk 5 cars down....geez haha! So please...dont listen to frustrated people, It makes me think ill of people like him when he tries to ruin it for others. See for yourself.

**** BEWARE: Mercer Island Ghetto ****

by Anonymous

When I was relocating to Seattle I fell in love with Shorewood Heights. Not knowing the area too well, I fell in love with the manicured lawns and pretty northwestern shingled apartments. I quickly signed a lease and flew back home to pack.

A couple days later the sales lady Cathy Cooper called me and asked me to push my move in date to a later date as the person currently residing in the unit decided to stay longer. Annoyed I said sure.

A week later, Cathy called me again. This time she said she had good news and bad news for me. The bad news was the person who currently resides in the unit I signed the lease for has decided to renew their lease. The good news was there was another unit available for a slightly higher fee (an extra $100).

The news came two weeks before my planned to move to Seattle. My initial trip to secure housing in the area cost me $2000. I was getting very irritated and turned off at the trashy way they ran their business.

Anyways, to make a long story short, Cathy pressed me to sign a new lease - which I didnt. I had to write several letters to the property management company and Cathys manager to get my deposit refunded.

After residing in the Mercer Island/Seattle for a bit now, I have come to realize what a trashy place and location Shorewood Heights is. It is a bit ghetto.

The compound is located up a steep hill (not good when it rains or snow), most of the buildings are not secured, there are two main garbage bins (this means walking a block or more to toss garbage), not easily accessible from the highway or to shops, very dark roads to access at night, parking is scarce and its not worth it for the price!
