In Short
This may be one of those only-in-L.A phenomena that makes this city great (or terrifying, depending on your perspective). The latest outdoor "mall" from infamous developer Rick Caruso puts his first project, the Grove, to shame. First off, there are the stores: Juicy Couture, Anthropologie, Martin + Osa, Kira Plastinina, H & M, Stuart Weitzman, Tiffany--it's practically retail heaven. Then there's the food, from fine dining (yummy Katsuya and Frida) to casual fare (Pinkberry and the retro-fabulous Jewel City Diner). And let's not forget the oversized Pacific Theatres, with 18 screens and stadium seating, and the roped-in playground replete with slides and a central water fountain. Play on, Angelenos!

Key Points

  • Boutiques & National Retailers
  • Outdoor Shopping Community
  • Family-Friendly Ambiance

The Inside Scoop

  1. Parking - The Americana does have dedicated parking, but it's cheaper to park at the meters on the side streets off of Brand.
  2. The Extras - Want to be able to wake up and walk to Barnes and Noble or H & M? Check out the Americana's luxurious condos for sale.
  3. Fun Fact - Kids will go gaga for the old-fashioned trolley that runs through the Americana.

AMAZING PLACE, CANT WAIT TO SEE IT GROW

by DANDANTHEMAN

ALTHOUGH THE CROWD IS NOT ALWAYS GLITZ AND SOPHISTICATION< THE AMERICANA NEVER FAILS TO MEET MY NEEDS, URBAN OUTFITTERS HAS SAVED ME MANY TIMES WHEN I WAS IN NEED OF A QUICK RETAIL THERAPY MOMENT AND BARNEYS .... IS GOD SENT
THE ED HARDY CROWD ROLLS THROUGH EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE BUT I HAVE HIGH HOPES THAT THE BRAND AND THOSE STORES WILL DISAPPEAR OFF THE FACE OF THIS EARTH
THE J CREW, MARTIN AND OSA, LACOSTE, XXI AND H&M ARE THE MOST POPULAR STORES
MARTIN AND OSA IS A PLEASANT SURPRISE
WE OFTEN REFER TO KATSUYA AS THE BEST SUSHI IN GLENDALE... ITS NOT THE ONLY ONE, THERE ARE ALOT ... BUT ITS THE BEST SUSHI IF YOURE CRAVING A NIGHT OUT... DEFINATLEY THE BEST COCKTAILS...
I CANT WAIT TO WATCH THE AMERICAN EXPAND ... IT NEEDS TO GROW... MORE RETAIL AND MORE RESTERAUNTS... IT NEEDS AN ANCHOR STORE BECAUSE KITSON DIDNT DO THE JOB... HOPEFULLY A SAKS OR NEIMANS!
THE MALL CANT COMPETE- IVE SPOTTED SEVERAL CELEBRITIES THERE AND TO MY SURPRISE THEY KEEP COMING BACK
THEY SHOULD INCORPORATE MORE NIGHTLIFE AS WELL BUT ITLL ALL HAPPEN IN DUE TIME.....
OVERALL , IT BASICALLY SAVED THE CITY OF GLENDALE

Pros: BARNEYS NEW YORK

Cons: ED HARDY

From What I Can See, I Like!

by vivaciousdivah

Lovely...simply lovely!!! The Americana is very very similar to the Grove, I am almost sure it is owned by the same company. I do believe the Americana may be bigger than the Grove with more amenites such as on-site luxury residences that enclose the mall...different and enchanting. There are many restaurants there including the Cheesecake Factory. The movie theater is high in price like the Grove around $13 to view a show, however, they seem to have later showtimes. There are alot of stores unique to this location like the Kitson store, Marciano, and Martin + Osa.

The Grove, But Bigger, In Glendale

by westsidegal78

If you love The Grove, you'll really love Americana at Brand. Lots to see, good people watching, great shopping... Plus I like the views of Glendale from the parking structure. There is nothing like this east of LA. I recommend.

Pros: Shopping, Food, Fountains, Trolley, Kids Play Area

Cons: Hot, You have to pay for parking (BUT, fun to see all the elevator operators and big lobby)

LOVE IT

by shopgirl44444

The Americana at Brand is my NEW favorite stop to shop and hang in Glendale. Amazing stores - Barneys CO-OP, Juicy Couture and H &M! Amazing resturants - Katsuya and Frida Mexican Cuisine (of Beverly Hills)! Plus the watershow isn't too shabby. I'm coming back next weekend...
