The teachers are decent but they seems too overwhelmed by the number of kids everytime I visited the place. Not recommended!

I agree with Jim that all the reviews are true but Janet B., but that is my opinion. Actually, my daughter started off in Ms.Jovanna's class and always welcomed her with a smile and made sure she knew how my daughters morning was. I trusted Ms.Jovanna with my child and really appreciated her communication skills and her warm personality. I have had Ms. Jovanna babysit a few times as well and the experience has been great. The classroom is full of color and I enjoy seeing my child's artwork on Fridays. I was sad to hear that Ms. Jovanna was leaving the center to start a new carrier and family but know my daughter will be just as happy with Ms.Mimi who she is now with and whom we adore.

Cons: I feel that the commuication with the director/assistant director needs to be better with the teachers so they can inform the parents better of what is going on. Although, it has been getting better now.

I just read all of these reviews and I agree with most of them. In contrast to what Janet B. wrote, I find the whole San Mateo Kindercare experience fantastic. My daughter absolutely loves Miss Katty and Miss Mimi. I find the management most informative. Miss Anna always gives me the straight scoop of what's happening and usually will remind me of upcoming events. She greets everyone with a warm, cheery smile that can't help but make any parent feel at home. The meals are nutritious and the balance between instruction, nap time, and play time is spot on. The late night program is a great way for us parents to take a deep breath and enjoy each other. For my daughter's well being and early education, there isn't any other school I'd feel comfortable enrolling her in other than San Mateo Kindercare.

My daughter started in the toddler class at this Kindercare in August 2007. The first week she was there, the teacher, who has since that time quit, informed me when I arrived in the afternoon to pick my daughter up that she had let my daughter sleep through a two hour nap with poop in her diaper. When she woke up there was redness so the teacher applied Desitin (which belonged to another child.) My daughter is allergic to Desitin which is why I had not left a cream there. By the time I got her home her bottom was so red and inflamed that I had to put her in a warm tub (doctor's advice) just so she could pee. Nothing was really done when I informed the school, although they agreed that was against school policy. Then when I asked repeatedly for my 19 month old daughter's apples and oranges to be peeled, I continually showed up seeing her struggling with her fruit - peel on. This is a choking hazard for babies!!! The school refuses to buy organic. Even though I brought my daughter's own organic milk from home for her to drink, it was not always used, I know by how many times I picked up a full carton in the fridge at the school in the mornings. Now the school is covering up a story for a month about a young man who attempted to talk to the children and hand them gum through the fence at the school. They say he is no harm, however it turns out he lives across the street from the school and is schizophrenic, based on information from a police investigation which was also covered up by the school. The police were even brought in to talk to the children about it yesterday without parental consent. Well the worst part is how the school has tried to hide the whole thing from the parents. What else have they hidden??? When I showed up two days ago a photographer was in the school selling pictures taken two weeks prior, in addition to the regular school pictures being sold the same day. The horrible part of this is that the parents nor the teachers weren't told in advance that this photographer would be in the school, dressing the children in costumes and taking the pictures, then coming into the school selling the pictures for a much higher price than regular school pictures. In fact the parents were never informed until arriving at school and being confronted with a new expense. When I questioned this event my daughter's teacher Miss Jovanna lied right to my face and told me the pictures were taken prior to my daughter starting in her two year olds class in January, while the assistant director, Miss Anna sat and lied to my face and told me there had been a small sign posted to let parents know this group was going to be in the school. The woman selling the pictures is the one who actually stated she was in the school only two weeks prior on Feb. 21st. When I went into the director's office and confronted her on what was being told she admitted the school NEVER advised the parents that this was taking place. No sign as Miss Anna had lied. I removed my daughter from the center the next day (yesterday.) If they lied this much, what else have they lied and covered up while taking care of my daughter. I do not recommend this school, and in fact am asking the San Mateo County Child Care Council to investigate their facility.

I have recently put my three year old son in the Kindercare Center in San Mateo. We love it. I have looked at so many places and they did not even compare to this school. The hours are great and the teachers are wonderfully warm and attentive. I tend to be one of those "first time mom's", who ask a million questions and call three times per day, just to make sure he is ok. The directors never seem bothered by me calling and they always address all my concerns. There meals are healthy, not the normal mac and cheese kind of meals you see every where else. The price was a little bit higher than some of the schools we looked at, but they are well worth it.

I was pretty lucky to find this place because I'd been looking everywhere for a decent preschool for my 4 year-old. The KinderCare staff has been great overall. My son seemed to jump right in to the class and and really loves it.

KinderCare is a great value for the price because other preschools charged more for fewer included services. The meals for the kids are included at KinderCare but weren't at some schools I'd checked who had shorter hours and charged more.

    ***
Don't make a U-turn on Wayne. I think it's a favorite ticketing spot for SMPD because so many parents do so.

    PROS: Great value
CONS: Parking at peak pickup/drop off times can get tricky but never terrible

Kindercare is great, Miss Jovanna and Jasmine are great teachers, very caring and wonderful with the kids. They keep you posted on what your child has done and they adjust to what the child likes.

my son has been attending kindercare for almost a month now, and it has been wonderful seeing him grow from kindercare's nurturing environment. the staff is so warm and friendly, and the center is situated in a great little area in a nice neighborhood. it is located close to a whole food and various restuarants. (my husband and son walked to pasta pomedoro after school one day!) my son loves his teachers, especially miss jovanna and miss jasmine, and always gives them hugs and kisses before we go home. we feel like he's learned so much, even though he's only part-time for now. i rave about the school to other mommies and a couple have enrolled their children too!

PROS: In house kitchen for meals and snacks! Wonderful Staff
    CONS: Small toddler classrooms
