.

After incurring a stress fracture in my foot, I sought treatment from Dr. Magur. Aside from having very poor bedside manner-- being very rushed, offering terse, uninformative answers to my questions-- he appears in retrospect to have been a shill for a medical device scam. Dr. Magur fitted me with a shoddy boot made by DJO, LLC, which fell apart after 3 weeks. Additionally, he pressured me to get a bone-growth stimulator by the same company, despite the lack of scientific evidence to support their use. DJO proceeded to misrepresent the cost of the device to both myself and my insurance company, trying to scam me out of $2,000 for a small plastic battery operated device. DJO has nearly 50 complaints filed against it through the Better Business Bureau. After several months of failed treatment, I went to a foot specialist at Georgetown University Hospital's Foot and Ankle Center. I saw Dr. Francis McGuigan, who answered all of my questions quite thoughtfully , gave me a lightweight low-cost boot, and had my foot healed within a few weeks.
