If you are at all into survival gear and have tried the other places in the South Bay and not been here yet you are missing out. Sometimes can finds stuff that is not available at the bigger supply store in Gardena (Ill leave them nameless!). So if survival is your thing, try this place

This supply store has all of the survival gear you will ever need. They sell the usual camoflauge clothes, food, camping gear, etc. It will take awhile to browse thru their aisles. The prices are moderate.

Since I'm a student living in an expensive city on a tiny stipend, I make use of a lot of military surplus stores for clothing, supplies, etc. I like the Supply Sergeant because it is very well organized (no "miscellaneous" bins) and they have a lot of new merchandise available. Because they seem to focus on new items, though, they don't seem to have as much actual military surplus as some other places. That means, of course, that you won't wind up with a pair of shredded pants from the Norwegian navy ca. 1941, but it also means fewer ultra-cheap or unusual items (don't YOU want a Soviet periscope case? What about that 50-cent German knit sweater that looks like it survived a blitzkrieg?).
Supply Sergeant has a good selection of workwear by Carhartt and Dickies, though, with relatively few hipsters pawing through them.

This surplus store focuses mostly on workwear clothing, like Dickies and Carhartt, but also has a fair selection of new military items. It does carry a small selection of actual military (used) surplus things too. To go with the heavy-duty clothing, you will find shoes and boots, belts, hats, camping supplies, lots of knives, and many other small but useful gadgets. The store is staffed with a knowledgeable, friendly crew. When in Santa Monica make sure you check it out!
PROS: The store is very well organized and well stocked too!
CONS: A lack of free parking, but the Save-On lot next door is a possibility. . .
