I have taken my cats to the Cat Doctor since 1990 and would not go anywhere else. The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff very friendly and helpful and Dr. Given is a very accomplished, compassionate and knowledgeable vet. My cats always respond positively to her (and some have been very difficult). She has seen them through a number of very bad illnesses and I always feel confident that they are getting the best possible care. The fact that the clinic specialized in cats is a real bonus - plus no barking dogs to cause stress.
Worst Vet Experience in my 60 years! ! I had been a past customer who paid promptly. I brought a young cat in who had an obstruction and had not been eating, The Cat Doctor told me he would die if I didn't let her operate. Then she refused to return the cat when I told her I was not able to immediately pay the entire bill of over $900.00. I had already paid over $100.00 for tests. She told me the operation would cost $650.00 but then she added another $100.00 after that...because she wanted to keep the cat another day...even though she knew it was a financial hardship for me. She said if I could not pay, I would have to release the cat to her. There are other vets around who would have charged a lot less (I checked after this incident) , will be a lot more compassionate, and won't try to steal your cat! I don't think it was ethical for her to do this but I was so distressed over it that have not yet reported her to the Veterinary Board. Go anywhere but here!
I love the Cat Doctor. I have a "difficult" cat and other places have had to sedate him or man-handle him. From the second I stepped into the Cat Doctor I knew it was different. It was very quiet, no barking dogs or excess noise. Everyone was very friendly and the doctor was very calm and sure of herself. She even managed to trim his nails!! My cat and any others in the future will continue to be patients at The Cat Doctor.
I brought my cat to be spayed about 6 years ago now. I remember it well, because I never brought her back there. When she came to me in her carrier she was wild eyed and confused and unable to gauge her surroundings well. They handed me the carrier and walked off.
