insurance
by Sarah L.
Actually, she is right. No matter how great your insurance company is, they will only pay for x-rays once a year. So every other visit. If they see a problem they will as permission to take an x-ray, which would be paid by the patient. If a patient declines an x-ray, a dentist is very limited in the treatment services they can offer because they cannot see the damage done to the tooth

I do not work there.
by Michele Q.
I actually work for a private insurance company, but nice guess. I just moved to the area and was looking for a good dentist. But A company cannot take any sort of x-ray or anything actually if it is not covered UNLESS a patient gives permission and pays out of pocket. But I mean, apparently you think you know more then I do.

Premier Dental Arts
I stumbled across this blog and from it I decided to go to Premier Dental Arts not the Monkey Dr like my children. Premier Dental Arts told me I had 6 cavities. I had been cavity free all my life and go to the dentist regularly I never have any tooth pain or any problems. My gut tells me there is something fishy going on there!!! Could he be doing all these fillings just to charge the Ins. Companies to make more $$$? I decided to make my next appointment with the Monkey Dentist.

not ins problem

My insurance is excellent. Never a problem ANYWHERE. They just rush you out of the chair. And I'm sure you work for hamilton. So tell you what, you keep the rotten teeth they foster. I'm going elsewhere so I can be healthy.

Ins. companies
by Not T.
X-rays are insurance...not the dental office. If ins companies don't pay, and they don't have permission to take them, they won't. Not a quality of care issue, its a money issue.

"Expert" - no, just smoke and mirrors
by Teresa O.
The fact of the matter is that they charge a lot extra for care that is less than thorough to say the least. They don't regularly do x-rays, wanted to over-sedate my son for a filling and charge more than $100 out of pocket for the unnecessary drugs, and for 2 years of faithful visits every 6 months I told them I was having problems with 2 teeth that they insisted were fine. Nevermind that they didn't x-ray either one. Well, by year 2 one of them (which had a crown they refused to remove to check for infection) broke in half. I went to a different dentist who cleared up the rampant infection and (at quite an expense) I ended up getting an implant tooth. Now another crown that this office placed is having the same exact problems. This time I know enough to seek another dentist.
The monkeys sure are fun for the kids. Too bad they don't have a thing to do with dental care.

No Barrel of Monkeys
by Anonymous
I had been an patient of the "monkey dentist" for 20 years, and I developed a great relationship, or so I thought. I went to a new dentist and found that I had 8 cavaties, all which weren't fresh, but have been brewing in my teeth more a very long time. I was sick when I was shown my xrays and realized that my perfect teeth were not so perfect. I then realized that the Monkey Dentist are great with kids, but horrible at their jobs. I get a cleaning and then a dentist would see me for, oh, 4 mintues, pat me on the shoulder and send me to the reception desk. At my new dentist, Premier Dental Arts, he spends time with me, showing me my xrays, talking everything over with me, and doesn't 'sugar coat' anything just to keep the flow of patients going. I'm so glad I found a place that is calm, informative, and credible with my mouth. Instead of a factory approach, i'm giving one on one time with a much better result, all my cavaties that the Monkey Dentist neglected are filled to perfection thanks to Dr. Wu !

So Disappointed
by Anonymous
I went to the "Monkey Dentist" for 20 years and for the last 5 years I have had perfect check-ups. I never missed a 6 month cleaning and was feeling great about my teeth until a year ago when I experienced pain while eating sweets. The revolving door of dentists there told me that they would just "keep an eye" on a certain tooth. To make a long story short, I switched dentists who found 5 cavities that had been brewing for years and years in my mouth. They have been filled and treated and now I feel great. I sent my sister over to my new dentist (Dr. Charles Wu) where he found 4 cavities on my sister just weeks after an exam at Hamilton Dental. I am never going back because it feels like a factory compared to where i go now. If the dentist spent 7 minutes with me there that was a record. What a shame too considering I spent 20 years there.

This is an incredibly well-run dental location. I love that I always receive reminder phone calls and mailings when I have appointments, and there's always plenty of staff on hand. They are also the only dentist I can think of that actually has actual monkeys near their front desks! Everyone is professional and polite, and I always feel respected as a patient. I really like this place.

Hamilton Dental is simply great. They have tv's in all of their rooms and they let you control the remote...what more could you want. The service they provide is world class from the way that they handle your x-rays to the complete cleaning that they give. I have never experienced anything like it. Check it out.

Not the best

At first glance, this dental office seemed too good to be true. After driving 1 1/2 hours to visit our favorite dentist, we knew we had to find a more local practice. We used their pediatric services for my 6 year old son and I used the adult dentists.
After my initial visit and explanation that I didn't want the amalgram fillings they went ahead and used them in my mouth - I didn't realize until I was rinsing my mouth. They also didn't seem to care about my mouth and said that this cavity was "all that was wrong".
I had an emergency with a painful tooth and they couldn't take me (also couldn't book a cleaning for 6 months) I drove the 1 1/2 hours to our old beloved dentist to find out that there was still tons wrong with my mouth (said the xrays I had done PRIOR to leaving them and going to Hamilton) After having the xrays sent over from Hamilton, most of them had to be redone as they were not readable.
I am just so upset at this place and all the trust I put in them. I mean, it's my mouth. And even though we didn't seem to have the same problem with the pediatric dentists (though they don't seem to read charts, as they applied flouride to my son with allergies to dyes and additives when it specifically is written on his chart NOT TO) - we pulled all our business from them. Why risk it?
PROS: Great bedside manner with kids
CONS: incompetence
