Kristy and Ian worked wonders on our little man, Blake. We brought Blake home to our other furry baby, Bella who is 7. They were not getting along at all. Bella was agitated by Blake's "puppy" behavior and Blake was ill mannered.

Blake spent 5 days at Kristy and Ian's home. We CANNOT believe the amazing change in him! Blake has settled down considerably. He listens to commands, he does not bother Bella like he used to, he FINALLY sleeps through the night...but most importantly, Blake's screaming and howling when we are not in the room with him has stopped.

We are absolutely amazed at the work Kristy and Ian have done with Blake! We went from frustrated puppy parents to happy puppy parents. In fact, we are setting up Bellas time with Smart Dogs Training! We want Blakes big sister to be a good example to him.

We will recommend Smart Dogs Training to anyone who will listen!

Our rescue, Dante, was 90% wonderful but 10% impossible. He barked at everything & nothing, had severe anxiety and lacked doggy manners.

We worked with a trainer in our home, but hectic work schedules created problems with implementation and consistency leaving us all frustrated.

We were at the point of deciding whether or not Dante would be better suited with another family.

The Smart Dogs 15-day Lodge & Learn program was our savior. Kristy & Ian have created a doggy palace in their home! While it looks like a country club, it is an elite in-home training facility. Dante was also taken on field trips to test & enforce his new learned skills. He came back to us a new dog! He is obedient, confident, and in more control of his impulses. Who knew our rarely used treadmill would now be a staple of Dantes day?

We still have extensive homework, but Smart Dogs laid the foundation we all needed.

So, if youre looking for a miracle, revelation or phenomenon, for your dog, dont give up! Send your dog to Ian & Kristy at Smart Dogs. You absolutely will not regret it.

We recently finished 15 days of Lodge and Learn at Smart Dogs. We are first time dog owners and needed some help with our 10 week old Ozark Mountain Dog, Yogi. He was nipping and biting, chewing on my rugs, the kitchen table, etc. He wouldnt walk on his leash, wouldnt come when we called him, and would not sleep in his crate and would have accidents in the crate.

On his first night home he walked on his leash through our entire neighborhood with out any problems at all AND he slept in his crate ALL night long with out ANY accidents!!! Since he has been home he has not chewed on anything but his toys. He is a much calmer dog.

I cant say enough nice things about Kristy and Ian. I was apprehensive about leaving our new puppy to strangers. But once I met Kristy and Ian I knew he was in good hands. They are wonderful and really know what they are doing. They make you feel at ease right away. They were very good about communicating with us on Yogis progress. They even sent us pictures of him training. You can tell that Kristy and Ian love what they do and that they truly love each of the dogs they are training. I wouldnt trust Yogi with anyone else!! You will be very happy with Smart Dogs training!!! Thank you, Kristy and Ian!!!

When we first adopted Cody, we had pictured many different things. Never once, however, did we envision the issues that we experienced. The biggest and worst one had to be the fact that our adorable new puppy had no issue whatsoever urinating in the house and even in his crateand then laying in it. This occurred several times a day! We were giving him baths almost daily. It was horrible. While I hate to admit it, we actually considered bringing Cody back to the shelter, even though my family and I were completely in love with him. Instead, as a last resort, we called Smart Dogs. If someone would have told me that my dog would have virtually no accidents after just a one-hour session with Kristy, I never would have believed it. Thats exactly what happened, though. Kristy and Ian have taught us how to interact with Cody in a loving but firm way, establishing him as part of the family but also letting him know his role in our pack. Cody is a wonderful and friendly pup who makes everyone who meets him want to get one of their own! He has earned a tremendous amount of freedom now! He is a joy to walk on a leash; he rings a bell on our back door whenever he needs to go outside; he is amazing with our children; he sits, stays, heels, comes I could go on and on. Weve only had a handful of sessions with Kristy and Ian, and we look forward to many more! I cant say enough positive things about Smart Dogs! I recommend them to everyone I know who has a new puppy or an old dog who needs to learn new tricks! Please, please, PLEASE call them before finding a new home for your dog!!!!!

I cant say enough about how helpful Smart Dogs Training has been to us with our Golden Doodle, Gordon. After only 20 minutes of instruction, they had Gordon walking right by my side rather than pulling so hard on his leash. One of our biggest concerns was when Gordon and our neighbors dogs would all be outside at the same time. Although we do have a fenced yard, Gordon would be running back and forth at the fence barking nonstop and we did not know how to get him in control. Kristy showed us how to use a remote control collar to correct Gordon. We have had the collar for over 2 months and I can honestly say we have only had to correct Gordon 3 or 4 times at the very lowest level. Now when he sees the neighbor dogs outside, he responds to my command of Gordon no and he comes running happily over to me for praise. It has been a true blessing and we are looking forward the spring and summer and being able to be spend time in the yard with Gordon being happy and calm. Smart Dogs also helped us to keep Gordon in control inside the house when the doorbell rings and someone comes in. He will sit in his spot waiting patiently until I tell him ok. It has made having company arrive at our home a pleasant situation and Gordon just seems like a happier dog! Kristy and Ian are truly pros!

Being 130 pounds at 10 months old, my mastiff puppy Arnold could look pretty threatening. He would become very protective of the house when we had visitors, and would bark and growl at people when they were in the house. People didnt want to come into our house because they were scared of Arnold. After he bit someone, I knew I needed help, so I called Smart Dogs. I have to say it was one of the best decisions Ive made! I am now completely comfortable inviting people into my house. Instead of barking and growling at visitors, Arnold is very relaxed and comfortable, which makes everyone else relaxed and comfortable. Also, since he is so big, Arnold was hard to control on walks, but Ian gave us tips on how to walk him, and now he walks right by my side at all times. The training worked so fast, and I saw an improvement after just the first session. I highly recommend Smart Dogs!

We love our rescue dog Lucy so much, but she was having a really difficult time adjusting to our house and her behavior was so inconsistent. She was cuddly and sweet, but then wouldnt ever listen to anything we said. She was friendly to us, but would jump and bark at guests as soon as they walked in. We were told she could never be crated because she was older, so we never did and it resulted in her completing freaking out when we got homebarking, crying, jumping, and running around like crazy. We realized early she had some serious anxiety issues as well as fear and had no idea what we could do. To say the least, we were stressed out and thought maybe we werent able to meet her needs, but couldnt imagine the thought of giving her back.
A friend referred us to Kristy and Ian and I have never met such compassionate and caring people ever in terms of our welfare as well as Lucys. Lucy is a work in progress, but knowing that Kristy and Ian are there to ask questions and to share successes makes you feel like you have a support team on your side. We signed her up for the Lodge & Learn program. Shes been back for two weeks and is so much better. She is comfortable, she listens, and she is crate trained! She is amazing on walks, never pulling. When people come over she is calm, most of the time not even barking when the doorbell rings. Our life is so much easier now. She is happier and less nervous knowing that we are in charge and each day we see improvement. The skills that Kristy & Ian taught all of us has made Lucys transition into her forever home so much better because we know why she acts the way she does and how to react appropriately. Most importantly, we now set expectations of her behavior to create an environment where she always knows what she is supposed to do in situations that are new.
I cant imagine not seeking out SmartDogs. I know anywhere else wouldnt have worked for her needs. They are so attentive and caring. They want to see success as much as you do! I feel like weve met people well always be in touch with, they are so amazing!

It was love at first sight when I first met Beau, a four year old American Staffordshire, Being a long time Cesar Millan fan, and never an alpha dog owner before, I knew that the breed can be determined , even though Beau first appears to be too submissive, and needs an assertive pack leader. I deliberately searched for a trainer who could help me be the kind of leader Beau needed, who had the same beliefs which I held, that dogs need exercise, discipline and a job as an important part of being a happy member of our pack. From the moment I met Ian, I knew Beau and I were in the right hands. Beau and I both are so excited to learn new behaviors, skills and new jobs that we have also been able to be examples of a happy pack with our friends and their dogs when we visit them, even calming their dogs just by going on a pack walk and letting Beau and me lead. Beau and I have also been able to change a couple of prejudiced minds about his breed, just by practicing our new skills confidently. Being a strong believer that nothing happens by chance, I am so grateful that Smart Dog Training was available to us. We both are better beings because each other and Ian. (And Elizabeth and Kristy too)

We have 9 month old Maltese puppy, Angel. I began working with Kristy individually and Angel made great progress with the basics. However, she has a stubborn puppy streak. She became out of control barking at everything and mouthing everyone with her teeth and I just could not seem to get this under control. Kristy mentioned the Lodge & Learn training and how this behavior could be worked on with some specific training in these areas. We decided this was the direction to take. Angel came back a completely different puppy. She is no longer barking and mouthing. In addition, Kristy and Ian taught her how to be a well behaved puppy. She is a pleasure to be around. I feel confident that I will be able to continue her new behavior. I have loved working with you both and Angel is nuts about you. This was one of the best decisions I have made. Our home is now peaceful and we are thrilled. She is a perfect little ??angel?! Thank you Kristy and Ian!!

My many thanks to Smart Dogs (Kristy & Ian) for their wonderful accomplishment of training my headstrong puppy, Bob. Prior to training with Smart Dogs, I almost thought I??d have to give up Bob because it was difficult for me to train him due to my arthritis and emphysema. After two weeks with Kristy and Ian, Bob is now a well-behaved, happy dog. Kristy and Ian are professional, dedicated and are truly gifted trainers. And I am thrilled with the solid foundation of good obedience they provided for Bob and for making my life easier!

I can??t say enough good things about Smart Dogs!!!!!
I am a first time dog owner with a 1 year old Westie (we have owned him for one year). He looks very cute, but did not act so cute, and trying to figure out how to care for this very ??alpha? dog was adding a HUGE amount of stress to my life!!! I was on the edge, and was basically ready to give him to the westie shelter because I didn??t know what else to do.
When we got him at 6 months old we immediately took the beginner and intermediate level classes at the local pet store. These classes were a small step, but they truly did nothing to help me understand how to lead and connect with my dog?which in my case makes ALL the difference. I read a LOT of books, which helped, but they only took me so far.
Then I finally made an appointment with Smart Dogs, and within 24 hours after just the first visit with Kristy, I noticed dramatic improvements!!! (No exaggeration, the improvements started that quickly.) She helped everything fall into place for us, and now I am finally starting to enjoy having a dog! Now training him is NOT stressful.
I am relaxed and he is responsive and it is AMAZING. All of the guilt I was carrying is gone. Kristy answers all our questions and is great at teaching our entire family about caring for our dog.
The difference is now we are not trying to ??get? our dog to do anything?we are now showing him how to behave and he follows our lead (he even listens to my 5 year old). He is so much more calm, and we actually have a great bond now (and this is after only two visits from Kristy).
All I can say is? I wish I would have called them sooner!!! If it weren??t for Smart Dogs, I truly would not have been able to keep my dog. I spent money on many things, in the mean time, trying to figure out solutions on my own. My money would have been much better spent just starting with Smart Dogs.

What a difference Smart Dogs has made in the behavior of our dog, Zoey! Seriously, after only one lesson our daily walk changed from a nerve wracking, dismal obligation to a relaxing, fun activity. I know it sounds impossible, but one lesson is all it took. We were so impressed that we are now addressing other behaviors. Ian is showing my husband and me how to train Zoey to be a happy and well behaved part of our family. And Zoey is much calmer now that she understands what is expected of her. I really sense that she is relieved to know that she is no longer the ??boss? of the house.
I am so happy that we came across the ad for Smart Dogs. Their knowledge is amazing and their training techniques make sense. I highly recommend Smart Dogs. You will not be disappointed.

These guys are awesome! I have 3 large dogs and 3 small children? they helped me get the dogs under control. I haven't been able to walk one of my dogs for 9 years and now thanks to them, I can. They don??t pull or fight me, they stay by my side and we actually enjoy taking them to the park now. Their training is fast and you can see improvement right away. They were different dogs after the first session. I would highly recommend them to anyone with a dog that needs ANY behavior corrected. From walking to ignoring the door bell, I can??t express how incredibly thankful I am to have them bring some sanity to my house!

Our home was full of stress and chaos for months with our 2 pups, Lila and Petey. They are sweet dogs but they would jump on people coming in the door, potty in the house and taking them for a walk was a complete nightmare. Due to not being able to walk them, they would not get enough exercise which then caused them to chew and destroy everything in the house.
Smart Dogs has completely changed our lives in just a few days. Our house is now an enjoyable place to live. Lila and Petey seem quiet and content because we can take them on walks outside or use the treadmill getting out their excess energy.
We can??t thank Kristy and Ian enough for giving us back our sanity and a comfortable home to live in. Smart Dogs is absolutely AMAZING!

I have had such a positive experience with Smart Dogs Training and Lodging. My husband and I decided to try out a trainer when we realized our two yorkies were ruling the house as well as us. We also have a baby on the way so we needed to learn the proper tools on disciplining. I researched MANY companies and spoke to many different trainers before deciding on Smart Dogs. The primary reasons for choosing Smart Dogs Training: 1. They come to your house; which is amazing because your dog(s) learns in their own environment and you don??t have to travel 2. They don??t charge you per dog; rather they charge you per household. I cannot even tell you how amazing that is, especially when most companies charge you per dog and it can be very expensive. 3. Talking to them assured me that they could break the girls ??habits? and they quickly put my mind at ease 4. They have an affordable rate.
Our first session was with Ian (the husband of the team) who came to our condo in Chicago. I was so relieved to see him and couldn??t wait to see what happened during our first session. I was very pessimistic because I assumed are dogs were ??untrainable?. The main issues we struggled with were barking, pulling on the leash when walking, not listening, jumping on the furniture, not liking other dogs?pretty much you name it they did it. Ian couldn??t have been nicer and had a consultation with us prior to starting the training session. He spent a good amount of time with us understanding what was going on. Just by observing the dogs with us he could identify what we were not doing properly. I could not believe how little things like getting permission to come on the couch could make a difference in their and our lives. We then went to leash training and he quickly proved me wrong that the dogs could indeed walk on the leash without being spastic. He taught us the proper tools on how to deal with the girls behavior. We have had a couple sessions so far and there has been a definite improvement on their behavior and actions. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!
One disclaimer I have to make is that it is a lot of work that you and your family have to do on your own. You cannot expect for your dogs to be trained after the first hour that they spend with Kristy or Ian. It has been weeks of hard work for us; but has been most rewarding and is worth every minute and dollar we spent doing it. We are now looking forward to a more zen like household?.until the baby comes. After the arrival, we will then invite them back to our home to give us some more guidance?

My wife and I would like to thank the staff at Smart Dogs; most importantly Jody, for the help with our new Rottweiller puppy boy. At just over 12 weeks old at the time and only having been in our home for 3 days, he had a few issues that needed to be addressed. The education that Jody provided along with some simple easy to duplicate training lessons have allowed us to enjoy our little guy that much more since the visit. By sessions end, the little guy was doing the stairs on his own which he was extremely reluctant to even attempt prior to the visit. Our puppy has a very dominant personality, but with the help from Jody, my wife and I have learned to instill in our puppy that although he may be the alpha male with his playmates, his mom and dad are still the king and queen and has to listen to us. Believe it or not, he does. Since the visit, he has learned to sit and stay at every doorway and 95% of the time without even having to tell him. He will sit and stay and wait for us to tell him it??s time to eat his dinner and has no aggression towards us with our hands in his food and we can hand feed him with no problems as well. He will also let us know when he has to go potty and has been accident free in the home for well over a week now. He continues to learn daily and has become a Petsmart favorite among all the staff and customers when he visits. He is a very social puppy that enjoys attention from people and animals alike. We owe most of our success to Jody for teaching us patience and the understanding of how to communicate with our male Rottweiller more effectively. Thank you for the help Jody. You rock. We have you on speed dial just in case we need you. Best wishes in your future success that you shared with us.

OMG! I would highly recommend Smart Dogs T/L!!! Ian is truly a "dog whisperer"..he is so great with my labradoodle puppy. Indie has learned to sit and stay, walk with manners :-), and walk on the treadmill! And the best thing was... I saw results and improvements the very day he came to train her.

This was well worth the time and money!!!! Thanks SDTL!!!

Having Smart Dogs come work with my dog was, hands down, the best thing I could??ve done for King, my family, and our house. Being a first time dog owner who adopted a 1year old ridgeback lab mix, I wasn??t sure what I was getting myself into. Within 3 months I was at my wits end when I finally stumbled upon Smart Dogs. Ian listened to all the problems we had and worked to help the root of the issues (walking, chewing/picking things up, deal with strangers, treadmill for extra energy which lead to plenty of destruction, just to name a few) both inside and outside the house. I couldn??t have asked for a more professional, helpful, and kind group of people to come to the rescue. The schedule flexibility and diverse range of services made them a perfect fit for King and I. And the best part is you can tell they only want the BEST for you and your dog and give them as much love and attention as if they were their own. We??ve used up our 4 training sessions but I wouldn??t hesitate to call them again and highly recommend to ANYONE looking for help! Thanks Ian and Kristy!!

Kristy and Ian,

Thank you, thank you, thank you! When we brought Sophie and Rex to you for a Lodge and Learn we were really desperate. Our dogs behavior was causing so much stress in our household! I could not believe they were the same dogs when we picked them up. Your expertise in modifying dog behavior truly is amazing and we are forever thankful to both of you for all the hard work you put into Sophie and Rex. We have implemented the things that you taught them (and us) into our daily routine and they are changed dogs. A neighbor was over the other day and commented on how well behaved they were ?? that??s a first! Thanks Smart Dog!

When I met Sadie, an adorable Black Lab and Rottweiler mix, she was about 16 months old. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Smart Dogs for any situation you and your dog might be facing. These folks truly love what they do and the families they work with. They are interested in giving you the best life with your dog and as long as I'm a dog parent, I will be a loyal client to them. Despite the fact that I use a power wheelchair full time and have Cerebral Palsy, I felt an immediate connection to Sadie and that I could handle her 70lbs of young, curious energy. Sadie and I settled into our life together over the next few months but she had her definite issues. She was consistently jumping on and barking at people who came to the door, and while she was not really aggressive she can look intimidating and knows it! She also liked to play bite, never hurting anyone, but it wasn't ideal. Walking her on a leash was a workout for me, even with the help of the power chair. Sadie could not heel on a leash and planted her nose in the ground from the moment we began, tracking the whole time. It was beyond the curious nature of a dog; she couldn't be distracted away from the scents and seemed almost possessed to follow them. Dragging a dog back home when I couldn't get her to listen wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for. It wasn't until we returned to Illinois for an extended stay in the fall that I realized that Sadie's behavior could put her in danger. My family's home has a large yard, perfect for a dog that spends most of her time on a leash. The only problem was that Sadie wouldn't respond to her name or come when she was called once she began tracking something. She ran across the road and through wooded areas, and because of the wheelchair I was unable to catch up with her or keep her in my sights. It was a scary moment. Shortly after the incident I began looking for board and train programs in the area and came across Smart Dogs. I knew that Sadie was no dummy, but that she could be stubborn and independent. She needed trainers who not only cared about her as a happy dog but could give her the structure and basic skills to thrive. Kristi and Ian turned out to be the perfect match for Sadie (and I). Within a few days of our first phone conversation, Smart Dogs took Sadie on for 2 weeks of board and train. When Sadie 'graduated' and came home the day before Thanksgiving, I was greeted by a different dog. To my amazement, Sadie looked at me when I spoke and she listened to me. She sat. She stayed. She lay down. And walking her no longer felt like a marathon! The happiest moment for me was on our first walk afterwards when I watched her look around at the birds and was clearly relaxed. During her time with the Kristi and Ian, Sadie learned how to run on a treadmill and next to a bicycle in addition to her basic manners. These skills seem to have translated well for her to learn how to best adapt to the movements of my chair when we are out and about. Sadie still needs me to guide her in some cases but I trust her behavior enough to take her on her first airplane flight a couple of weeks back?.something I could not have done pre Smart Dogs. She was an excellent passenger who diligently listened to me the whole flight. She sat or lay politely while people of all ages asked to pet her in the terminal. Even with all those strangers, she never barked or jumped and I was able to keep slack in the leash. Without the things that this experience taught both Sadie and I, I'm not sure I could have handled her long term. Even though we are back in Texas these days, Kristi and Ian are always a phone call away, ready and willing to give me advice as we conquer new scenarios together. My life will never be easy, and that's ok with me most of the time. I anticipated that having a dog would change my routine, but I had no idea how life changing sharing my life with Sadie would be. Ian and Kristi never questioned my desire or ability to care for Sadie and gave me the confidence I needed to be a good owner. We are probably the happiest pair you'd every meet?two kindred spirits I'm sure were meant for each other?.but none of this bliss would've been possible without Smart Dogs. Go as quickly as you can to them?you and your dog will be so happy you did!

We Have Trustworthy Dogs Now!
We met Christy and Ian by accident (or for a reason) at the dog park one day and they were with their dogs. We couldn't believe how well-behaved they were so we asked them about it. We realized they could help us with our little Yorkie, Jack and Boston, Janie. First we did the training session at our house and then realized we just didn't have the time to follow through with the lessons between our work schedules and 4 kids. We decided to do the lodging and training program at their home since there were some issues that really needed to be addressed. They had already ruined our carpet & couches with bathroom issues and destoyed our backyard without reason. They were causing so much stress in our family we didn't know what to do. When we got Jack and Janie back we could not believe the difference. They have been back for 4 months now and have not had accidents since. They are totally trustworthy in the home which is something we never thought would be possible. The reason I am writing this is because I have been to other trainers and training facilities and have never received the level of professionalism and loving care that I did with Smart Dogs. These people are the nicest people I have ever met. I could tell they really care about dogs and making sure the success transfered to our home. Their communication was unbelievable. They always kept in touch and still follow up even to this day to make sure everything is going great. Their home was beautifully kept and I could tell they care about customer's comfort. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. We have our life back and they have more fun as well. I have my marriage back as well! I have told so many people about them!
Thank you Christy and Ian!

Ian & Kristy are the best. I had my 21/2 year old beagle/Aussie mix Jasper with them for 12 days of board & train. I had worked with Ian & Kristy when Jasper was a pup but was in need of some major help.

Jasper, had become a very fearful dog. His fears caused him to be aggressive on the leash towards other dogs and people. I could not let anyone in the house with the dog off the leash because he would bark and charge at them.

Jasper, is like a new dog. He listens, sits, stays heals and when the doorbell rings will sit and wait and not bark like a crazy dog. Kristy & Ian taught Jasper that he is no longer in charge. Kristy explained that it does take a dog about 30 days to really learn a new behavior. We are all working to keep him on track. My husband and children are all amazed at how well behaved the dog is.

I just want to say how nice it was to have Jasper in a home environment for his training. I had visited some other board & train facilities closer to my home. Many of them just keep the dogs in kennels or doggie day care all day and work with the dog for one hour a day. Kristy & Ian had Jasper in their home and worked with him throughout the day. When I picked Jasper up they had Jasper and 3 other dogs, that??s it. This is not a pack in as many dogs as you can kind of place.

For 2 years I have not wanted to go away because I did not want to put my fearful dog in a traditional kennel. Now I know that I have a wonderful place for Jasper to go anytime I need it. Kristy & Ian are two of the nicest people who really care about the dogs they are caring for. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

We are so thankful for Ian and Kristy! It is so relieving to know that our dog is treated as part of their family when we are away. We recently did the lodge and learn while we were out of town. They worked on her separation anxiety and leash walking. When we picked Bailey up, it was amazing! It is a great experience to go on walks now, and she also learned to run on the treadmill and alongside a bike. Ian and Kristy are the best and I highly recommend to anyone in need of a dogsitter or trainer. Thank you Ian and Kristy!

Around our house, Ian is simply known as "The Magician". In just one training session, we saw an amazing transformation of our dog (1-yr old, rescued, Aussie mix) from a girl with a "leader of the pack" attitude to a sweet, obedient dog who is clearly happier with us humans in charge. The training methods used were positive and easy to understand and more importantly, made sense when Ian explained things from our dog's point of view. We couldn't be happier with our new (and newly trained) dog and would recommend Smart Dogs a hundred times over!

Our dog was behaving badly around other dogs and would become aggressive. Ian worked with her on walking with other dogs and it turned her around completely. She has changed for the better.
Thanks Ian!!!

We have two dogs, one 8 month puppy lab/golden mix and one very spoiled 7 year old pek/pug mix. We also also have three small children, so training our dogs to be good was very important. After dealing with our oldest dog snapping at our daughter and the puppy eating off my babies highchair, I realized I was in over my head and needed help.We called on Ian and Kristy after MANY positive reviews to help us with our puppy; little did we know they could also help us with our very aggressive older dog (before Smart Dogs we thought about giving her to other family members because she snapped). After we boarded and trained our dogs with them, we were amazed at how wonderfully trained they were; our puppy has become the most amazing listener to us - sits when asked, comes when called, stays sitting when doorbell rings, barks at strange noises but not at every noise - our dog Calleigh is amazing now - so calm, playful and obedient. Our older dog, whom we felt was too old to learn new tricks, has really changed around. Once a dog who snarled and growled at everything, who was so food, other dog and people aggressive has turned into that fun loving dog we used to know. Ian and Kristy have helped Bailey unlearn and relearn who is the pack leader (we had enabled Bailey to become the leader and us her followers, which made her confused and therefore, act out). By doing simple things, such as: us going in and out of the doors first, the dogs eating after us, etc..... our dogs now respect us as their leaders and them the followers, which has made them happier. I am so thankful for Kristy and Ian for helping our dogs and our family get trained - our home is so much more less stressed with two very obedient dogs, everyone is happier and we owe it to SMART DOGS. Ian and Kristy are wonderful people, who genuinely care about the people and dogs they teach and have a true, genuine passion for what they do - something you can't find now a days. After researching MANY other training/boarding facilities and visiting them (which some were very scary) we went back to Ian and Kristy - it is rare to find two people so commited to their clients! Thank you for helping my family, even our four legged members!

After researching MANY other training/boarding facilities and visiting them (which some were very scary) we went back to Ian and Kristy - it is rare to find two people so commited to their clients! Thank you for helping my family, even our four legged members!

Our dog Bailey had the best time playing with Ian, Kristy, and the other dogs at their house. The have a huge backyard with an obstacle course, so we felt bad bringing Bailey back to our city loft! I cannot say enough good things about Kristy and Ian. Ian went on runs with Bailey, which was great! And when she came home she had a few good habits that we did not teach her, such as not jumping on people and eating her full meal in her crate. And we did not do the board and train, so this was a pleasant surprise!

I have booked with them through the end of the year!

Thank you again Ian and Kristy :)

We Couldn??t Believe it!!

We met Kristy and Ian at an outdoor event in Chicago when we were in town visiting our in-laws. We are from Arizona and flew to Chicago for our anniversary. We had two unruly dogs named Twix and Ivy. They are five and seven years old so it never occurred to us that they were able to be trained at this point. We feared it may have been too late. We found out that Smart Dogs is based out of Chicago and Florida , but will travel anywhere to train dogs. We felt so at ease when we spoke to them that we decided to fly one of them out to Arizona to work with Twix and Ivy. We had already been down this training road before, but they assured us that they would change our situation. In the past, we had been taught to give treats and now we just have spoiled, unhealthy dogs that demand treats for everything. Ian spent a good amount of time explaining the canine world and how we can relate to it. He rehabilitated our dogs in just a few days and gave us the knowledge and the tools to continue the program. We felt very empowered and our dogs were finally under control We knew it would take longer since they were older, but we still had another 8-10 years with them so it was well worth the investment for our peace of mind. Ian and Kristy have been so supportive even after with the phone calls and emails. We feel like they are just next door to us walking us through new hurdles even over the phone. We are amazed at what our dogs will do without getting treats for every move. Ian and Kristy really know what they are doing and now our neighbors are going to do the same thing. Thanks for showing us another way. We were not enjoying our dogs before Smart Dogs came out and changed our relationship. It is clear that our dogs are much happier now because are not confused. They listen to everything we say, they don??t destroy things, potty in the house, don??t show any aggression and they walk perfectly on a leash. It was the best investment we ever made.

Smart Dogs Training and Boarding is fantastic! We have a 120 pound Irish Wolfhound named Lily who was nearly impossible to walk. Now, not only can I walk her easily, so can my 10 year old daughter! After a board and train at Smart Dogs, Lily is a pleasure to have around rather than a pain. She even learned some tricks! The best part is that now when we go out of town we have peace of mind knowing that Lily will be in a home environment, getting lots of attention, and playing with just a couple other dogs rather than a kennel where she would receive little to no attention, or could get sick or hurt. Kristy and Ian are obviously dog lovers who are great trainers too!
