We bought a Volvo C30 on March 27, 2013. At the very end of the sale as we were getting ready to drive away we asked Boris, our sales person for the other key to car. He said, "I can only find one right now." We said, "That's a problem.

So Friday there was black ice all over Hillsboro. I was in my 98' mk3 jetta, and slid into a curb. I parked my car at my work, and the fallowing day tried to find a shop to fix it. I am new in the area and looked around and no one is open on saturday/sunday. The dealership was so I called, and Mike who is one of the biggest tools I have ever talked to by the way. He said that they can look at it same day bring it okar. Okay. I had the car towed to Herzog-Meier. Mike calls me back and says they have the car but they don't have anyone to look at it for 5-10+ business days. What happened to same day? Why did I take my car here if it is going to take two or more weeks to look at? He said he would call me back and talk to some people see what he can do. Mhmm yeah, I work customer service and I know thats a hunk of crap. He calls back says they have finished their work early can can look at it today. Hmm.. how do you go from 10+ business days booked of work to finishing in 50 minutes...but okay. He told me it will be $115 to look and estimate the damages. So let me get this straight Herzog-Meier is charging me $115 to jack my car up and take the wheel off... They look at it and Mike calls back and says I should deff. get the insurance company involved. He told me that its going to be 2800+ dollars to fix. Mike proceeded to tell me that my wheel was cracked, my steering knuckle was bad, my tie rod, tie rod ends, and my control arm is bent. And that there is more extensive damage this 2800 is only what he can see so far.. Umm my mk3 is worth 3k, and a whole new k-frame isn't even $3000. Wtf are they talking about? I got my car back on monday because that is just total b.s. Mike kept asking, and asking.. "are you sure you don't want it serviced here" "are you sure?" "are you sure". Yes I'm sure.. I get my Jetta, jack it up, take the wheel off, and look inside. Not shocking that the only thing bent was the tie rod. NOTHING ELSE. These people are liars and are just out to get your money. He kept asking if I was sure because he knew once I looked at it or take it somewhere that I would figure out how badly they where trying to rip me off. I would never recomend someone to go to these people.

I found out they charged my friend $700 for an o2 sensor. Seven hundred dollars for an Oxygen sensor?!??!?!?!

Incompetence!

Unfortunately we have been using them for several years and keep getting sucked into their horrible service department. The only way to describe it is the snow ball effect. You go in for something and every time it comes out with the problem not rectified and with numerous new problems. So what does a rational person do? Well you back because you paid them $1000 to fix a
problem which they conveniently didn't fix. Two weeks ago we actually left HM with a check engine light on, granted it didn't have one on when we checked the car in! They ran the codes and stated it needed a new O2 sensor. Well that is fine and dandy except for this is the fourth O2 sensor to go bad while at HM in five years. When we called the service department out on the anomaly they admitted that it was unheard of.........$400 more please.
Save your money and go somewhere else, please!

I??ve had the worst sales and service experience with Herzog-Meier than I??ve had ever in my life before. Not only they sold me a lemon ??a bad lemon- that was way overpriced, they messed up the loan application, messed up my social security information and messed up anything that they possibly could. Then when the car started showing problems, they didn??t stand behind their promises, they charged me ridiculous amounts of money for repairs that I could only do at Herzog-Meier (lock on the extended warranty) and those repairs were inexistent; I??d picked up the car and notice the same problems I took the car in with. I was seriously ripped off, lied to and laughed at by this group of dishonest, fraudulent people. It is a mystery to me how they can stay in business.

How long do Herzog-Meier staff spend writing FAKE reviews on how great they are? What a bunch of CLOWNS. Check and see how similar all positive reviews are.

This place is the worst place in Portland to buy a car and the worst place to service your car. Everyone there seems to be nice at first. Then they will lie to you, they will steal from you, they will rip you off, they will not respond to the terms you agreed upon, they will not keep their promises. They will screw you, they will screw your car, they will hurt your credit and they will keep telling you lies. Go to Herzog-Meier, buy a car and be prepared to have the worst nightmare you will have in your life.

This is the worst place from coast to coast I bought a car from. Horrible experience with sales, endless lies and broken promises, they were rude and utterly unprofessional.
Service here is the biggest joke. Took the car in with two problems and a week after I picked up the car with the same problems after hundreds of dollars spent. They promised me to pay for the rental car and guess what... why would the keep one promise after everything they lied about.
Truly this is the most unprofessional, disgusting place I have had to deal with in my life.

NEVER RELY on their phone sales on a car you see online. They will sell it our of underneath you if a person walks on their sales floor. Aman is the WORST. He never never returns calls. Patrick is nice enough, but his boss Tom is a chicken shiznit. Instead of telling the news that the truck I wanted had been sold already he called and got my email to email that message instead of telling me over the phone. I will be buying a car in the next 2 weeks and I know I WILL NOT purchase a car from these idiots. Save your time and go somewhere where the sales people aren't so dirty and uneducated!

My 2001 VW Jetta has been serviced here a handful of times since relocating to Portland this summer. Initially I came in for a check engine light which turned out to be an exhaust problem. H-M replaced the catalytic converter under extended warranty at no cost and I was very pleased, but they found a few other things that were possibly out of order, the important ones of which I decided to pay to have fixed- this included a tire rotation I could have done myself, but figured they could handle while the car was already in and up on the lift. Four days following this the coolant temp starts to spike on the interstate. I return to H-M, where I find the water pump has failed. Because this is a difficult part to get at, I agree with them that while the timing belt cover is off they should replace that too, as it was going to be required sooner rather than later. I also note a strange noise in the front driver's side wheel- the technician drives it around the block and can't replicate the sound, the assistant service manager thinks he's heard it and recommends several hundred dollars of bushings and suspension pieces. Driving to dinner that night nearly $1000 lighter in the wallet for all the work done in the last week the noise I have noticed gets worse and worse. When parked I inspect the wheel myself and find it movable when I apply pressure with my foot and when I take off the plastic cap over the lug nuts I find three of them falling out onto the ground. While rotating my tires they failed to tighten or properly torque the lug nuts. I am not a mechanic, but I could have done far better on this simple task than the dealership service department. What's more: four days after the initial rotation I told them something was wrong, they checked, and could not find the most simple (yet embarrassing, for them as professionals) explanation. I hate to think about what might have slipped the technician's mind while replacing the water pump and timing belt, a highly complex fix that involves removing the engine mounting brackets. Herzog-Meier's service allowed me to drive off their lot TWICE with a vehicle inherently UNSAFE to drive.

Kyle in service did a bang up job getting my wife's car taken care of and made the whole appointment issue a pleasure. They do great work and make it real easy for customers.

My experience at HM was a good one. I had a BAD experience with another dealership just after I bought my car (warranty/tow problem with awful customer service) and so I stayed away from dealerships for 7 years. However, I had occasion to come back for a recall type issue and was pleased with the emphasis on customer service at HM. I got great customer service and quality work, so I'm glad I gave them a shot.
