While it doesn't compare to the art museums in NY and DC, the Chrysler is a really great place to go to learn or just to enjoy the works. The museum actually gets some really good traveling exhibits (a great glass exhibit, gemstone exhibits, etc.) that definitely add to the excitement and make it worth going a few times a year. Lots of schools also go on field trips here, as it is a great place for children to learn and experience new types of art first hand. The building is beautiful, but be careful because parking can be difficult.

Great place to be and be seen on the weekends. During the summer, The Chrysler Museum has art viewings and socials. It is an excellent place to meet new people from the area. Most people attending the art shows are of a younger crowd. It is a great place to go for a few hours to socialize and then hit the bars in downtown Norfolk. Great musuem.

When it comes to art, I am no expert but I do know that any Museum that has displayed both Ferraris and Monets is truly one of a kind! I have visited the Chrylser Museum of Art on several occasions, but the two times that stand out the most were truly amazing. Imagine an entire wing of a museum entirely devoted to Ferraris, not just two or three of them but near 20 classic ferraris in mint condition from all over the world. Now picture going to that same museum at a later date and finding the same wing housing Monets, not just one masterpiece on loan, but near 30 of them.
PROS: An ever changing museum that houses some of the world's finest!

What's great about this museum is it's interesting and well-put-together, yet there's hardly ever a crowd. It feels like a rare little treasure find - a secret discovery. They have a beautiful collection of glass vases, goblets, and bowls color-categorized, which is quite equisite, which is the main attraction why I go there. Check out this little gem!

Norfolk's Chrysler Museum of Art is an absolute must visit for tourists and natives of Norfolk alike. The museum houses some rare pieces of art from the renaissance period all the way to modern abstract pieces. The docents are friendly and know a lot about each piece of art. The museum is divided quite well into sections by time period, making it easy to navigate. Additionally, there is a beautifil outdoor garden right on the water where you can sit, maybe even take a picnic lunch, and relax. The Chrysler is a place you should be sure to visit, no matter where you are from.
