Bluebird Homemade Ice Cream and Tea Room

This place recently opened, adding to the slew of place on Capitol Hill to find frozen treats. I like Bluebird because it has such a home-y, grassroots feel. The people working there are all either owners or related to the owners, and you can tell they care about their product. I've tried a couple of their specialty flavors -- the stout ice cream and the blueberry sorbet. Both had a somewhat strange texture but the taste was phenomenal. And that's part of the charm -- you can tell it's totally homemade, and not churned out offsite. Plus they have board games, interesting art, a PIANO, and a great community feel. Stop by for a change from the long lines at Molly Moon's and Old School Frozen Yogurt. I think this place is a gem.
