Crooks! Shame on Maspeth Animal Hospital!
by Jimmy S.
These people are scams: They asked me for a letter from the breeder stating that my kitten's parents were leukemia free, so they didn't have to test him OR TO GIVE HIM THAT SHOT.I specifically told them NOT to give a leukemia shot to my kitten and that I was going to get the letter. We brought the letter (they knew already that I did NOT want to give him the leukemia shot) and they did it anyway, without my consent. My kitten was agonizing after he came back home, he was in such pain that I couldn't even touch him because he started screaming. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place to anybody. The right thing to do is to tell the owner of the animal what they are going to do. Some things are not necessary. In this case, why giving the poor baby a shot that is not recommended? He'll be inside all the time, he doesn't need that. Even if I decided to give him the shot, it could had been done another time, not the same day they gave him another shot.Beware of these people: they are not professionals, they only think about the money, they don't think about the animals: they think about their pockets and how to fill them out.SHAME ON THEM.
They offer you a free exam but then they take the money out of you anyway!! And it's not about the money: it's about the attitude and the service they provide, which is far from fair.

Offers free exam to new patients
by Anonymous
I have been looking for another vet and wanted to make sure I got quality service without being ripped off. I just made an appointment with this clinic. The phone was answered immediately and the receptionist was verr professional and gave me the entire rundown of the fees. Exam is $45 (free if new patient with coupon that can be printed from its website), blood work is $60. She said it will cost me $195 to make sure my new stray cat is tested for all the common diseases, stool examined, deworned and fully vaccinated. Considering that the last time I took another of my cats to the vet it cost me $660 for a routine exam and a blood work for a thyroid condition my cat has had for years. And this vet wanted me to have her checked every 3 mos at $660 each time. I needed to find another vet who's not out for the money. I will review them again once I have completed the visit. But I thought first impressions are very important and I have high hopes.
