Business Response:

I apologize for your dissatisfaction; although our rates are clearly posted and very comparable to our competitors we certainly do not want you to have an unhappy experience with us! Please mention this review (or drop me an email at webmaster@kerryslawnandgarden.com) and I would be happy to provide a discount of 15% off of your parts on your next service if you would like to give us another try! Take care; again I apologize for any miscommunication and misunderstanding that may have occurred and would love the opportunity to win back your business :-) -Kerry Zimmer, President

They don't want my business. I have a cub cadet tractor, in for blade change and leveling. After it had been in the shop for a week, on a Monday morning they said it was fourth in line, a week later it still was not being repaired...It maybe done tomorrow, Wednesday.
I am so disappointed. I won't be back.

I tried them several times...I wanted to like them.

Not a big fan of this place. I have tried to buy equipment from them, they are un-interested in sales, nobody to help in the front of the store. When trying to ask questions. It's like the soup nazi episode of Seinfeld. You gotta stand under the stop sign behind the yellow line and wait for a dark haired crotchety old woman to wait on you. I asked to help me aquire a common part found on 90% of riding mowers. They wouldn't check the back, they wouldnt check the book. They immediately said no. If you don't buy their equipment they won't help you. If you own a craftsman tractor and walk into Kerry's they treat you like you got the plague. Nasty place, mean and nasty.

I purchased a John Deere tractor from them in 2001 and had a good experience. I decided to upgrade and bought a 2008 Cub Cadet GT 1554 Tractor. On my first use, it bent one of the steering arms - tractor had less than an hour on it. Took it back to Kerry's and 3 days after I purchased it and they said it was not a warranty item and I would need to pay to have it installed - $70. I ordered the part ($13) and installed it myself . Then after 8 hours it kept throwing a belt. I took it back at the beginning of the next season and they could not find any issues with it, but charged me $50 to look at the problem and sharpen the blades - I never asked for the blades to be sharpened. When I got it home, I noticed the blades never were sharpened. I called Kerry and he admitted them made a mistake and did not sharpen the blades. He offered to sharpen them for me, if I dropped the tractor off. The tractor kept throwing the belt almost each time I used it. The deck rollers completely wore out after 20 hours. After 2 years I was tired of the issues I was having with the unit. I decided to trade it in. I purchased the tractor in May 2008. When I went to trade it in (9/2010) they ran the serial number and found out it was manuafactured in 2/2007 - it was 15 months old when I purchased it from Kerry's. They told me it was a 2008 model when I got it - but they lied.. I traded it in for a John Deere and will never look back . This was the worst experience I had - they are so unethical and non-customer focused. It appears they also lost their John Deere dealership status - with this kind of behavior it is no wonder why!

A+ Sales and Service! I learned my lesson after my first purchase from one of the 'big box' stores, when I received my mower untouched in a box... I had no idea how to assemble the machine and had nothing but problems! When I decided to buy another machine I headed to Kerry's, on the advice of many friends and colleagues, and it was the best decision I could have made! Not only was my new mower assembled, tested and serviced, but the salesman who helped me pick out the machine also took the time to go over how to use it as well as how to maintain the machine. I have been back every season since for service on my mower and they always do a great job - I even take my snowblower there now for service! I would highly recommend Kerry's to anyone in the market for a new piece of lawn and garden equipment, or anyone looking for parts or service - you'll be very pleased!

I like to patronize local businesses, and generally find them to be exemplary in their service. Unfortunately, I can't say such for Kerry's. My first visit was promising, as I was quickly waited on while perusing the mowers on the sales floor. However, when I went back a few days later to pick up the mower I'd purchased, I waited for at least 45 minutes while the guy behind the counter shot the bull with another customer. He didn't even seem to notice that a rather large line was forming, or simply didn't care. Eventually I did get served, but after several difficult mowings, discovered that they hadn't adjusted the mower properly, and my self-propulsion was literally me propelling the thing myself. The manual and some elbow grease resolved that problem. A friend of mine had waited in line so long there that he actually called a competitor while in the store, and bought a mower from them instead. Today, my girlfriend and I visited during our lunch hour in search of a replacement blade, and with the store nearly empty, decided to leave after the counter personnel completely ignored us as we stood there waiting for service. A simple acknowledgement was all we required. They've been around awhile, so I guess they are doing something right, but I will buy my lawn equipment and parts elsewhere. Not my typical hometown business experience. Addendum 6/19-09 - I visited Kerry's at lunch time for a new lawn mower blade, and this time was waited on very quickly. They also had the blade I wanted at a reasonable price. So, guess it just depends on the day.

Kerry's Lawn and Garden was a disappointment for me. I purchased a new lawn mower there which leaked oil the first time I used it. They refused to give me a new mower, insisting it was no problem and they would promptly fix it. A couple of days later I still had not heard from them, so I went there and they told me it was ready, but no phone call? Then they took me outside to the back of the store where it was sitting outside with a huge number of mowers. There was oil all over the deck! They said they had run it for 1.5 hours and did not leak. At this point I told them I wanted a new mower, and they refused. I insisted they call Lawn Boy, hoping they would stand behind the product since Kerry's would not. Lawn Boy agreed to a complete refund. I had a similar problem with a mower at Home Depot, but they immediately gave me a replacement with no problem.

They sell great equipment and their sales staff is good. Parts and service.... I was told to come back with the exact serial number of my unit (which I bought there). I went to Lowes and bought the part off the shelf, no serial number required.

Kerry's Lawn and Garden, Inc. is a sales and repairs store in Mechanicsburg. They can repair most major brands and they sell all type of lawn equipment, including lawn mowers, tractors, chippers, sprayers, vacuums and snow blowers. They will keep your equipment running smoothly year round. Their staff is helpful, especially if you are looking for parts and need assistance. Their prices are really good and their inventory is really incredible for a private store.
