Foreign Car Svc is unprofessional, untrustworthy

by Maria D.

I took my 2001 Mercedes CLK 430 here because my seats and windows stopped working and changing out the fuses did not solve the problem. I dropped it off on a Sunday night in the night drop box. On Wednesday morning, when I still had not heard ANYTHING from the shop, I gave them a call. They told me no one had looked at it yet, but they'd take a look and call me back that morning. No call. I called them back on Thursday morning and they told me I would need a new ignition switch, that it would have to be installed by the dealer, and that the car wouldn't start so I would have to pay them $90 to tow the car across town. I have never had any problem with the ignition in the past and the car has always started right up for me for the past 5 yrs that I've owned it. They also told me the key was dead and I would need to bring in a new key. So they broke my key, broke my ignition, and now they're trying to charge me money to have my car towed to the dealer. Give me a break! AVOID THIS PLACE. I've taken my car to independent service stations that are professional before - this place is completely unprofessional.

The Best Service

by Tracy T.

I take my 2004 Mercedes Benz to these professionals whenever I need service because they do quality work at a fraction of the price that the dealer charges. I have had wonderful interaction with them and will continue to use them as long as I have this car.

Avoid this shop. Consistently overcharges for labor.

by John S.

I've taken my car to this place twice by choice, and once for an attempt to get warranty work. All three times, this place seriously failed to impress. Be very wary before you trust the other reviews here, because it almost seems like they went to a different shop. They consistently padded their labor hours by 30%-50% over actual time or even the Mercedes dealer shop manual. For example, I dropped my car off at 3:30 and picked it up at 4:30 to find a charge for more than 3 hours of labor. Total cost for a minor fix with $30 in parts that probably took 15 minutes was around $400.

As far as warranty work goes, I brought a car back in for a warranty check, and they demanded $60 to check it out. Small amount of money, yes, but infuriating. Amazingly, I found the Alexandria Mercedes dealer to be more honest and ethical than Foreign Car Service, which, if you know Mercedes service departments, that should not even be possible.

Finally, the last time I gave them my car, they gave it back with a dead battery and the stereo requesting a code!

I won't be returning.

Service Dept

by James T.

I had to have major work on my Toyota. I also wanted them to service the car. They recommended that I have timing belt changed since my car had 100K miles.

I mentioned to them that I thought that I had it changed at 70K, but I could not remember since it was 5 yrs ago at a different auto shop and I didnt remember if I kept my records (Im bad with records). They asked me to call the previous auto shop to see if they had the record, but the previous auto shop only keeps records for 2yrs.

The mechanic asked if I kept records to which I mentioned that if it were anywhere it would be in the glove box. Low and behold he found the statement showing the timing belt had in fact been replaced at 68K. He saved me at least $500. These guy are the best I have used.

Tragedy averted

by Richard C.

These professionals are superior to any other service facility I've visited. My 1999 Jag XK8 lost an engine driving from a friend's funeral in New York. I had her brought 100 miles back to FSC (I don't trust anyone else) and was given three replacement options for the engine. Their mechancis helped me choose the best option for my financial situation and didn't try to push me to the biggest profit choice. All calls were handled professionally work was thorough and done on time. I WOULD NOT USE ANY OTHER SERVICE CENTER for my Jag.

Really honest mechanics

by beverly d.

They have worked on my car from time to time for 3 years.
I trust them, and that seems to be the sense of all of their customers.
I highly recommend them.

Great place for post warranty or all service

by Bob P.

Finding FCS has made owning my 528 much simpler and more affordable. The work is great and the staff and owner are great to get along with. If you own one of the German marques and are looking for a quality alternative look no further. Give them a call.

Foreign Car Service

by Shawn F. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,762

This shop specializes in foreign vehicles. I had a minor fender bender and opted to work with this organization instead of the company my insurance company recommended. I was happy with my decision since they really did a great job and did not put up with the rhetoric from my insurance company. My car came back as good as new.

Great services for foreign cars...

by Jessica G. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 957

They do very good work. Body and paint look great. They work with you so that you win (not the insurance company). They are not the cheapest thing in town but you will be quite satisfied. They have been in the business for more than twenty years. Recommended for their expertise on foreign cars.

Honest, Efficient and Reasonable

by Joe L. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,482

The title says it all. This place specializes in foreign cars and they do dealer quality service at about 75% of the price. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who's warranty has run out.
