All my experiences with Dr. Nasr have been good ones. He's a straight shooter who loves animals in a non-new-age way.

Dr Nasr has brought my 14 yr old hound back to good health in the last year that I've been using him. Hernia, chronic uti, and chronic yeast infection. I've taken my dog to several vets and no one has been able to solve these problems. The difference with dr nasr is that he is helping us keep them under control with kindness, solid general advise and pragmatic approach: least invasive, least expensive, least traumatic for the animal.
The other reviews that complain about rough handling and cursory exams are unfortunate, he does work quickly and diagnose without drama or excessive testing and that can seem careless but I believe that is a false impression you'll get if you only see him once. After working with him you'll start to see that he simply knows his stuff and doesn't employ smoke and mirrors like so many other Brooklyn vets.
I really doubt the claims that he caused injury to animals. Sadly, I believe it's more likely that the ICU's or really tricked out vets catch the concern in the owners voice when a horror story is presented and use it as a means to concoct false illnesses and prescribe excessive treatment.
I'm tremendously grateful for the care he's given to my dog, who was in dreadful shape after outrageously expensive visits to Brooklyn Cares, Pet Haven, and Animal Kind. My 14 year old hound is in good health again, after being at death's door.
I also second the statement that if you need advanced care, and if you want to employ extraordinary measures (dermatology, allergy testing, surgery for fragile animals) this vet isn't equipped for that. I am glad that he is not the type of vet that will treat my animal like a precious sculpture and prescribe extensive and often traumatic means that result in minimal gains.
He is a very kind hearted man, a genuinely compassionate guy who loves his work and his animals and his clients.
He is a rare find in Brooklyn, he knows veterinary medicine well enough that he may accidentally make it look like he isn't trying very hard, but he won't do anything foolish or unnecessary, he is a terrific vet.
And the fact that his staff is happy should also speak volumes about his character.

Took my cat there a few years ago to be neutered with a Friends of Animals certificate. The vet was pleasant with me and seemed to do well with the cat, even taking the extra step of clipping his claws for me while he was under.

Dr. Nasr and his staff are great! They are passionate about their care and work in the animal health care. I have personally recommended four clients to Dr. Nasr and everyone raves about him! I have two terriers (Silky & Yorkie) and they love him.
He has always given great advice and care. As pet owner, sometimes you make mistakes (it doesn't mean you intended to do it) but everyone isn't perfect. Dr. Nasr will give it to you straight and give solid advice on how to take care of your pet and continue their health. I have often called him on an emergency calls and he has always called me back with in hour (usually it is 20 mins). He even called me back on Christmas when my Silky was a 3 month old puppy with kennel cough and I thought that it had gotten worse. He is wonderful and I can't rave enough about his care!

He was way to rough with my dog. He would give shots ruffly and would just pluck him without even looking where..my dog got injured in the hind legs cause of him. When i called him he brushes me off saying oh its nothing it will go away...it DIDNT!!...eventually he got more and more sick and was rushed to an emergency hospital where he ended up dieing!!!...This man needs to be removed from this field..SAVE your little baby DO NOT TAKE your baby there...

At the outset, lets note that people are infinitely more likely to complain on these message boards than commend. Let me tell you the other side of this story.

I am sorry to read the other reviews, as Dr Nasr has only been the best to our animals and I've met a number of other pet owners in the waiting room who agree.

We took in 2 strays, he helped us nurse them to health and continues to be a resource to us 2 years later. I find the staff friendly and cost of care reasonable. I also want to note we used our spay/neuter certificates without issue.

To be clear, this is a neighborhood vet. If your animal is in need of intensive care, locate a veterinary hospital. But, for routine care (most of the care your animal will hopefully ever need), Dr. Nasr is great. And did I mention he's got a great attitude and exudes an obvious passion for his work and compassion for animals?

If you are looking for a vet, I recommend him.

I purchased a Friends of Animals Spay/Neuter certificate to have my foster dog neuter and tried to schedule an appointment with this place which was listed as a participating veterinarian. The guy on the phone was a complete as$. I tried to get some info about additional charges that might incur on a bigger dog. I was expecting a little extra charge. Instead he quoted me a price way over what I paid for FOA certificate and B/S about charges toward part of the procedure FOA don't cover. Which was a lied! FOA certificate is a full compensation for a routine spay/neuter procedure for a dog up to 50 llbs. Any dog over that weight is only expected to pay for additional anesthesia. Anyway, the guy was rude and hung up on me.

I brought my 10 week old puppy to Dr. Nasr because he is the doctor that is covered by the pet store that she came from. His examiniations were LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. She was coughing and sneezing and he just gave her antibiotics and sent us on our way. Although he gave me his cell phone in case of emergency, when I called I got a minute of his time and he brushed my concerns off to be nothing. He never even used a stethescope to examine her wheezing. BOTTOM LINE: my puppy is now in the hospital in ICU because the proper precautionary measures were not taken.

Pros: appts are easy to get (probably because there are few clients)

I have been taking my 3 year old Yorkie to this vet since he was 6 months old. I take good care of my dog; give him premium dog food (not grocery store bought) walk him regularly, get him groomed once a month and bathe him myself in between, he has all his shots (including the Bordella shot after Katrina), I brush his teeth, clean his eyes and his ears and he has been neutered. He is also on Heart Guard. His coat is healthy and shiny and his stool is fine. His has had worm testing and ear mite testing, fine. He has had two ear infections due to fast hair growth in his ears (constant scratching) and I always bring him to the vet immediately to get medicine. EVERY TIME I go the vet manages to make a comment about how I don't take care of him. He will say things like "Oh baby it's okay, I know they don't take care of you!" Then he tries to hustle me into using his groomer. I LOVE my own groomer who does a great job with him and takes time to give him special care, plus my vets office is far, so I say no thanks. He makes more of these comments. Then he'll try to get me to buy extra shots, $40. a piece and has them aimed at his butt before he even asks, along with other products that are overpriced. He seldom remembers my dog (after 3 years of continuous visits, until he gets the file in his hand, and is a little rough with him. My dog is calm all the way to the waiting room, except when he gets around the vet, he becomes fearful. I would not recommend this vet. I have recently changed.

Pros: Clean Office, Not a lot of waiting

Cons: Rude Vets, Tries to Hustle your money and make owners feel guilty

Basically scheduled an appointment with me no problem and then left me in a lurch, telling me at the last minute to go somewhere else and being quite nasty over the phone. They're rude and very inconsiderate. Had no compassion as these cats are in the midst of a long complicated move overseas and they really screwed us over. Don't trust them with your pets.
