Dr. Serra is the most fantastic, caring, knowledgeable vet.I have the utmost confidence in whatever he tells me about my pets. I travel from my home in Coventry, RI to Richmond for him to treat my pets. There are plenty of vets a lot closer to my home, but I would not leave Dr. Serra. Whatever he tells you, you can be sure it is right and the best treatment for you pet.

Drs White and Serra saved my dachshund's life! My dogs are regulars of Wood River Animal Hospital (WRHA) but a couple of years ago my Rocky was acting as though something was medically wrong with him. My husband and I brought him to WRAH to be checked. To make a long story readable the little guy had contracted Leptospirosis also know as the barnyard disease. This disease is passed from rodents, deer and other animals to domesticated animal via their urine excretions (i.e. drinking from a puddle contiminated with deer urine) and it can attack several of the domesticated animals internal organs at once very often leading to death. My Rocky was a rescue pup who had been through a terrible life until we adopted him at age 2 and now this! Drs White and Serra treated, studied, tested, consulted and repeated all processes again and again until they cured my Rocky. I will forever be grateful. Rocky was the only dog to survive Lepto in RI that winter so I feel that we are very blessed to have such WONDERFUL, CARING veterinarians as we do with Drs. White and Serra. I was then on a crusade to notify as many dog owners about Leptospirosis as I could along with the fact that there is now a vaccine for this disease given once with a booster shot annually. With Dr. Serra's help we were able to bring this story to Rhode Island Monthly magazine and to WJAR 10 News spreading both their success in saving Rocky and the need for this vaccine to a lot of people. We love you Dr. David Serra and Dr. Ted White!!!

We brought our 7y/o choc lab, Angus, to Drs. Serra & White for a 2nd opinion regarding an ACL injury. Wow...we had never experienced such caring and thorough vets, ever. After extensive testing, multiple failed surgeries, casts, and a scary wait for biopsy results we were amazed at the concern they showed us for a dog that really wasn't even a patient of their practice. When the decision to amputate Gus' rear leg was made Dr. Serra was just as upset as we were. On the eve of the surgery he called our home and told us he'd had a change of heart. He'd spent hours on the internet and telephone trying to come up with an alternative to this radical procedure. He had consulted with the ortho, as well as a rehab specialist and they felt that Gus may be a candidate for bracing instead. After a quick trip to Providence to the rehab vet,(also awesome) Gus was fitted with a molded polymer and velcro rear leg/hock splint (much like the leg braces children with cerebral palsy wear) to wear when he's walking. It's not a cure, but is certainly a better option than amputation. We were all thrilled with the results. Drs. Serra and White are fabulous, and we are happy to have been taken in by their practice. The office staff is friendly and caring and are willing to make accomodations when things get a little out of control. Our family is extremely grateful for all they have done for us, and look forward to many years of great care.
