Up until a couple of evenings ago the only issue with this place was poor management and false promises. Unfortunately this past Sunday Mercer Square got a lot worse. A neighbor knocked on another neighbor's door and assaulted my neighbor's guest who happened to answer his door with not more than a few words about loud music (of which the rest of neighbors didn't and don't ever hear). Another neighbor then came out threatening to shoot all of us tenants who were out coming to see what was happening.
The part that makes the management, company, and owners the worst I have ever even heard of is this.....a young couple lives here at the complex and also work here, they were on a walk with their young son and as good neighbors and I would think most people would think as GREAT employees of the company they stopped and called the police, they told these two crazy neighbors of mine that they had called the police and that and ONLY that is what finally got the one neighbor to stop punching the guest and stopped the crazy guy from the top floor from screaming over to us that he was going to get his gun and shoot everyone if we didn't shut up.
I have now learned from other neighbors who have been spoken to by the property manager that this young couple, their employees that called for help, were placed on suspension and have now lost their jobs because the two neighbors who should be in jail right now have called making false accusations about them. The wife is a leasing agent and the husband is a maintenance tech, both of which are sole reasons tenants have come here in the first place and tenants have renewed leases and stayed here despite the horrible running of the place. This company was lucky to have found this couple who is a lovely family with an adorable little boy and they alone have made this complex nicer, cleaner, more of a homey and neighborly atmosphere, they treat this complex as their home and the husband is seen by all of us tenants day and night, week day and weekend keeping this complex running! And the two neighbors who should have been arrested are still here! I now have to live with two neighbors that I know will assault me or my guests for no reason and another guy who may or may not have a gun but who definitely wouldn't think twice about using one if he gets his hands on one!
Again, previously this company has just been run horribly. They promote that they do these monthly community events and they are low budget jokes, the staff is there but looks uncomfortable the whole time as they are not allowed to be on a friend/friendly basis with tenants. Before the maintenance guy I have been talking about moved here there were just loads and loads of dog waste everywhere you stepped and I imagine if he leaves it will return to how it was. I sincerely hope the young couple sues Tricap for discrimination and anything else they can and if that happens, well even the little low budget amenities we have I'm sure would be wiped out and our rent would go up.
Needless to say, this is a horrible place. I already knew from living here that they don't care about their tenants and have now learned that carries over to their employees too. I will not be staying here any longer than I am contracted to.

Don't be fooled- this apartment complex is a money pit! It looks new and nice but the water tank is so small you can't even fill up your bathtub and have it be warm. The walls are so thin that you can hear conversations in the apartments above you (if you live on the bottom floor) and be prepared to pay $200.00 for an electric bill for a one bedroom apartment. The parking is a nightmare and the management is rude.

This is probably the worst apartment complex I've lived in. It seems nice at first with their "luxury" theme but its actually all for show. The apartments are designed to look like quality at first glance but the cheap fixtures and fake laminate wood flooring will be apparent within the first month and laughable.

If that wasn't enough, the parking situation at Mercer Square is downright HORRIBLE! The apartment owners didn't even create one parking spot per unit! Parking is impossible, not a single spot available in the entire complex and the side streets all taken too! They will sticker your car if you park in an unapproved spot.

But perhaps what is the most awful about this complex is their fake electric company, APL (American Light & Power http://www.electricapl.com). They are an unlicensed electrical reseller with a less than stellar BBB rating. They charge a huge, yet unknown rate for their electric service, which includes a charge for the community center, leasing office and lights throughout the complex. I lived in a one bedroom, 700 sq ft and was gone most of the time at work. My electric bills topped $450 a month in the winter! I took drastic measures like keeping the heat on 60 when I was at home and unscrewing light bulbs, and still the bills continued. I believe to this day I was being charged for heating their office areas and the model units/property manager's home. Water is also billed similar, I paid over $40/month for the same one bedroom. At other apartments my utility bills have been less than $150/mo max all together!!

The first month I moved in, the doors broke on the cabinets. The toilet backed up and wasn't fixed until the following day the first weekend (that should have been my first sign). The fuse kept blowing in my living room, and it took them over a month to fix it, so I could either watch TV or have one light on. The hose for the drier is in the ceiling, so my clothes never get dry and have to be run through an additional cycle. I once was locked in the apartment because the lock on the front door broke, and it took "emergency" maintenance over three hours to respond, making me late. The complex trash compactor unit was down once for a week, making it impossible to dispose of trash. These events all occurred within the span of a single year.

It may just sound like bad luck, but my friend who also rents here has had a similar laundry list of problems. They just sent me an offer to renew my lease at $200 more than what I am paying now monthly, with a threat if I don't I will be automatically renewed for the $200 more $50 a month. This place is a joke. For the prices you pay, better off to go somewhere else and rent an actual nice place, not one that just looks it.

One of the worst apartments. not worth it. You will come to know about lots of issues after you move in. SO, eventually you will be staying there for your lease term, and I am sure you will move out after that...
